Your Fandango (4:28)
Your Fandango (instrumental mix) (4:29)
Review: Rock Hall Of Fame nominee Todd Rundgren is an accomplished songwriter and ever-innovative producer. Here he links up with someone just as talented in the shape of Sparks, who is an eclectic and quixotic creative and pillar of the modern musical world. 'Your Fandango' (served up here on a limited coloured vinyl 7") is the third single from Rundgren's forthcoming Space Force album. It's a wall of sound with space rock riffs, gauzy textures and freaky vocals. After this comes the album with guests spots from Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo and Muslim hip hop artist Narcy amongst much more.

Review: Dead or Alive's 1985 classic 'You Spin Me Round' is one of few quintessential charting darkwave cuts from the 80s and this reissue of the single is a celebration of its infectious energy. As many will recall, Pete Burns' flamboyant vocals are set against driving beats and knocky synth riffs, as the song famously compares the effect of a dizzying new liaison to the spin of a 12". The extended mix found here gives listeners even more of what they love about the song, while the EP's timely follow-up songs like 'Even Better Than The Real Thing' provide an enchanting, atmospheric context.

Review: 'Who Killed Marilyn?' is an early track written by Glenn Danzig when he was with the Misfits. Originally recorded in 1979 with the Misfits but due to financial issues with pressing vinyl copies at the time, was then re-recorded again in 1991 and released under Glenn Danzig's name. An important song in the history of the legendary figure, this is the first time this single has been issued on the CD format. Also included is an additional version of each track remixed and remastered by Danzig himself.

Review: On this unique compilation, various artists pay homage to the iconic Irish rock band U2, reimagining their timeless classics and turning them into their own., from the dreamy ethereal sounds of Heaven 17's 'With or Without You' to the pulsating electronica industrialism of Front Line Assembly. The Mission UK's haunting rendition of 'All I Want Is You' evokes a profound sense of longing and despair, while The Electric Hellfire Club's industrial-infused 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' captures the raw energy and political urgency of the original. Rosetta Stone's ethereal 'October' provides a meditative interlude, and Die Krupps' throbbing dance interpretation of 'Numb' adds a sinister edge to U2's dance track. The album culminates with Silverbeam's soaring anthem 'Where The Streets Have No Name' featuring Ann Louise, a fitting tribute to the band's enduring impact on the global music scene. Tribute albums rarely shine as bright as this one does.

Review: The Exploited are one of the most important Scottish punk bands, period. Their hardcore sound started belting out from Edinburgh in 1979 and by the time they released their second album Troops Of Tomorrow three years later they were UK-wide legends. Of all the tracks on the album, 'USA' is one of the sharpest, calling out the superpower in no uncertain times set to a pile-driving hardcore beat. Now Cleopatra are pressing the tune on 7" for the very first time, backed with 'UK82' and 'Hey You', the latter of which was originally a secret track on Troops Of Tomorrow.

Review: It's fascinating diving into the earliest realms of Ministry, before they were even signed to record their debut synth pop album With Sympathy. Al Jorgensen swore off that first release as a misstep before they become chief architects of industrial metal, and this compilation supports his case when you hear the sound of the band at their first gigs in 1981-1983. It's a lot more confrontational than the polished, arguably brilliant, sound they were encouraged to release as they emerged from the underground. From the electro-punk thrust of 'Falling' to the raw version of 'Cold Life', they feel entirely edgier as a proposition compared to most synth-pop bands of the era. With additional gems like rare mixes of 'Everyday (Is Halloween)', this is an essential compilation for anyone interested in the roots of Ministry.

Review: The long-awaited reissue of the debut album from French goth rock outfit, Corpus Delicti, finally arrives to shatter the hopes of Discogs flippers still standing by their 700 quid price-tags. Restoring the original artwork created by the band as well as an insert sporting all of the lyrics; there's never been a more ample opportunity to rediscover a macabre, post-punk classic, teeming with coldwave atmospherics, frosted, jangling guitar work, and ethereal, cavernous production which casts a lysergic despondency over the sonics, at times warring between serene acceptance and jittering, punk-laden despair. It's almost bizarre to process how three decades has done little to dilute the potency of this melting pot project, feeling incredibly of its time while forward thinking in its compositional dynamism.

