Review: Remco Beekwilder crafts unrelenting techno for main room experiences. He is now back in that mode once again with his Moortgat EP on EMERALD. It manages to strike a balance between cold mistily remembered sounds and a heart-warming practical feel and across the four cuts there is a constant state of rhythmic flux. Driven by stark drum programming using the right amount of funk, all cuts share an underlying signature sound and are sure to clear your mind of all but the groove.

Review: Remco Beekwilder's The Dusk Hour EP is a perfect way for the Emerald label to mark its fifth anniversary and 17th release: it is uncompromising techno through and through. Hints of 90s hard techno colour the driving drums and textured percussion of 'The Dusk Hour' while 'Transmax' is a loopy affair with oversized hi hat ringlets and more thumping kicks. This linear, driving style defines the B-side, too, with detail coming from distant vocal wails on 'Avia' and Detroit minimalism on 'Early Birmingfunk' while 'Rwina' closes out with a bang.

Review: Following the sudden impact of Remco Beekwilder's Moortgat EP, his label Emerald is straight back to it with a double pack VA release of quality hi-octane techno. Beekwilder himself kicks off proceedings with the nightmarish pressure of 'Rhythm Allegiance', and then we get a merry romp through all kinds of pile-driving gear from artists like Rove Ranger, Sedvs, Parano, Alarico and Jacobworld. While the vibes range from industrial and pounding to light and funky, the tempo maintains at the upper end of the spectrum, making this a very handy collection to have for those long-haul peak time gigs when you need to keep the crowd wound up.
