Review: Dance death-harbinger Drumskull's latest EP, 'Muscle Memory,' weaves a hypnotic tapestry of sound that builds on the artist's dual sonic and audiovisual artistry. Uniquely combining the quite far-flung-from-each-other genres of footwork, jungle and deep house; this is an unusual EP that draws on everything from the scratchiest oldskool rave tropes to more modern dance approaches. It's no surprise we hear a rare, rhythmically swaying, and ecstatic remix from Lone on the B, not to mention a grime curveball version from maestro LMajor.

Review: We are gathered here today to celebrate the holy matrimony of our souls with the dancefloor. United by a 'Love So True' for reaching for the lasers, leaping around like a fool and grinning like a cat who hasn't just got the cream but owns an entire cream conglomerate... We shall never be parted. Certainly not as long as Prayer continues to make music like this. Stunning, undiluted rave sounds with all the twinkles and rushes we've inherited from our 90s ancestors, this vinyl version of his 2022 release contains a whole new testament of cuts. Joining the stompy 'Reflection', the dreamy 'More Than I Could', the uncut rave gospel of 'Take It Easy' and 'A Love So True' are four more belters such as the triumphant 'Love Fantasy' and the emotional 'No One left'. Elevating the original EP into more of a mini album, this is an outstanding dispatch from the Hooversound crew.

Review: Samurai Breaks is the alias of Sam Langley, who's been throwing down some wild style rave gear for the likes of Sheffield's Off Me Nut amongst many others. Having graced Hooversound last year alongside Nova Cheq in 2022, now he's going alone with this six-strong testament to the frenetic new forms rave is being moulded into. The breaks, the hoover stabs, the MC samples - it's all in there, but there's a twitchy modernism to the way Langley juggles his source material which feels incredibly fresh. You can hear the whisper of footwork influence in the needlepoint rhythmic flex of 'Mystery Wobbler (dub)' while jump up casts its influence over gnarly shocker 'Skippy' and of course there's plenty of jungle vibes flying around this madcap EP from a fierce new talent.

Review: Blimey, crikey, gadzooks, flipping heck. Whatever your choice of exclamation, make sure you execute it with the same energy, creativity and passion as our lads Thugwidow and Bruised Skies. An exciting fusion of kindred energies on Hooversound, a label resonates with every ounce of their ravey charm and authentic ethic, each of these cuts hits hard with sweaty, visceral and often chaotic energy. Highlights include the four to the floor horsepower of 'Historical Absolutism' and the skin-rippling, hair-singeing, heart-popping ravey hype of 'Blimey'. Sheesh! What a powerful slab of wax.
