Cosmos (6:40)
Cosmos (Prins Thomas Diskomiks) (6:41)
Cosmos (Telephones Subspace remix) (7:20)
Cosmos (Beatless) (3:41)
Review: After All Is Well visited his friend Martin Iveson in his UK studio, the pair had lay down a few killer cuts, but the most standout of the lot was this one, which is sort of what it might sound like if Jean-Michel Jarre did Norwegian Cosmic disco. It's defined by the Korg Monopoly's weird paraphony and is rhythmically sustained by the Arp 2600 Bass line. Who else to remix but the legendary Prins Thomas, who layers in deep, funky bass, then Telephones explore the edges of the cosmos with a Subspace mix before a beatless version is also included.

Brother (Alan Dixon Piano reprise remix) (2:24)
Brother (Alan Dixon Love Attack remix) (6:49)
The New Normal (5:59)
Review: Philip Leroi has had many musical lives over the years, variously recording as Linntronix and alongside Danny Sugarman as Stylus Heat. Atlantic Brain is his latest project, with the EP for Prins Thomas's Internasjonal label being his most high-profile to date. The key cut is 'Brother', a sparkling, melodious and attractive slab of electro marked out by squelchy bass and star-fall melodies. Rising star Alan Dixon delives two takes: a gorgeous, largely beat-free 'Piano Reprise' that sits at the rhythmic end of the ambient spectrum and the squelchy nu-disco-goes-deep house 'Love Attack Mix'. Elsewhere, 'The New Normal' is a shuffling and ghostly electro-not-electro number and 'Sticky Fingers' is a pleasingly wayward acid excursion.

Tonight I´m Flying (Idjut Seepage)
Tonight I´m Flying (Idjut Boys Bell End dub)
Review: Bell Towers is alias of the wonderfully named Melbourne resident Roman Wafers. Bell Towers is one half of the Bamboo Musik DJ Team. Bell Towers is by our counts the first Australian added to the Internasjonal network of excellence overseen by Sir Prins Thomas. Tonight I'm Flying marks him out as a fine new addition to the ambassadorial cause, presenting two cuts that draw on all manner of classic electro, freestyle, early house, italo, soaring soul strings and much more. And look old hands The Idjut Boys add some disco vintage to proceedings with no less than two superbly warped takes on the title track.

Migration
Review: Having previously plied their trade on Dissident, Death From Abroad and Tiny Sticks, it was probably only a matter of time before production duo Cage & Aviary popped up on Prins Thomas' impressive Internasjonal imprint. With a sound that regularly flits between skuzzy, lo-fi synth-rock, druggy electronica and intoxicating dancefloor oddness, the London-based duo are a good fit for the Norwegian's left-of-centre label. Migration, their debut album, will delight those who've followed their career to date. As well as new versions of familiar favourites - "Giorgio Carpenter", "Television Train" etc - it unveils a flock of new cuts in a dizzying variety of styles (off-beat disco, dubbed-out punk funk, skewed Balearica, vintage synth-wave, even a dash of saucer-eyed acid).

Review: After 2019's excellent Syrius album, Norwegian label Internasjonal are happy to announce the return of Feel Fly to their label. The Perugia-based artist presents something that sonically exists between Italian dream house, 90s dance and traces of early Chicago. Reach for the lasers on the euphoric 'Cosmo Cosmo', embrace a higher state of consciousness on the loved up trance of 'Sinfonia Celeste' and dive down into the cosmic hole on 'Playa Paraiso' reminiscent of Typhoon club's heady tribal days.

