Terra Incognita
Terra Incognita (heavyweight vinyl 12")
Cat: ADMM 55. Rel: 08 Sep 20
Drum And Bass
  1. Terra Incognita (6:33)
  2. Sub Conscious (5:30)
Review: Ant Miles and Andy C's Origin Unknown blueprint Desired State continues to proffer unreleased gold from the foundation era. This time we're taken back to 1994 for two of the deepest cuts they ever made together. Both rolling at around the 160 BPM mark, they capture that exciting crossover between hardcore and drum & bass with restraint, warmth and clarity. 'Terra Incognita' is the heavier piece with echoes of rave stabs and firm attention on the breaks while 'Sub Conscious' is a little more hypnotic and rolling with full focus on the percussion. Neither have seen the light of day for 26 years... Grab them while you can!

Warp One
Warp One (12")
Cat: ADMM 51. Rel: 19 May 20
Drum And Bass
  1. Warp One (6:46)
  2. Lifeform (7:15)
Review: Pioneer Ant Miles unearths two more unreleased gems from the DAT preservation. This time he's taken us back to 98. Made during the time Ram Trilogy were triple-handedly changing the game, both cuts have a gritty, stripped back charm of the era. "Warp One" has an almost "Turbulence" or "Ska" vibe with its wriggling twisted bassline infectiousness while "Lifeform" captures the techstep vibe of the time. All steppy and samurai with a touch of icy jazz. Timeless.

Flava (180 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: ADMM 61. Rel: 19 Jan 21
Drum And Bass
  1. Flava (6:20)
  2. First Charge (5:50)
Review: Shimon Alcoby should need no introduction to drum and bass heads. Having collaborated with legends such as Dilinja, Andy C and Moving Fusion to name but a few, the Audioporn main man is no stranger to Liftin' Spirits either, serving up for them another killer release - his first in two decades. The two tracks on the Flava EP definitely hark back to the '90s, there's some proper rollers on offer here. From the breakneck junglist fury of the title track and its ominous atmosphere throughout, to B side cut 'First Charge' being more reminiscent of his usual work, on this darkly dystopian expression in techstep.
