Break Of Day
Thinking Of You (Peter Christianson LCG remix)
Review: Canadian Atnarko first hooked up with the Lazy Days crew last year for his Solid Ground EP featuring Nica Brooke. Obviously more than pleased with their choice, the label welcome him back again, this time for the Thinking Of You EP featuring vocals from none other than Sam Mollison, the voice behind Sasha's "Magic". "Thinking Of You" is a slow burning and rolling track, the addictive vocal complimenting the simple yet effective musical basis. On remix duty, Peter Christianson from LawnChair Generals speeds things up with quickened tempo and disco sirens aplenty. "Break The Day", completes the EP with a melodic and thundering house record from Atnarko that will no doubt seep its way onto many discerning dancefloors this summer.

Wherever You Go (Lauer akai mix) (6:29)
Review: Fred Everything's Lazy Days label rounds out a strong 2018 with this remix package focused on some of Everything's recent productions. On the A side, his collaboration with singer Sio gets the remix treatment from Andre Lodemann and Fabian Dikof before Everything himself comes back to revisit the track with an alternative spin. While each having their own distinct stamps on how to work "By Day," both versions chime with the kind of uplifting, melodic tech house that Lazy Days is known for. On the B side, "Sliverlight" gets a once over from Ian Pooley, who employs a subby bass and tense, sustained string notes to create a captivating atmosphere, then Lauer rounds the record out with a bright and breezy 90s-rave-flavoured "Akai Mix" of "Wherever You Go."

Crazy P - "Like A Fool" (Fred Everything Lazy dub)
Roach Motel - "The Night" (Fred Everything Lazy Vox)
Franky Selector - "Wind Swept Dune" (Fred Everything Space Re-Do)
Review: Ever reliable Canadian producer Fred Everything makes his first appearance of 2017 with a selection of choice remixes of house classics for the Lazy Days label. On the A-side he's taking to Crazy P's "Like A Fool" a vocal and dub version and laying down a slick, bubbling groover that fits perfectly with the original's warm, disco-infused elements. On the flip, he takes on Roach Motel's "The Night" and makes it into a shimmering nocturnal cut peppered with impeccable synth lines and a sleazy vocal turn. By way of variety the final track sees Fred create a laid back Balearic, auto-tuned version of Franky Selector's "Wind Swept Dune".

Barbarella
Something
Review: Prolific and long-serving Canadian producer Fred Everything is never one to rest on his laurels, but it's been no less than 10 years since he last released an album (the classic Lost Together on Om Records). Now he finally returns to the long player format on his own Lazy Days label with the appropriately titled Long Way Home, a widescreen exploration of his sound via all manner of styles. There's gorgeous broken beat and neo soul, slow-strutting electronic disco and modern boogie, and that's just the A side of this expansive 12-track album. Warm, immaculately produced and unafraid of embracing pop as much as underground styles, it's a masterful return from Mr. Everything.

Barbarella (I:Cube Parisian Sleeze remix) (6:37)
Barbarella (Slow Down 2021 version) (6:30)
Review: After spending some time on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, Fred wrote his 2018 album Long Way Home. 'Barbarella' - presumably named after the country's most famous beach side club - was one of the standout tunes. It now makes a welcome return on this cheeky 10" from Lazy Days. First it comes as an I:Cube Parisian Sleeze remix that is all bulbous bass farts and slow, seductive drums overlaid with lush sunset chords. The reverse features a Slow Down 2021 Version thats all tooting arps and cosmic disco lushness. Simply add sunshine for a damn good time.

Tortured Soul - "You Found A Way" (Art Of Tones beats)
Review: To celebrate five years of his Lazy Days imprint, Fred Everything gets Crazy P, Art of Tones and Ian Pooley to provide a bunch of remixes of some of the label's best-loved tracks. While all provide solid reworks - particularly Crazy P, whose re rub of Fred Everything's own "Friday" is excellent - it's Art Of Tones who really excels. His two reworks of Tortured Soul's "You Found A Way" are everything a disco-loving house head would wish for; loose, bumpin' and deliciously soulful, riding a wave of loose-wristed live drums and classic synth strings.

I'll Take You In (BDTW Vox dub) (7:39)
Review: Fred Everything's profile may not be as high as it once was, but he continues to serve up high quality treats - as this surprise collaboration with legendary vocalist Robert Owens proves. The latter is in fine form on the EP-opening 'Classic Mix', a warming, musically detailed chunk of vocal deep house positivity that sounds like it was partially inspired by Dubtribe Soundsystem classic 'Do It Now'. Fred Everything also provides two 'BDTW' mixes on the flip: the fluttering synths sounds and vintage Chicago house grooves of the 'Deep Mix', and a more stripped-back 'Vox Dub'. Best of all though is Martin 'Atjazz' Iveson's rework, which recalls the fluid synth sounds, jazzy flutes and intricate percussion programming that marked out his early 2000s work on Mantis Recordings.

