Tiger's Eye
Tiger's Eye (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: CDA 035. Rel: 07 Mar 22
Techno
  1. Tiger's Eye
  2. Orgonite
  3. Orgonite (Riding The Waves)
Review: Berlin's Cocktail d'Amore and Tokyo's Ene Records have come together once again to present the music of Solidair. The duo of Cocktail alumni Luigi Di Venere and Jules Etienne present three tracks aimed to induce a dance floor hypnosis. Orgonite (Riding the Waves) does just that, a slow build awash in the ebb and flow of acid tinges, just enough to wet your whistle on a Saturday night. The original mix keeps the skeletal support but throws in a life preserver of 8 bit gaming synthesis. Frisky arps call and respond to each other before making way for sinewy pads to lift off. Tiger's Eye sets itself onto cruising speed incorporating elements of late 90's acid techno with the sleek and smooth clubbing aesthetics of modern day Berlin.

PENE d'Amore Pt 2
PENE d'Amore Pt 2 (180 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: CDA 028. Rel: 10 Jun 19
Deep House
  1. Mountain Of Madness (6:48)
  2. Rolling 2 Joints (Sativa mix) (5:36)
Review: Juan Ramos and Luca Trentini AKA Trent have had a couple of prior outings as Greenvision, especially impressing with their excellent 12" on ESP Institute last year. Now they're back to where it all began, Cocktail d'Amore, with the lurid, pysched out freakery of "Mountain Of Madness". It's a truly devilish track, coming on heavy like a dangerous incantation, which is of course a good thing. On the flip, things stay firmly out on the wild frontier with the Sativa mix of "Rolling 2 Joints". The message is clear - this is music to lose your mind to, and you'll have a thoroughly wonderful time doing it.

  1. Awalan
  2. Roda Rodi
  3. Kerontang
  4. Racacak
  5. Lorong K
Review: Jonathan Kusuma makes his return to Cocktail d'Amore with a love letter to his Indonesian homeland. Each song is steeped in the ancient textures and timbres of the gamelan, brought to life through modular synthesis. 'Awalan' opens the EP with a delicate touch - otherworldly chirps and aural colours of an early morning sunrise. 'Roda Rodi' as Mr. Kusuma explains is his interpretation of interlocking as a traditional Indonesian way of life - "Gotong Royong" or "Mutual Assistance". The idea of mutual assistance is the sharing of burdens between the member of community. Modular sequences tightly fitting into one another, helping to support one another in the structure of their momentary existence. 'Kerontang' and 'Racacak' are two cuts which have Jonathan's signature sound design printed all over them. Big, booming and full of enraptured percussion. We're treated to a haunting close on 'Lorong K'. Menaced tones rising and falling, small fragments piercing through as to be bits of disintegrating concrete falling off the walls of a lost city.

Lion's Drums Edits: Manos Tsangaris Drum
Cat: CDA 030. Rel: 11 Oct 21
Deep House
  1. Manos Tsangaris - "Drum 1" (Lion's Drums edit) (5:04)
  2. Manos Tsangaris - "Drum 2" (Lion's Drums edit) (5:20)
Review: Cocktail D'Amore know a thing or two about party starting wild cards, and thus far Lion's Drums has proven to be adept in that department with drops on Hivern Discs and his own self-titled label. He comes to the Cocktail party with two edits of Manos Tsangaris' powerful drum sermons - visceral percussive flurries from a man with enough rhythm to partake in the lauded Drums Off Chaos project. You should have a good idea from that what these two tracks are about - heavy, physical tracks for maximum dance induction, moments of pure abandon and the odd firework or two.

La Batterie (140 gram vinyl 2xLP)

  2. Vasilisk - "Awakening" (Lion's Drums edit)
  3. Budi Und Gumbls - "Tanz Der Korperlinge" (Lion's Drums edit)
  4. Freddy Spins - "Journey To Middle Earth" (Lion's Drums edit)
  5. Roberto Musci & Lion's Drums - "Alap On Benares"
  6. Manos Tsangaris & Lion's Drums - "Crying Tafel"
  7. Tullio De Piscopo - "Fastness" (Lion's Drums edit)
  8. Suzanne Ciani - "Paris 1971" (Lion's Drums with Roberto Musci Lost Tapes remix)
Review: Lion's Drums full length exists as en exploration in multiple dimensions. First by challenging the notion of the album format by presenting a body of work that lies snuggly between remixes, edits and original works and secondly as a means to delve into the transcendent potential of the drum. The album sets the tone by putting these two concepts fully on display with its hypnotic chant, swaying one into ease over the first two songs. In orderly cue folding and unfolding, meditatively through, melodies as muddied pastelle whispers cast over the measured language of the drum. Breaking away from the musing themes of the opening songs we find an ecstatic ritual in "Tanz der Korperlinge" and "Journey to Middle Earth", two distinct varieties but both of the same perennial species. Inky ether seeps back in through the second half of the album with a peak of frenzied tumbling toms and incongruous textures hovering above in the Manos Tsangaris' collaboration "Crying Tafel" and his re-imagining of Tullio De Piscopo's unhinged drum excursion "Fastness". The closing exemplifies the edit/remix/original ethos proposed for this work with Lions Drums drawing from tapes and original material of electronic pioneers Suzanne Ciani and Roberto Musci. Drawing from unreleased music and song sketches by the original artists as well as field recordings from travels & studio sessions made by Roberto Musci & Manos Tsangaris in the 80's and early 90's he constructs a side winding journey through playful textures and ethereal moods.

