Reimagine Yourself EP
Cat: BCB 011. Rel: 04 Dec 19
Deep House
  1. Embrace The Contradictions (5:34)
  2. Spiral Movement (6:43)
  3. Something Else (6:18)
  4. April (4:35)
Review: Russian craftsman Alexander Lay Far has released his underground disco joints on Local Talk, Leng and his own In Beat Ween Music in recent times. Now the man resurfaces on Bristol's Boogie Cafe with "Reimagine Yourself EP", and it's a fitting home for these bass heavy and sampled based jams. From the pitched-down junglist stepper of "Spiral Movement", to the dusted down, broken beat emotions of "Something Else" or the bittersweet electro-soul futurism of closing cut "April" - this could be some of the best stuff we've heard from the talented Muscovite yet!

Chordz EP
Chordz EP (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: BC 007. Rel: 12 Sep 16
Disco/Nu-Disco
  1. Newman - "Chordz"
  2. Ourra - "Tropical Taste"
  3. Chini - "Horizons Of Funk"
Review: The Chordz EP brings it with 3 hot new modern Boogie tracks.

Label Hero Newman opens the release with the title track 'Chordz' - a synth-fuelled dancefloor banger, reminiscent of Harvey Sutherland's recent work. Flip it over and Ourra (aka Simon Tappenden aka 'Pop Out N Play') brings us a truly Tropical treat reminiscent of Palm Trees, Pina Coladas and 80's Miami sunsets. Last but not least, Keyboardist for Brian Ellis, Adam Chini plays 'Horizons of Funk'... a lush down tempo synth funk number bringing the EP to the perfect close.

Tribute to Ron Hardy EP
Cat: BCS 007. Rel: 28 Feb 18
Disco/Nu-Disco
  1. Your Love (6:04)
  2. All Night Long (7:34)
  3. Do The Dance (Tribute To Ron Hardy) (8:57)
Review: Some tasty disco edits that were renowned for rocking the legendary Music Box when the iconic Ron Hardy was at the controls. Respliced here by Let's Play House main man Jacques Renault for Boogie Cafe - a joint venture from Bristol by DJs and producers Jimmy The Twin and Alex. Starting off on the A side with the lo-slung business of "Your Love" - a respectful edit of an underground goodie for those that know. On the flip is the nine minute epic "Do The Dance" (Tribute To Ron Hardy) a resplice of a certain hit from 1979 - possibly by Patrick Adams and Greg Carmichael.

Bologna On The Move EP
Cat: BCB 012. Rel: 03 Jun 20
Deep House
  1. Sam Ruffillo - "U Make Me Sing" (5:57)
  2. D'Arabia - "Straight Outta Fire" (5:50)
  3. Brine vs Sam Ruffillo - "Request Line" (5:20)
  4. Brine - "Star Chaser" (4:18)
Review: We've heard plenty about the underground electronic music scenes in Napoli, Milan and Rome, but not so much about the new wave of deep house and broken beat producers currently emerging from Bologna. This EP from Bristol's Boogie Cafe Records tries to put the record straight by bringing together a quartet of cuts from some of the city's fast-rising producers. Check first the insanely funky, broken house brilliance of Sam Ruffilo's blues-sampling "U Make Me Sing", before bathing in the jazzy solos, drowsy male vocals and jazz-funk-flecked cheekiness of D'Arabia's "Straight Outta Fire". Brine takes over on the flip, first joining forces with Ruffilo on the revivalist '90s NJ garage flex of "Request Line", before going solo on the ultra-deep, woozy and sun-kissed deep house warmth of "Star Chaser".
