Review: Acid Pimp, also known as Tom Newman (though details vary), unveiled their creation, 'Theme' last year and now it arrives once more on nice yellow vinyl. This track exemplifies their mastery in transforming a classic sound into a delightfully off-kilter, reality-distorting experience within the realm of acid techno. The eight-track offering explores a spectrum, from intriguingly hollow compositions like 'Top' to serenely pulsating tunes such as 'Crispy Toe,' showcasing the sonic prowess of a seasoned production virtuoso. This release follows Acid Pimp's return to 'Acid Pimping' in 2019, leaving us eager to embrace more sonic innovations from this creative maven.

Review: Manchester's Robbie Mecrow is an acid and electro specialist who is therefore a perfect fit for the interplanetary sounds of Furthur Electronix. This marks his fourth EP on a fourth different label in three years, which might be a slow pace but the music is worth waiting for. There is roomy, IDM inspired atmosphere on 'Spatial Plucks' then more jungle leaning breaks and glistening metallic surfaces on 'Xsd'. The fantastic 'Reconbination' might just be the EP highlight however with its broad bass, twisted drum loops and forlorn sense of mood. 'Rev' (Stack Refix) is an airy, ambient laced closer that suspends you in a techno dreamscape.

Review: Amid a ton of releases on the likes of Wrong Island and CPU in recent months, the legendary recovering optimist Automatic Tasty now flings a full album upside our faces. His ninth long'un, as always it's both jaunty and contemplative in equal measure as he tweaks his machines to create bubbling little narratives that weave in and out of the shades. At one moment you're weeping to a sartorial lament ("Illegal Trousers"), the next you're skipping on clouds on a secret level in your favourite childhood side-scroller ('One Of These Days'), the next you're doing the locomotion on Tomorrow's World ('Dialup') the next you're rolling out the lino for a slo-mo robo dance ('Scaldy Fiver') Slinky, cheery, honest analog fun; You'll Never Work In This Town Again isn't a threat... It's a promise

Review: Thanks to a swathe of superb EPs over the last few years for the likes of 2020 Vision, Lunar Disko, Further Electronix, Altered Sense and Unknown to the Unknown, long-serving electro producer Cignol is enjoying something of a career renaissance. As a result, some of his earliest releases have become in-demand and hard-to-find - hence this reissue of his long-overlooked, but utterly brilliant, 2010 debut album, Switching For a Living. Offering an attractive mixture of sci-fi seeped, far-sighted tracks informed by 1990s IDM, deep electro, downtempo, ambient and acid, it's a coherent but varied affair that has well and trily lasted the test and time - thanks, in part, to Cignol's intention to make it a genuine "listening album". Recommended.

Review: Irish electro don Cignol is back on Furthur Electronix with more of his top class sonic excursions. He opens this latest EP with 'Glee Arch' which pairs far-sighted chords with celestial pads and broken rhythms. 'Keyss' is a melancholic piece with meaningful chords front and centre and pixelated keys macing around the edges as the woodpecker beats provide the motion. The tenderness of his synths and keys continues on 'Electrob' which has more plaintive melodies paired with bristling beats and then closer 'Staying On Drugs' is a colourful and loose rhythm that feels like it might all fall apart.

Review: Furthur Electronix has always been a highly recommended label but they seem to be in a purple patch right now with a wealth of essentials releases all dropping in quick fashion. It is Kreggo who steps up this time with a new limited run 12" that follows his last on the label last year. The Milan based artist is eclectic and throughly underground and is the brain behind the Art-Aud label and the cult Secret Rave series. His electro sound here is raw and rugged, with bumping drums, fixing synths and flashes of acid all making these standout cuts.

Review: Brighton imprint Furthur Electronix continues full steam ahead with its prolific output this year, and it's a big week for them. Alongside a great EP by Aussie Lou Karsh, we have this new one by Greek producer George Kontogiannidis aka Pera Sta Ori, who has racked up some impressive releases thus far on Musar, Brokntoys and Yellow Machines. As on previous works, the Sick Apian EP further explores Kontogiannidis' love of classic UK rave sounds. For instance A side cut 'Antio Zoi (TGRCCC)' utilises pitch shifted hardcore breaks underpinned by a dystopian electro atmosphere. Over on the flip, its '95 all over again on the breakneck junglist stepper 'Xypna' followed by the complex and hypnotic riddims of 'KodS0520 Fyllorroo'.

Review: Tusken Raiders is of course Michael Paradinas, the man behind Planet Mu as well as many of his own killer productions. Famously, this alias had to be put to sleep after George Lucas's lawyers found out about it after one of his releases on Clear back in the day, so he renamed himself Rude Ass Tinker - an anagram the original alias. But now it is back out of retirement for this collection on Further Electronix of all the recent EPs he has released. The tracks are built on brilliantly squelchy electro funk, cosmic techno, brain dance melodies abound and the whole thing comes from a world controlled by AI and robots, but never loses sight of the dancefloor.
