1983 (7:37)
1983 (Ron Basejam remix) (7:39)
Review: Often found cruising around on Music For Dreams, Bonnie & Klein sidle up to Is It Balearic? with the appropriately smooth sounds of 1983. Taking the concept of island boogie to a blissed-out, peak ideal, "1983" answers the record label question with a resounding 'yes' - this is as Balearic as it gets. Shaking up the sundown sweetness of the original, Ron Basejam is on hand deliver a remix that should get plenty of dancefloors working hard. It's still steeped in vintage sounds, but Basejam's version piles on the funk and rides a fierce disco beat to ensure the record lands in legions of record bags, as it quite rightly should.

Review: Ibiza legend and all round well respected industry man Chris Coco is back with more of his seaside sounds. This time his Mediterranean magic is cast over 'La Guitarra' which as the title hints has Flamenco style acoustics (from Micko Roche) with tropical house drums and heartfelt synths. There is a pair backed and delicious dub also, and then modern disco don Rune Lindbaek comes through with a mesmeric take that is laidback and lush in its design. Last of all is Daniel Braca with a Deep In Brooklyn remix thing brings some fine Latin house styles.

Review: Some two years in the making, Glide Time is the brand new studio album from Is It Balearic..? Recordings head boys Coyote. Eight tracks deep, this album sees Ampo and Timm Sure further perfect their approach to modern Balearica, ambling from moments of incandescent calm such as the expansive opening track "California Jam" and "Feel Beautiful" to euphoria inducing cuts like the chuggy "Swimming" and acid tinged "Break On Through". Look out for the guitar playing skills of Is It Balearic...? Stalwart Max Essa too. It is indeed Time to Glide. Switch on and feel the new Balearic beat at its best.

Review: A highly distinguished long player from Nottingham based duo Coyote, who have carved their own inimitable sonic niche following a succession of fine EPs (and one previous album, 2009's Harlyn Bay) on their Is It Balearic? Imprint alongside the odd dalliance with International Feel. Importantly, their second album, Half Man Half Coyote, never drowns in a sea of sameness, largely thanks to a nice variety of instrumentation, tempos and vocalists. Alongside each slice of instrumental bliss, there's the melodic hip-hop of "Safari Man" and woozy horizontal charm of spoken word opener "Keep Breathing". Clearly an album with its heart in the White Isle - all you have to do is close your eyes, listen, and you'll be there too.

Review: UK duo Coyote have shaped out an entire soundworld of their own devising with their Is It Balearic? label, and they return with their fifth album in an appropriately hazy, sunkissed blur of heartfelt organic grooves that capture that elusive Ibizan dream perfectly. "Natural Way" balances subtle acid flecks with pattering percussion and soothing pads while "Herbal Remedy" cools things down to a gently finger-picked murmur. The likes of "No Time To Play" reach skywards with yearning arpeggios and rousing drum lines while "Cala Conta Sunset" makes for the perfect ambient album closer. Whichever way you turn on Song Dogs, the rich musicality and meditative atmosphere of Coyote has never sounded fresher.

Review: ***B-STOCK: Sleeve damaged, but otherwise in excellent condition***

As the winter beats a hasty retreat, we're very much ready for a fresh dose of Balearic goodness, and who better to serve it up than Coyote? This new five tracker gives us exactly what our souls are in need of - laconic grooves lingering in an eternal sunset reverie with rock solid rhythm matched by a loose, organic flow as though the tracks just breathed themselves into existence. From the heavy-lidded dream of 'Return To life' to the super-smooth lounge pop of 'Save Me', the meditative mantra of 'The Eagle & The Snake' to the slick, catchy 'Wonderful', this is Coyote doing what Coyote do best.

Review: It's been four years since Is It Balearic? dons Coyote last graced our faces with an album. As you'd expect from two learned heads at the helm of such a musically rich label, their own offerings are brimming with laconic grooves and heady instrumentation, ranging from the pastoral patter of "Shimmer Dub" to the folky flex of "Ranura De Marihuana". For the most part there's a steady beat driving the loping basslines and reverbed keys, but there's also space for more ambient excursions too. "Sun Culture" is a beautiful, meditative piece to drift away to before we slip back into some more pronounced funkers to close out the B side.

Review: Is It Balearic finally offer up four cuts from Coyote's fantastic The Mystery Light album. First up is Dan Lissvik on the remix of 'Simpsons Sky' with its loose-limbed Balearic drum funk and tropical synth work. Then come Reverso 68 who layer in some superb arpeggiators for the silky piano sounds of sunset gem 'Copacetic.' Japanese downtempo boss Calm brings his signature mellow acid lushness to 'Outsider' and last of all Chris Massey reworks Coyote's 'Cami Sa Valeta' which was a tribute to Tony Pike. Here it is a go-slow, blissed out and cosmic star-gazer.