Review: While Fred Everything's Lazy Days Recordings has perhaps been less than high profile over the last half decade, the label has nevertheless become a trusted source of summery deep house with solid dancefloor chops. This fifth anniversary collection, mixed by Fred Everything but with a bonus disc of unmixed cuts, perfectly demonstrates the label's enduring appeal to deep house heads. Throughout, there's a distinct warmth and groove to proceedings, with plenty of cute melodies, sultry vocals and musical sophistication. It's this trademark sound - coupled with a heavyweight tracklist that includes contributions from Art Of Tones, Atjazz, Greg Wilson, Crazy P and Ian Pooley - that makes 5 Years Of Lazy Days such an enjoyable listen.

Review: Also known as Art Of Tones, Ludovic Llorca's "The Garden" album landed on Must Have Jazz in 2017 and remains a sleeper hit of effervescent modern electronic soul. Now Lazy Days have stepped up to shine a light on the record, and in particular the track "Wonder Why", with this tidy remix package. On the A side Crazy P's Hot Toddy brings a deliciously synth-soaked brand of cosmic funk to the track, keeping the groove simmering and weaving illustrious strings over the top. On the flip, Lazy Days boss Fred Everything delivers two "Space edits" of the track that keep the chunky funk of the original rolling along, with the instrumental version reaching to particularly dizzying heights.

Fred Everything & 20For7 - "Friday" (feat Vanessa Baker - Crazy P dub)
Review: Second vinyl only sampler for the forthcoming digital only compilation that celebrates five years of Lazy Days with some classy remixers like Crazy P, Art of Tones and Ian Pooley taking on the label's best-loved tracks. This classy two-track ten kicks off with a Greg Wilson remix of "U Give Me" from Lovebirds which douses the crispness of the original in a sheen of resplendent pads, expertly dubbing out the vocal refrain and generally sexing proceedings up some. On the flip Crazy P tackle boss man Fred Everything's collab with 20 For 7 and Vanessa Baker, dropping a tightly wound burner filled with jagged arpeggios and bumping rhythms that ascends excellently into full on disco mode midway through.

Review: Fred Everything's Lazy Days label is a veritable institution by this stage in the game, and it's no surprise to see a label of such stature reaching out to an artist as highly regarded as Atjazz. Martin Iveson, as he's also known, ditches the alias here but the mood is consistent with his reputation. "Leave Me Here" is a jazz-soaked beauty in its original form and when Jimpster takes the controls for a remix. On the flip comes Art Of Tones, whose "Koniokola" gets not one but two versions from Fred Everything. Both the remix and "re dub" deal in masterful tech house from a true champion of the genre.

Bridgetown's Pyramid
Review: Fred Everything's Lazy Days label is always one for summery sounds, and they've got that in abundance from Parages label regular OJPB. The vibe on "Lucy's Stomp" is insanely upbeat, all cheery funk licks with a little French psychedelia draped over the top. "Mis A Part Et Fini" has a more dreamy outlook with its sky-reaching lead synths and hazy strings. Fred Everything dives in on "Bridgetown's Pyramid" and makes it into a sizzling bongo-powered groover, bringing out the warm ingredients in OJPB's original and matching it with his instinct for a sustained dancefloor atmosphere.

Review: Aroop Roy is next up on Lazy Days, bringing his well honed house tones to the label in four varied takes on chunky hardware deep house. "Afrika My Home" is utterly infectious with its shuffling groove and warm, buttery keys. "Le Pasteur" takes some choice disco licks and runs them mercilessly through a filter for blissed out funk of the highest order, while "I Listen" gets into a sprightly, uplifting frame of mind as the most outright party starter on the record. "Afrika My Home" gets dubbed out at the end of the record and sounds even more potent for late night dancefloor sessions.

Review: Freerange regular and Dark Energy boss Shur I Kan makes a welcome return to Fred Everything's Lazy Days imprint with the Life Live EP containing a triplet of typically polished house movements. The title track showcases Shur I Kan's inherent musicality via the deep swarming keyboard, organ flutters and swooping orchestral touches which are mere factors in a richly detailed production that engulfs the A Side. "Stay In" has been a secret weapon of the Lazy Days boss for a while now, a bit cheeky with funky uptempo rhythms that show a different, more driving side to Shur I Kan's arsenal, whilst "One10" flips the mood 90 degrees for a sumptuous Balearic finale.

Review: Back in 2005 US label Moxx put out a bootleg electronic cut using sounds from Yello's "Bostich" track; its hypnotic percussion and driving bass secured the track as a staple in record bags worldwide. Here Yello's "Bostich" has been used again, this time remixed by Fred Everything with two 'Lazy Days' versions for his label. "Version 1" is barely recognizable from the 1980's pumping original (if you aren't familiar with it we urge you to check it out nowish - trust us, you'll be glad you did). The once dominant drum rolls are softened and the vocal distorted and slowed into a relaxed and happily chugging interpretation. "Version 2" bounces with more power, focusing on tinny percussions and electronic key splashes infused with the bizarre-but-brilliant original vocal samples.