Spanning a whole host of early material, some of which has never before appeared on physical media, this retrospective compilation harks back to recorded and live work by the "family tree" of bands related to Kilmister and Wallis in the early 1970s, with rare numbers also included. Motorhead completists, perk your ears up!

Review: Paula Perry's 'Tales From Fort Knox' is a stalwart addition to the hip-hop canon, in large part thanks to its cementing the influence of women on the genre. With appearances from fellow heads including her band Masta Ace, Kelly Price and Bahamadia, this (her only album) is a down-to-earth affair - criminally underrated in the genre - regaling street tales from the Fort Greene estate, Brooklyn aka. Perry's 'Fort Knox'. Ultra-minimal, prototypically groovy instrumental beats paint a no-holds-barred yet hopeful picture of Perry's experiences, culminating in a what can only be recognised as a personal, ferocious album.

Review: The truly special thing about a track like 'Tainted Love' is its malleability over time. The original elements touch on New Romanticism, New Wave, electro, and synth pop, creating a twisted and mutated version of the crooning troubadour that smacks of sticky dancefloor heat in subterranean haunts.

With that in mind a remix collection could pretty much go anywhere, and in many ways this one does. Presenting several interpretations of this timeless and iconic tune, these range from the not-so-different instrumental and the strikingly powerful but simple acapella, through to DJ Hell's typically growly stomper, and the groovier, wavier Jack Ford and Jaimieson Hill cut. Oh, and don't forget the very DIY sounding bonus track, 'The Hungry Years', which is a whole different story in its own right, so we'll leave you to discover that one.

Review: Method Man is a bonafide legend of the hip-hop world and with this one he passed down some of his shine by presenting a debut album from Street Life, a then-new prodigy with a thugged out style on the mic. The album has never before been available on vinyl and it packs a real punch with standout singles such as 'Can't Stop, Won't Stop' featuring Method Man, 'Street Education' plus 'A Star Is Born' featuring fellow Wu Tang associate Inspectah Deck. These are raw beats and even more raw bars with next level lyrical skills from an artists who has also appeared on tracks by the iconic Wu Tang Clan, Method Man and more.

Review: Foghat are an English rock band formed in 1971 in London. The band are known for their blues-based hard rock sound and their hit songs 'Slow Ride' and 'Fool for the City' which are both featured here. Slow Ride: Live In Concert gives us undistilled Foghat, recorded and filmed live in Texas in 1999, just before Dave Peverett's death in 2000 at the age of 56. The power and drive of these classic songs come ringing through and are a celebration of Foghat's vision and talent, many years since the band exploded onto the world in 1970. Pressed on orange marbled vinyl., this is a must have for fans of the band considering the time of when the concert date was in the band's history.

Review: Around the mid-nineties, pioneering gothic punks The Damned would see a resurgence in interest thanks to both Guns N Roses covering 'New Rose' for their The Spaghetti Incident? covers LP, as well as The Offspring's rendition of 'Smash It Up' being included on the Batman Forever soundtrack. These simultaneous introductions to a younger audience (whilst possibly also a reminder to forgetful fans), coincided with the band's second reformation, where they boasted the short-lived line up of Dave Vanian and Rat Scabies joined by Kris Dollimore (The Godfathers), Moose (New Model Army), and Alan Lee Shaw (Maniacs). Shadowed Tales From Mulhouse captures this iteration of the band during a 1994 live show in Mulhouse, France, where they would road-test cuts from the following year's Not Of This Earth, including 'Testify', 'Shut It', and the gloomy title-track, while also dusting off plenty of essentials from their back catalogue from 'Neat Neat Neat' to 'Noise Noise Noise' to a cover of their Sex Pistols peers' 'Pretty Vacant'.

Review: Shadowed Tales From Mulhouse captures punk's original rebels in live action in 1994, feeling like a return to their rowdy garage punk origins after spending the latter part of the 80s helping to shape goth rock and then take it overground and into the charts. No sign of 'Eloise' or 'Grimy Fiendish' here though - this all about genre-defining hits like 'Love Song', 'Neat Neat Neat', 'New Rose' and 'Smash It Up', with a heap of perfectly suited and totally unlikely cover versions, from 'Pretty Vacant' to 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling' and 'I Walk The Line'. All on nice coloured vinyl, too, it stands as a testament to The Damned's storytelling prowess, leaving audiences enthralled and craving more from this enigmatic ensemble.

