Review: Hot on the heels of the updated DAF stylings of that Schwefelgelb 12", Enfant Terrible / Gooiland Elektro demonstrate the breadth of their output with this plate from Tobias Bernstrup. A decorated contemporary artist from Gothenburg, Bernstrup is one of those annoyingly talented individuals who works across visual, interactive, performance art and electronic music mediums and if there's a new wave of Italo Disco he's definitely amongst the top 5%. The Destruction EP is classic Bernstrup mixing elements of Italo with synth pop and at times it sounds like Bernard Sumner's been in the studio with Ali Renault. Dancefloor hits for the neo-romantics among us!

At The End
Chemins Similaires
The Division
Review: Having debuted on Gooiland Elektro last year with a contribution on their Les Annees Folles vinyl compilation, the excellently named Cute Heels returns to the Dutch label for a full release with the four track Techniques A Cross 12". Tipped as the new blood and spirit for the next step in techno music' by the great man Juan Atkins, the Belgian dwelling Columbian producer Victor Lenis is on fine form here, dragging you heels first through a quartet of techno productions with a delicious nod to the genres that helped inform it. Thus the title track is industrially charged EBM, sort of like a malfunctioning Bintus performing a Nitzer Ebb cover version, whilst "Chemins Similaires" and "The Division" are pure lo-fi Drexciyan delight.

Cute Heels - "Silence Complot"
Drvg Cvltvre - "Year Zero"
Ekman - "2 To The 64th Minus 1"
Marburg - "XXVIII" (drone variant)
Review: Ekman, DRVG CVLTRE, Cute Heels and Marburg all feature on Club Funny Horse, a killer 12" sized compilation from the Gooiland Elektro label. Taking the New Beat sounds of 1980s Belgian nightclubs as their starting point, the four producers veer off in their own distinct paths and the results are thrilling. Berlin-based Columbian producer Cute Heels is first up with "Silence Complot" which essentially sounds like a proto-Comeme production, all raw drums, cheap synth lines and a corrugated arpeggio that you can almost taste the rust off. Vincent Koreman turns in one of his darkest, trippiest productions yet under the DRVG CVLTVRE on "Year Zero" with the track taking a post-apocalyptic turn midway through. The severely under-rated Ekman takes it to the basement with the viscous "2 To The 64th Minus 1" whilst Marburg ends the release on a more esoteric note with the quietly menacing "XXVIII (Drone Variant)"

No Justice No Peace
I Am The Sword In The Darkness
Bad Reputation
Do You Wanna Do You Wanna
Review: The second Gooiland Elektro release of the week comes from DRVG CVLTVRE. The recently adopted alias of Dutch veteran Vincent Koreman, DRVG CVLTLRE has been releasing some heat across Viewlexx and Pinkman so a dalliance with Gooiland makes perfect sense. Although Koreman describes the DRVG CVLTVRE sound as Doom Disco, there are plenty of other elements at play on Oblivion, as demonstrated on lead track "No Justice No Peace" which is a glorious slice of acid filled industrial techno. Alongside this "I Am The Sword In The Darkness" is all simmering New Beat whilst "Bad Reputation" falls even further down the acid rabbit hole. Final cut "Do You Wanna Do You Wanna" might operate at a slower pace but it still sounds like the best Rotterdam squat party you'll ever go to.

Do I Make You Nervous?
Don't Let Them In
Hail To The Big Worm
Second Sight
Review: Under the Ekman name, Dutch producer Roel Dijcks has been in devastating form this year, haunting the finer dancehalls with his own distinct brand of dark and nasty electro and techno for Solar One, Abstract Forms and impressive newcomer Berceuse Heroique. Reform for the latter label is perhaps our favourite of the lot but the Nervous EP, Ekman's debut for the splendidly deranged Gooiland Elektro is serious stuff. Both the lead track "Do I Make You Nervous?" and "Hail To The Big Worm" have that grotty Rotterdam squat party vibe that's so appealing about Ekman's productions whilst "Don't Let Them In" mixes the deepset paranoia of a D'Marc Cantu production with brushes of new beat synthetics.