Will We Ever Dance Again (6:49)
As Above (6:01)
Review: If you need a little pick me up as the weather gets colder, darker and wetter, then stick this new now from Coyote on your turntable and feel your woes drain away. It is another classy offering from Is It Balearic across two sides of proudly Balearic-influenced house music. You can picture the scenes when this will go down best - as the sun sinks into the sea in India or Croatia, with a happy and smiling crowd ready for the daytime vibes to make way for something a little naughtier. 'Will We Ever Dance Again' is pure celebratory joy, with swirling chords rising ever higher like a heat haze, then 'As Above' gets playful with squelchy acid, steely drums and a great sense of bounce.

Marijuana (6:34)
Review: A case of things turning full circle if ever there was one, as Rolo McGinty of The Woodentops fame - the indie stars who discovered raving and then featured on the very first Balearic Beats collection - teams up with Coyote for a one sided 12" for Is It Balearic. Well, if this isn't, then nothing is! The title should be a clue to its sentiments, paying homage to the laughing herb that is 'Marijuana' and in particular, partaking in its delights in the shade on a hot day. McGinty delivers a deep, resonant vocal and some very cool acoustic strumming, while the Coyote boys do the slow motion beat shuffling. Anthemic glory.

Dzis (9:47)
Review: The top tier imprint that is Is It Balearic is back with more blissed-out and beach brilliance, this time with a trio of masterpieces from Das Komplex. A whole world of influences are called up on here and then distilled into primo Komplex sounds - opener 'Quest' brings a slick 80s new wave vibe with a ragged guitar riff and splashy hits over heavy drums and under well-treated vocals. It is awash with waves of dance floor warmth then 'Never Stop' is all shimmering vocals and Japanese house chords over 80s house beats. Emotive and uplifting for sure, then ' Dzis' closes out with chugging percussion and strummed acoustic guitars. It's a heart of the dance floor gem full of love and good-time vibes.

Review: The latest smooth groover on Is It Balearic? is Michael David, who comes with that gorgeous, 80s tinged sound to make you suck your cheeks in and nod approvingly. "Melona" is a blissful dream of cascading keys and languid guitar strums, which Chris Massey then shuffles up for a snappy, funk-laced remix. "Onewish" opens the B-side up in a swirl of vocoder flex and liberal dub FX, before "Two Voices" casts off towards the horizon on a bed of beautiful keys. Opulent musicality and pristine production make this a must-buy Balearic transmission - the perfect tool to keep the summer alive.

Review: Is It Balearic make a big signing here as Dr Bronzer appears on the label with a first-ever release. It's a 12" awash with warm California sun as A-side tune 'Sandee Bottoms' hats back to a golden 90s Balearic era with its loose-limbed drums and warm synth smears. Coyote offers up a sleazy dub and 'Wet Dreams' then appears on the flip. It's a more intense and busy tune with cowbells, broken house beats, steamy vocals and muted acid next to strummed acoustic riffs. Max Essa then shows his skills on a fine remix and lastly, Projection go deep and smoochy on their remix.

Review: The by-now seminal Is It Balearic label welcomes long-time Balearic boss Max Essa for another superbly horizontal offering that will take you to the beach no matter where you are. He is a regular on this label who has been serving up top tunes and compiling superb collections like 2016's 10-Year Anniversary comp for ages, and the quality levels never dip. Review: Heralding brighter days is surely the job of Is It Balearic?, a label whose entire raison d'etre is silky smooth sounds for long days spent sipping cocktails on sunkissed terraces. This time around, Max Essa and Eddie C have gone head to head, with the former delivering the original tunes and the latter dropping the remixes. Essa gets into full-spectrum deep house for the baggy crowd on 'Jigsaw Moon', which Eddie C promptly pitch shifts and rubs down with some understated acid. 'Jules Y Cyntia' is a mellower offering, revelling in languid guitar, only to be gently pumped up by Eddie C with a heavy, chugging undercarriage to take you deep into the sundown.