Review: Leather Strip is the nom de plume of Danish artist Claus Larsen, who first rose to prominence in the EBM and industrial boom of the early 90s. Science For The Satanic Citizen was one of his earliest releases, originally out in 1990 and featuring such cheery titles as 'Zyklon B' and 'What's Hell Really Like?' The music isn't as forbidding as the presentation might seem, coming on like the Ministry and Nine Inch Nails sound of the era when the focus was on gothic synth lines and slamming drum machines, but not quite the sheet metal distortion that would become de rigour further into the 90s.

The incomparable Charlie Harper has weathered the group through line-up changes, new visions of punk as well as simply aging; all of which culminates succinctly on their final studio effort and swan song, 'Reverse Engineering'. A victory lap for weathered heroes, which includes supporting Bad Religion on their upcoming UK run, the subs really owed us nothing but in typical fashion, have decided to go out on their jagged terms. A vital final statement from one of the best, long lasting and seasoned veterans to ever do it.

Or, perhaps a simpler question would be, have you ever pondered what it would sound like if some of the most legendary punk acts of all time offered up their own reimaginings of classic Pink Floyd cuts? Well, ponder no more as Punk Floyd does precisely that; drafting a ludicrously impressive roster of iconic groups such as Eater, UK Subs, Skids, Anti-Nowhere League, The Dead Boys and Angry Samoans, to name but a few, to deliver angst-riddled, distorted, anarchic renditions of some of the most quintessential prog tracks from the fathers of the genre.

Well, maybe we can scratch that one off the list now as Punk Floyd does precisely that. Featuring some of the most vital names from the early punk scene such as Anti-Nowhere League, Angry Samoans, Peter & The Test Tube Babies, The Dead Boys and UK Subs, to name but a small handful, ripping through fuzzed out, angular, anarchic reimaginings of some of the most essential cuts from all different eras of the elder gods of prog rock, including 'Comfortably Numb', 'Money' and 'Bike'.

Review: Canadian electro-industrialists FLA really do understand what consistency is. Having put out 12 official studio albums since their inception in 1986, they have remained at the top of their niche game since first landing on the scene, making tracks with this dystopian dancefloor energy, rooted in the cold and unfeeling factories of the future and deceptive humanism of warm synth work.

Nerve War was their now-legendary first mixtape, released the year they got together, and it set the bar so high its any wonder any of what followed managed to live up to these standards. Suffice to say, the fact subsequent stuff did is testament to the band's genius. Presenting everything from strange and unnerving sonic collages ('Thy Glory'), to gritty slo-mo builders ('To The World') and grand sci-fi themes with shades of neo-Gothicism ('Front Line').

Review: 'Neat Neat Neat' might have only been the second single released by The Damned, but its timeless longevity as an essential punk staple has seen it appear in episodes of The Simpsons and The Boys while Edgar Wright would give the track yet another lease on life by using it to score the intense opening chase sequence in 2017's Baby Driver. That's before even mentioning the vastly differing artists it has influenced with everyone from My Chemical Romance to Elvis Costello taking a stab. Pressed to artwork complimenting purple wax, this 7" offers a slice of cuts captured during a set in Mulhouse, France in 1994, with the classic single on the A-side, while the flip boasts a dynamic yet bizarre bevvy of covers, from the likes of iconic pop duo The Righteous Brothers ('You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin') to 60's mods The Craig ('I Must Be Mad') to Johnny Cash's 'I Walk The Line'.

This vibrantly coloured 7" captures a handful of cuts from a 1994 live performance in Mulhouse, France, boasting the aforementioned single on the A-side with a curious selection of covers on the flip, ranging from Johnny Cash's 'I Walk The Line' to 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' from The Righteous Brothers and even a rendition of 60s mod originals The Craig's 'I Must Be Mad' lobbed in for good measure.

Review: Mary Wells was one of the many jewels in the crown of Motown at the peak of its powers back in the 60s. 'My Guy' is one of her biggest-ever hits from 1964 and was written by Smokey Robinson of The Miracles. Lyrically it addresses a woman's rejection of another man's advances in favour of remaining loyal to her boyfriend. The tune reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart but was Well's last for the label aside from a few duets with Marvin Gaye. It remains a classic to this day.