Journey To The House Of Bodies
Review: The supreme joint curatorial hands of Enfant Terrible and Gooiland Electro offer up this excellent 12" transmission of rare German dark wave act Flying Bodies. Formed of Beta Evers and Charles Kent, Flying Bodies was a short lived project that only ever recorded three tracks and this record presents the first time two of them have been pressed to vinyl. Lead track "Transformer" sets the tone, thick gloopy basslines trying to consume the snapping drum machine rhythms whilst Evers does her Teutonic ice queen thing over the rising tide of minimal synths. Complementing this, "Journey To The House Of Bodies" takes a more experimental approach, described quite aptly as "perfect for night drives on the highway".

Futile Struggle
All-In & Losing The Game
Review: Gooiland Elektro and Enfant Terrible team up to deliver Bas Welling's third Former Descent EP in two years! Welling's sound cannot be pinned down to one genre, that's for sure. Mixing up electro, breaks and house like no tomorrow, Former Descent is simply a product of Holland's rich rave dynasty. "Right Between Those Eyes" takes an electro bassline and slaps down a hard, militant 4/4 beat, while "Tough Love International" slows the ruckus down to a deeper, more pensive electro number. Flipping over to the B-side, "Futile Struggle" is possibly the most hummable of the four thanks to its instantly gripping bassline and old-school flavour, whereas "All-in & Losing The Game" heads over to the hardcore side where Former Descent proceeds to slam down a potent beat groove followed by one mean low-end. Tip!

Las Fuerzas Grises (Nos Estan Rodeando) (4:44)
Review: Angry, abrasive and thoroughly menacing, but in a 'still would drop in a club' kinda way, Futuro De Hierro prove there will always be a place in Spanish electronic music culture for industrial-leaning EBM chaos that forgot how to take prisoners long before any prisoners were up for the taking. Heavy, heavy music that's not for the faint-hearted, if the movie Blade had been real and there actually was a vampire club this is likely to be something along the lines of what would be played. Don't be scared, though, it's definitely worth braving the harsh edges at work here. 'Las Fuerzas Grises' is a broken beat joy that could pound any dancefloor into submission, whispered and barely-audible spoken word vocals adding to the feeling of future punk. 'Costumbres Y Medidas' is industrial techno along the foreboding dread-filled drone lines, 'Construir' sounds like 'Machine Gun' by Portishead finally found its warzone.

Review: Holland's legendary Enfant Terrible and Gooiland Elektro empire present a new addition to their roster with the debut EP from Kit N Claws. On Desertofsameness, the Kit N Claws sound is presented as both delicate and extremely spartan at the same time. Tracks like "Getoffthefun", although immediately distinguishable thanks to their dirty hardware aesthetic and subtle swarms of distortion, are both cinematic and heady. Even the more club-oriented and superbly titled "Drefuckgoth" could be just as easily enjoyed in the company of a pair of headphones and an open mind! Classy sounds from the Dutch camp, as per usual.

Dans Mon Desordre (5:42)
Solitude (4:21)
En Retirant (5:52)
Review: LCN is the alias for Le Chocolat Noir, an artist whose thirst for roughneck electro seems absolutely devoid of any sort of replenishment. The man's been active for near ten years now, skipping and hopping from label to label, and he lands on Gooiland Elektro, a subsidiary of Enfant Terrible, with these four stomping bangers. The A-side twists and turns its industrial gears with a fluid motion, bubbling up all sorts of dark energies from the depths of the inferno; the flip is no less magnetic in its look-and-feel, offering up two dicey cuts - "Solitude" and "En Retirant" - the former being a deep excursion into cold-waves and the latter a nasty, vibrating acid hybrid for the warehouse.

Review: Dutch label Enfant Terrible welcome back Leroy Se Meurt after the Parisian pair's sold out last EP a year ago. Again this one comes with mad punk influences, abrasive sound design and spangled grooves that will tie clubs in knots. It is also rich with the same sense of urgency and immediacy that defines their famous live shows. Wild and in your face, there is the dark techno of "Nefas" and rave shock of "Evasion" next to strobe lit biker disco on "Bapteme Du Mepris" and slow motion debauchery on "Lagim".

