Review: The Dessert Island Discs series continues with yet more arch remixes from across the disco and boogie spectrum. Bubbles The Pimp kicks off the A side with a tasteful treatment of Gil Scott Heron's "Winter In America," which gets rustled up into a sweet and sassy house number with a cheeky acid b-line underneath. Nelly Wilson whips up a storm on the tightly clipped, peak time-oriented "Trapped & Confused". Pierre Pressure's "Love & Beyond" takes it easy on the B side with plenty of fluttering synth wobbles to offset the choppy funk of the guitar - it's a cosmically enhanced floor burner to get you all astral under the collar.

Review: The Dessert Island Discs stable are back with another four slices of disco manna to suit all palettes. James Curd is up first with the saucy guitar licks and sultry grooves of "Get With It Or Get Out", while Def Juff brings a breezy summer mood to a perennial classic on their version of "Wild Side". DJ Cinfit has cooked up a particularly potent broth of looped and funked up party juice with the utterly feel-good "Mud Wind", and then Bob cruises in with the slick Rhodes and velvety bass of "Strangers Make Better Friends". It's a four-pronged hit of tasteful, universal tones made to soundtrack the best of times.

Review: It's been a while, but finally Dessert Island Discs is back with another batch of feel-good party cakes hot and steaming out of the oven. There's a bunch of highly skilled patisserie chefs on hand to whip up the goods, from James Curd with the ludicrously steamy acid funker "This Girl Is Hot" to DJ Confit with the heavy looping disco house of "Yellow Day". Nelly Wilson is bringing some sassy disco edit business to the B side with the utterly infectious "Hapenis & Pleisure", and then Herb Flavor seals the deal with the fierce stomp of "Para Dice". If you want four full fat treats to get people popping, you can't go wrong with this one.

Review: If you need sweet and sticky pudding to satisfy the most gluttonous palettes in the party, leave it to Dessert Island Discs to bring the three course meal home. They're back with another two pastry chefs well versed in the art of disco glazed delicacies, kicking off with Herb Flavour's full-fat funk rub up "The Real Thing". It's bold and voluptuous and more than a little celebratory. Meanwhile on the flip Ted Empleton gets busy with the honey-coated perfection of Candido's "Jingo" which he re-bakes as a feisty house stomper, "Dingo Jingo". This is some seriously delicious business that will have the masses rubbing their bellies with approval, best believe.

Review: Dessert Island Disc's 10th release features a brilliant disco gem from the mighty Rahaan on the A side while the B throws up another Aussie local with his own label but going under the pseudonym of Ted Empleton. Both tracks laid out for a friendly tour of any dance floor with a Disco Bent. They don't last long - no digital release either so grab a copy before they're all gone and going for ridiculous money on Discogs!

Review: For the latest edition of the intriguing Dessert Islands Discs re-edit series, the label has called upon the well-renowned scalpel talents of German-in-Amsterdam Marcel Vogel, AKA Em Vee. The Double Denim-sporting eccentric drops another gem in the shape of "White Heat Shake It Out (Edit)", a bouncy and seductive disco chop-job that makes great use of the source material's bustling groove and steamy, spoken word vocals. On the flip, lesser-known re-edit heads Papi Del Pancake and Claude Von Reefer take up the challenge. Their "Gimme What You Got" has a little more deep house shuffle, but retains the key instrumentation and feel of a sumptuous disco-soul jam.