Brown himself is joined on the album by a list of top-draw collaborators including The Stooges' James Williamson, Gong's Steve Hillage, Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice, Hawkwind co-founder Nik Turner and R&B superstar Shuggie Otis. A highly collectible splatter 12" vinyl of this Martin Hannett-produced session groundbreaking gothic/post-punk band, Joy Division. Includes the band's best known composition 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' and a superb non-album B-side in 'Leaders Of Men', plus an extended mix of the A-side. Most music fans and their mothers will have had the former track firmly implanted into their grey matter by now, but it's the B-side that really gets the true-heads going, channelling a massive, cortex-cracking sound that is closer to punk than post. Boy, did Joy Division have a toothy side.

Review: It's hard to untangle this hopelessly sad anthem from the equally tragic death of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis, but if we had to put a bet on it we'd say it would still be hailed as the masterpiece it is now without those unfortunate events. Coming, as it did, after the two albums from the band, it's the perfect half way house between their powerful, guitar-powered sound and the futuristic synthesiser waves that informed New Order not long after. Plus, it's a heartbreakingly brilliant song with lyrics that have spoken to subsequent generations without fail.

It's an easy trap to fall into with Joy Division's most celebrated moment, given the ubiquity of the song, but don't underestimate how special it is to stick on when you need it most. Cleopatra continue their series of seminal songs pressed onto splatter vinyl with this all-time classic, backed up by another non-album essential from Ian Curtis and co, "Leader Of Men'.

Review: Captain Beyond may not be the first name on everyone's lips when it comes to supergroups, but let's break the elements down before rushing to judgment. Rod Evens, formerly of Deep Purple, Bobby Caldwell, once the Johnny Winter drummer, Iron Butterfly axeman Larry Reinhardt, and Lee Dorman - who was the bassist in that band - coming together to make outside the box guitar-fuelled sounds.

OK, so we're definitely talking about the specialist end of supergroups, but still, the moving parts here are nothing short of impressive. Forming in 1971, and releasing three records through to 1977, this album captures their essence and innovative abilities, melding hard rock, progressive, jazz fusion and space rock without coming across as self-indulgent or overblown. Hardly the easiest thing to pull off when you think about it.

Rising to notoriety for wielding a tortured six string with porto-punk deities the New York Dolls, he slashed and burned his way into a solo career, but between 1975 - when said band called time - and 1978, when this guy's first lone work-proper arrived, there was The Heartbreakers.

This re-cut version of Markie's classic ode to unrequited love has been remixed and remastered to sound better than ever. Released in 1989, far before the concept of the "friendzone" had crystallised and become a popular meme, we can hear its nascent stirrings in this subversion of original-era hip-hop, in which Markie crudely and comedically spans disgruntled, dejected raps and twinging croons, all expressive of the pain of rejection.

Review: A Flock of Seagulls may be best known for their hit song 'I Ran (So Far Away)' but the band's influence on synthpop and new wave, outside of that claim to fame, is actually much greater. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1982, features the iconic track as well as other memorable cuts such as 'Space Age Love Song' and 'Wishing', adding extra far-out elements to the formula already cut out by The Cure. The band's distinctive hairstyle, featuring asymmetrical cuts and a gravity-defying swoop, became known as the "Flock of Seagulls haircut," even refernced in the film 'Pulp Fiction'. Cleopatra US's reissue of the album is a reminder of the band's lasting impact on 80s pop culture.

Bat bring a chrome finish to 'Goo Goo Muck' and Blitzkid make 'Garbageman' into a sharply pointed strutter and The Brains pound out a driving version of 'I Can't Hardly Stand It'. Poison Ivy and Lux Interior's influence continues to ring out across the rock spectrum, which this collection proves with ease.

First springboarded by the gothic ska/rocksteady group's song of the same name - with its gloomy meditations on destitution and winters of discontent around the time, manifested in statements like "all the clubs are being closed down" and "too much fighting on the dancefloor" - the ensuing album is similarly political, urgent and doomy. Classics such as 'A Message To You, Rudy' and 'Gangsters' appear once more on this stealth limited edition reissue.