Can't Stop Shaking
Dormant
Review: It's as if throughout the production process and mastering session of Profligate's Can't Stop Shaking EP faulty connections and loose wiring were intended to give the two tracks a distinctly broken timbre. The title track, infected with a T.V-static buzz, marches with the most basic, but effective, industrial back beat drums, while classic New York electro synths offer a "Can't Stop Shaking" its melody. "Dormant" on the other hand is more frenetic in its arrangement, as megaphone vocals treated to a band-pass filter are embedded into a gauzy crowd of harsh textures and arpeggiated chords that ebb and flow between the despondent and uplifting.

Review: Big week for Dutch imprint Gooiland Elektro who bring on the maximum possible bleakness; first with Radko and now with the foreboding hydra that is Roberto Auser and Melting Dogma. Auser aka Derk Reneman on side A contributes the typically Dutch greyscale electro snarl of 'Man With Dead Leg' followed by a mental slow techno cut 'Imperative'. On the flip, Melting Dogmas, a side project of 4cantons, continues to go at it full force with the hypnotic 303 tunnel vision of 'Wanting To Be With' followed by the body bashing IDM fury of 'Indistinguishable Indications'.

Review: Rude 66 does not need an introduction. This Dutch acid and electro veteran has been around for a long time, a fully paid up member of the old school acid scene from The Hague with a discography to match - Creme, Bunker, Viewlexx, Acid Planet have all indulged some Rude 66. Under Cover Of The Night sees Ruud Lekx add Gooiland Elektro to his respected profile, adopting a dark electro approach that's perfectly suited to the label. The A Side features two vocal tracks with Beta Evers and Sololust appearing as partners in crime, whilst the flip brandishes two instrumental tracks that are pure Rude 66, melding together elektro, acid (beat) and a touch of old school gothic!

Review: Imperious and unpredictable throughout the course of their releases in 2013, Dutch label Gooiland Elektro resurface with what we presume is their final two part transmission of the year, with the focus here on Swedish singer and songwriter Saralunden. The Gothenburg based Sara Lunden lands on the Enfant Terrible sub label with quite a discography to her name, operating on numerous DIY labels in her homeland and issuing everything from avant garde dark wave and synth pop to more downtempo fare. Some four tracks deep, the Suggestive Boy 12" will appeal to fans of acts like Chromatics or Sally Shapiro looking for something a bit darker, moody and world weary - "I Look Good" is a particular highlight.

Review: The latest transmission from the Enfant Terrible / Gooiland Elektro empire sees the welcome return of Schwefelgelb, a prolific techno duo from Berlin. Jonas Forster and Philipp Graf are Schwefelgelb and together they dabble in what they refer to as Grostadtmusik, a sort of technologically boosted update on what DAF were doing, so it's not Berlin techno in the Berghain sense, more techno in the mould that Helena Hauff might drop at Hamburg club Golden Pudel. Raw proto EBM blessed with a contemporary touch and plenty of taut Teutonic chanting - "non stop decadent party music" as Gooiland put it!

Obeah
Review: This Morn Omina provides the prolific Gooiland Elektro label with an impressive tenth 12" of the year. It's TMO's first release since the L'Unification Des Forces Opposantes album of 2011, but it's a four-track EP that sounds like it came straight from the mid-to-late-'80s. A high octane "Epoch (ccf)" opens proceedings with industrial rave-beats and Skinny Puppy-like vocals, while "(The) Ninth Key (ccf)" pounds down heavy like an early Regis production - paired with Karl O'Conner's vocals similar to what we heard on the excellent White Savage Dance 12". The B-side of "The Immutable Sphere (ccf)" would nestle neatly into a Terence Fixmer DJ set thanks to its Front 242 styled aggression, while "Obeah" features the frenetic drums and flusters of random instrumentation reminiscent of an early Liam Howlett production for The Prodigy. For EBM enthusiast this is a no brainer.

Review: Pitch black antics by Greek industrial noise terror (and Liber Null main man) Unhuman, alongside Dutch modular maniac Derk Reneman aka Roberto Auser for this collaboration between imprints Gooiland Elektro and Enfant Terrible out of Holland. Unhuman (Emmanouil Simotas) takes care of the A side of the release, immediately treading the left hand path on the slow burning acid sludge of "Faces Of Death", followed by the seething EBM reduction of "Seven Days". On the flip, Auser lunges straight for the jugular on the brooding and contorted techno experiment that is "Avalon", followed by the pummelling four to the floor grindcore of "Unexplained".
