Funk
  1. Searching For Soul (edit) (2:40)
  2. Show-stopper (edit) (3:54)
Review: Galaxy Sound Co hit hard with two more edits. Both taking from triple figure sources; on the A we go back to 1968 for a chunky big funk fix on Jake Wade & The Soul Searcher's only known single "Searching For Soul" (which was famously sampled by Beyonce on "Suga Mama"). Bangini drums, horns, and a sweet bass line, the guys knew how to lay it down. Flip to the B we're blessed with the sweltering garage rock melter "Show-stopper". Powerful and sleazy; this packs a punch now more than ever, and just goes to show how much music was under the radar at that time.

Multitrack Edits (limited hand-stamped 7")

Disco/Nu-Disco
  1. Track 1 (Multi Trax mix 1) (4:50)
  2. Track 2 (Multi Trax mix 2) (4:43)
Review: Multi-track re-edits, where producers utilize the instrumental and vocal parts found on studio master tapes, are all the rage right now. While the Rephlex crew and Joey Negro are the most famous exponents of the art, Galaxy Sound Co regular Kadena has previously proved to be rather adept at it, too. Here the little-known producer channels the spirit of original disco remixer Walter Gibbons, first to provide a lolloping, groove-based revision of Instant Funk's intergalactic Salsoul classic "I Got My Mind Made Up" (side A), and then to deliver a similarly minded take on First Choice's "Let No Man Put Asunder". Like its A-side companion, it's warmer, looser and predominantly instrumental, with judicious use of key vocal passages.

Disco/Nu-Disco
  1. Sparkle (5:48)
  2. Star (7:17)
  3. Funke Worm (remix) (4:16)
  4. Hydraulic (remix) (4:48)
Review: For their latest batch of must-have reworks, Galaxy Sound Company welcomes back Starmachine AKA Marshall Applewhite, a scalpel fiend who last appeared on the hush-hush imprint back in 2016. This time round he begins with "Sparkle", a bouncy, disco-house style revision of an obscure late 1970s disco gem, before going deeper into a fuzzy disco-funk groove on loopy workout "Star". Over on the flip, "Funke Worm" layers high register analogue synth solos over a chunky peak-time groove, while "Hydraulic (Remix)" whacks a suitably bumpin' house beat below a P-Funk Allstars cut that never gets old.
