Terms Of Propaganda
Review: There's not much that we know about techno deviant Campbell Irvine apart from the fact that he's released on Function and Inland's Infrastructure label before. Oh, we do also know that he makes deep and textural electronic music which borders on the clinically insane. "Prism Split (A Scrying Song)" is a percussive bundle of sonics and ethereal quasi-melodies, "Reunion Of Two Bodies" is a glitchy, no nonsense techno number that's been stripped of bass drums, whereas "Terms Of Propaganda" lies somewhere in the vast soundscape between drone and noise. Gorgeous artwork, too.

Invitation (5:40)
New Designation (7:20)
Aeternum (Meridian) (5:49)
Desire & Memory (Live Extraction) (6:40)
Review: Trusty techno talent Function keeps it relatively deep on this new EP for the Infrastructure label. It kicks off with the backlit glow and delicate techno hypnosis of 'Invitation' with its funky broken drums and mournful pads, while 'New Designation' is moody ambient from a space mission far off in the future. 'Aeternum Meridian' rides on an electro-tinged rhythm with more sustained chords bringing a sense of finality and melancholy and then 'Desire & Memory Live Extraction' brings a more dystopian sound with thunderous claps and wiry synths. A well-crafted EP with lots to offer.

Regis - "Asbestos" (Sleeparchive remix) (6:01)
Re:Group - "Left" (6:04)
Review: This remastered reissue from the Infrastructure NY archives is one that captures the exact start of Function's involvement in the Sandwell District project. It was recorded while he was over in Berlin for a gig and the rest is history. Regis's 'Asbestos' (Sleeparchive remix) is the sort of pulsating, supple, rubbery minimal techno that takes you down a deep dark rabbit hole at 5am and you never want to leave. Re:Group's 'Left' on the flipside is more textured and rides on a broken beat with twitchy synths and dystopian futuristic energy running all through it. Classic techno that still sounds fresh.