Review: 2016 sees Coyote arrive at a decade of posing the question Is It Balearic? Replicating the compilation shaped celebrations surrounding their fifth anniversary, the landmark is noted with this fine 2CD collection. The compiling skills of Balearic chieftain Max Essa are called on for the first disc selections, with Coyote taking care of business on the second for a fine horizontally-minded celebration of all things Balearic encompassing 22 tracks. Tempos nudge back and forth, different vibes coming to the fore along the way as a dash of steel drum is replaced by forthright synth glistens and upright basslines. Legends mingle alongside future heroes, Foolish Felix and Baldelli impressing as much as Last Waltz and Clandestino. As the end nears, up pops Prins Thomas's classic Diskomiks of Downtown Party Network. Here's to another ten years Is it Balearic?

There is plenty of mellow and dreamy West Coast lushness to 'Hidden Thoughts' with its shimmering synths and seductive vocal coos while the first remix from Hitchhiker steps up the energy with an arp-ed sound. Das Complex gets dark and chugging as is his usual want on the flipside, then Cafe Del Mar resident Ken Fan offers a trademark chillout sound to close out another most calming EP from this great label.

Featuring Jo Bartlett (Yellow Moon Band) on vocals, Andy Bell (Oasis and Ride amongst others) & Duncan Gray on guitars, Kev Sharkey (That Petrol Emotion, The Undertones, Elvis Costello to name a few) on percussion, Mick Somerset Ward on Sax (Clock DVA, Was Not Was, Crooked Man). This Is Something is a driving pop groover reminiscent of a late 80's early 90's Indie Dance anthem. The Dub mix invites the OG mix to ALFOS, turns the lights off and presses the smoke button for a chuggy heartwarming trip across the dance floor. There are no words to describe Rico Connings mix other than to say this 10 min journey has to be heard to be believed. A genuine Balearic gem.

Review: Having cruised around labels such as La Luna, Tusk Wax and most tellingly Back To The Balearics, Maricopa has already left a trail of smooth-sailing breadcrumbs behind him, and now he drops anchor in a harbour which may yet prove to be his spiritual home. 'Is It Balearic?' is a question that hardly needs to be asked when you're drifting out to sea on the blissful tones of "Benthos" or reveling in the expressive ripples of "Deer", but it's safe to say these jams would go down smooth with a Mediterranean sunset and an Aperol Spritz.

Review: Marius Circus is well known and loved for a signature analogue sound and once again that is laid out for us all to enjoy here on a new EP that comes with a remix from men of the moment Jazxing. First up is the deep, unhurried and dubbed out 'Lost On A Path To Nowhere,' a subtle late-night sound with wispy synths and a muted bassline that grows ever more prominent. The Jazxing Pathfinder remix is more tropical and steamy, and on the flip 'No Way Home' douses you in more blissed-out chords before the downbeat boogie of 'Space Crumbs Trail'. This is yet more essential summer goodness from Is It Balearic.

Review: French producer Jerome Barresi assumes his Robert's Diary Palais here for a new outing on Is It Balearic that offers something a little adjacent to the norm. Opener 'Dinky Bird' is a mix of tender keys and hand claps with a soulful vocal sample that reminds of early-era Moby. Norse mainstay Bjorn Torske appears then to remix and brings some scuttling percussive sounds and watery effects over four-four drums. 'Six O Six' is a yearning dub cut packed with wild FX and 'KXP' is a zoned-out and tinny retro-future nu-disco cut that is a perfect B-side.

Review: Surprisingly, it's been some four years since Croat producer Ilija Rudman dropped his much-played debut album, The Reveal, on Bear Funk. Happily, True Colours - his first outing on Is It Balearic - sees him in fine form, joining the dots between kaleidoscopic synth-funk, rubbery dub-disco, spaced-out boogie and glassy-eyed downtempo jams. Rudman is an expert at capturing the sounds of bygone eras, usually through the use of vintage equipment, while delivering tracks that sound thoroughly fresh and original. It's this that makes True Colours such a fantastic set. Highlights are plentiful, from the close dance smoothness of "Bad Passion" and boogie dub vibes of "All The Time" (check the delay-laden hits and sweeping violins) to the jaunty electro-goes-Balearic brilliance of "Wild Guess".

Review: The iconic Is It Balearic heads to the slightly less iconic - in Balearic terms - West Midlands to retrieve this great EP of electric dance effort gems from Wrekin Havoc. 'Camino' is a loose, melody-rich sound with silvery drums and real nostalgia, then 'Moon Dance' it's a more laidback and zoned out sonic daydream for lazy and sunny afternoons by the pool. There is an electro vibe to 'RLTW' which is a reworking of a Christopher Cross Yacht classic then a T Kurt Remix reworks it into a boogie banger. Another varied and vital EP of grown up dance sounds.