Review: Ahead of their time? Ruined by excess and ego? A difficult act to market? New York Dolls are one of those stories about the fickle nature of industry and listeners, and the risks of hedonism. Emerging from The Big Apple in 1971, the group had a thoroughly modern sound for the time, combining hard and what was then a very fresh glam rock sound with early punk prototypes, years before people would learn what that means. New York Dolls was the spectacular self-titled debut from the band, put out by Mercury in 1973. Although a commercial failure, it's often cited among the greatest rock 'n' roll records of all time, but despite critical success it did little outside the US, where sales weren't great as it was, and the outfit would only last another few years - with various lineup changes - before calling time. This rare release charts what came before all that, including collector's item demos from their time playing as Actress.

Review: The year 1982 can definitely be regarded as a vital one for the working-class Oi-punk movement. One that saw the release of debut full-lengths from the likes of the abrasive Blitz, and the somewhat underappreciated The 4 Skins, who were endlessly plagued by a myriad of line-up shifts. By the time their second full-length, A Fistful of...4-Skins arrived, the group were already onto line-up number four (no pun intended), and this time period is where the 'Five More Years' 7" single rears its skinhead from. Topped with the anthemic opening track from the album, and tailed with the CD reissue bonus cut, 'On The Streets', this sampler/taster/snapshot/teaser/whatever else you'd like to consider it, serves as a perfect piece of oi-punk memorabilia and entry point for those who don't mind doing some of their homework in reverse. These recordings are also notable for being some of the sole studio pieces from The Last Resort vocalist, Roi Pearce, who would serve with the skins for only the one full-length, and subsequent From Chaos To 1984 live album released the following year as swansong.

Review: Here's a classic live album from British punk heroes The Damned, captured in full flight at Woolwich Coronet on July 11 1985. Wrongly credited to a gig at Santa Monica Civic when it was originally released back in 1997, the facts have since been set straight but whatever the case, this is the band at their best. There's all the best bits of their back catalogue and even some choice covers such as the Electric Prunes' ever-classic 'I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night' and Iggy Pop's 'Lust For Life' - and that's just the icing on top of a set brimming with kick ass punk rock.

Carmine Appice & Vinny Appice - "The Mob Rules" (live)
Review: First released almost two decades ago, when it was trailed as a "true metal" tribute, Evil Lives features an impressive array of artists delivering killer covers of songs by the band that arguably started the metal movement, Black Country legends Black Sabbath. Given the quality of bands and solo artists involved, there's plenty to set the pulse racing (and ears ringing), with highlights including a raw, redlined stomp through 'Supernaut' by 100 Homo DJs, Ministry's breathless, riff-powered romp through 'Iron Man', an infectious and predictably anthemic take on metal singalong 'Paranoid' courtesy of Vince Neil and George Lynch, a deliciously psychedelic and relatively slow motion 'Black Sabbath' cover by Iced Earth and a typically atmospheric live recording of 'The Mob Rules' by Carmine and Vinny Appice.

Post Rock/Experimental
Review: Elevenses by Daevid Allen Weird Quartet is a psychedelic masterpiece that transcends traditional genre boundaries with its mesmerizing blend of electric guitars, synthesisers and electronic swirls. Led by the visionary founder of Gong, the quartet delivers a captivating sonic journey that defies categorization, evoking hints of rock, jazz, and krautrock. The album's tracks, though diverse in sound and structure, maintain a cohesive atmosphere, blending classic vibes with modern electronic elements. Allen's genius shines through in the seamless integration of disparate musical elements, from Ginger Baker-esque drums and grooving Hammond organ to Allen's distinct voice. Very much its own unique sonic universe.

Review: Early new wave icons Duran Duran have been digging in their vaults again and this time out they've found Dreaming Of Your Cars: 1979 Demos Part 2, which features vocalist Andy Wickett, who fronted the band before Simon Le Bon took over. The rare tracks start with 'Dreaming Of Your Cars', post punk groove with a slick rhythm section and tight bassline driving it along and getting you in the groove. 'Love Story' features superbly nimble playing and crashing drums that again straighten your back and get you marching before 'X Disco' and 'To The Shore' close out in upbeat then more mournful fashion.