  3. FX Jungle (feat Stephan Bazbaz)
  4. Thursday Gem
Review: After a 5 year hiatus, Tel Aviv based artist Naduve, returns to Cocktail d’Amore Music with Hypogeum. Each of these tracks facilitates its own special part in the life of party. Starting off on a hypnotic and forward driven note Echo Wave Bay leads dancers perfectly into hypnosis with its trance inducing melodies which wave upward and downward. Title track Hypogeum begins to pull on the heart strings with its soft synths floating over pastel textures before giving way to the aptly titled FX Jungle, a deep trip into the low lying canopies of your imagination. Ending where we began Thursday Gem explores the same cyclical themes as Echo Wave but in a subdued fashion making it a perfect choice for winding down any raucous party.

Review: REPRESS ALERT: After two solo releases on Lovefinger's ESP Insitute, and two more 12" as Greenvision (his collaborative project with Trent) Juan Ramos graces Berlin's Cocktail d'Amore Music with a new outstanding EP.A'Incorporeality' and 'Liquid Sky Drone' are both vibrant, hallucinating, trance inducing tracks. Full-on sonic layering and unexpected drum patterns compose these two bangers. Multidimensional is the right term to describe Ramos' music. His futuristic approach, yet full of references from the past, is gaining a strong reputation within the contemporary electronic scene.AMelbourne-Berlin based Kris Baha is on remix duties. 'Liquid Sky Drone' becomes an industrial ballad - cinematic and romantic, at the same time bouncing and synthetic.AArtwork by Boldtron, virtual reality artist based in Barcelona.

Pene D'amore Part 1
Pene D'amore Part 1 (180 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: CDA 019. Rel: 02 Oct 17
Techno
  1. Surdinia
  2. Meccanica
Review: Having previously popped up on ESP Institute, Juan Ramos teams up with Trent to form Greenvision, making their first appearance on the home of freshly squeezed discoid deviance, Cocktail D'Amore. "Surdinia" takes over the A side with a bombastic array of peak time devices in its utility belt, from bubbling acid tweaks to gluttonous monosynth leads and a chunky set of drums. "Meccanica" is no slouch either, laying down thick slabs of synthesized grease in pursuit of a different kind of party track. This is unusual, distinctive club music for those who want the crowd to stop and pay attention.

Cat: CDA 032. Rel: 06 Dec 21
Techno
  1. Phantom
  2. Airbags
  3. Screw Driver
  4. Young Street
Review: With a name like Sleep D one might mistakenly assume that this Australian duo produces mid tempo sounds to drift away on. Greasy Beats and Blobs Vol. 1 proves otherwise. For their inaugrual appearance on Cocktail d’Amore we find a selection of warped and slippery sounds mounted onto a skeleton of body shaking rhythm. Phantom opens the record without hesitation launching into sci fi soundscapes and electro inspired beats. Airbags feels like anything but a safe landing as it shape shifts during its runtime without ever losing its sense of urgency to dance. On the B-side we are offered up two very different pieces of electronic bliss. Screw Drive does exactly as the name implies as the incessant bass line digs deeper into your mind and drives you out into the middle of nowhere as lush pads evolve Into burst of cosmic radiation. Young Street perfectly closes the selection with a meditative embrace filled with micro sounds floating in and out of the stereo field urging you to come back down to earth.

  1. Last Moment Jam (5:40)
  2. Drums Jam (with Grachov) (4:24)
  3. Buchla 909 Jam (9:57)
Review: Cocktail d'Amore Music returns from a short hiatus with a new release from Russian producer TMO. The three tracks are tied together by a propensity for heavy rhythm construction and distorted acid lines, executed to great effect. Opening with "Last Moment Jam" , a searing main room projectile, TMO presents what is heavily inspired by early Chicago acid track. For those looking for something on the trippier end, "Drums Jam" provides a low bpm hallucination full of delays. Closing is, "Buchla 909 Jam", a 10 minute slow burn exercise in analog fundamentals for late night fantasies.