Cero (Prins Thomas Diskomiks)

Cero (Tuff City Kids mix 1)
Cero (Tuff City Kids mix 2)
Review: Both Tough City Kids and Prins Thomas supply two mixes each for Galarude's "Cero", released through Prins Thomas and Kai Fraeger Internasjonal imprint, but originally on Japanese label Locarno Records almost 10 years ago. PT's trademark "Diskomiks" burrows down hard on a vamped bassline adding Balearic electronics to the fray, whereas his "Ambiens" mix, as the titles track suggests, is devoid of beats and the bassline from his "Diskomiks". The first mix by Tough City Kids (Gerd Jansen & Phillip Lauer) re-rubs the originals synths and simplifies the tracks busy drums, opting for a Human League kick-snare routine instead. Their second mix boils down things even further with a remix that could have easily been labelled "bonus beats".

Cero (original version)
Cero (DJ Harvey remix)
Review: Second time round for Galarude's "Cero", which first appeared on Japan's Locarno Records way back in 2004. Produced by DJ Kent, Hiroshi Kawanabe and Noriyoshi Sassanuma (Sly Mongoose), the original version is a near perfect fusion of heavy tribal drums, beautiful tropical melodies and darting Balearic electronics. It may be nine years old, but it still sounds wonderfully fresh. That Prins Thomas has selected it for reissue is no surprise. This time round, there's also a bonus remix from hairy legend DJ Harvey. The reclusive party-starter shuffles the pack impressively, adding some snaking saxophone action on a version that delights in bringing out the original's most positive elements.

Europe (Prins Thomas Diskomiks) (6:07)
Review: Norway has always had its own cosmic take on house and disco and with each new release from the region that continues to be the case. Sound Support is next up to take the reins on Internasjonal Norway with a lush EP of astral electronics and dreamy grooves. 'Stab By Stab' opens up with a strident beat and suspensory chords that warm the soul, and 'Europe' then sinks into a more late night broken beat vibe that's pure gold. 'Catwalk' is a colourful number with characterful key work and the master of this sounds, Prins Thomas, then steps up with one of his famous Diskomiks and takes things further out into the stratosphere than anyone.

Weekend Lights (Axel Boman Trans Mig Upp remix) (13:10)
Review: It's been almost seven years since the last single from Japanese duo Traks Boys, making this return to Prins Thomas' Internasjonal label long overdue. Happily, it's arguably the production pair's strongest release to date. The A-side boasts two new treats: the thrillingly choppy and thrusting, off-kilter warehouse roller "Be With U", where vocal stabs, jumpy riffs and starry synth lines ride a bustling groove, and the gorgeously sunny Balearic house climax that is sunrise-friendly title track "Weekend Lights". On the flip, Axel Boman remixes the latter track, turning in a meandering, loose and gently melodious interpretation that bubbles away for 13 spellbinding minutes.

Review: Here's an interesting proposition: a debut album from a hitherto unknown American producer on Prins Thomas' globally-focussed Internasjonal imprint. To say that Oregon-based musician Tridact has little previous pedigree, it's an impressive debut. Fusing fuzzy old analogue synths (think Stereolab or vintage kraut rock) with Balearic guitar flourishes, lazy disco grooves and sprightly electronic melodies, it's a jolly and at times utterly joyful set (see "J24 at Sunset", "Cold Star" and "Over The Clouds"). While comparisons can be made with, say, fellow American nu-Balearic twiddlers Windsurf or Hatchback, there's a freshness and rhythmic urgency that was lacking on those largely super laidback affairs. Well worth a listen.

Time To Go
Review: Prins Thomas' globally-focused Internasjonal imprint scored a hitherto unexpected hit earlier this summer with the release of Tridact's self titled debut album. A largely unknown American producer, Tridact delivered a ten track set that surpassed fellow US Balearic twiddlers like Windsurf and Hatchback via a refreshing rhythmic urgency. The lack of vinyl release for the album is compensated by Internasjonal with this twelve inch that contains perhaps the most joyous moments. Certainly the glorious bursts of colour that spring forth from the fuzzy analogue groove of opening track "Over The Clouds" make this a worthwhile purchase. Alongside it "Light Minute" recalls Stereolab at their finest, whilst "Cold Star" accrues the kind of cosmic bliss that makes you understand why Prins Thomas was eager to secure an album from Tridact.
