Review: Appleblim teams up with the Middle Eastern label Boogie Box once more for some hybridized explorations on the cutting edge of soundsystem music. "Vurstep" is a wildly psychedelic banger that keeps the rhythms broken while the sound design levels tap into the same delirious vein as his ALSO work with Second Storey. "Dream Wisdom" takes things in a smoother direction, riding on laid back breaks and plush threads of melody in a vintage ambient techno style. Shed steps up to remix "Vurstep" and delivers one of his pointed masterclasses in stripped, UK-leaning techno, and then Forest Drive West trips the whole thing out with a heavily dubbed meditation.

Review: Caldera has been previously spotted on WNCL Recordings amongst other establishments, so you know he comes with a certain stamp of quality for rough and tumble hi-jinx in the more interesting corners of proper party music. He lands on the blossoming Boogie Box label with a diverse package that leads in with the percussive trysts of "Akman's Rhythm" and then swerves into the fractured minimal dub exercise "Old Hands". "Anaconda Legs" is a twitchy, atmospheric slow strutting house cut that sits right with the offbeat minimal crowd but actually sports a rich and expressive sound and FX palette. "A Moment To Breathe" blows up the dub touches across the EP and goes into full head-nodding meditation mode, and it's fantastic.

Review: Boogie Box launched in style last year with a release from the mighty STL, and now they're revisiting that strong first step with a clutch of smartly selected remixes from some deep cover operators. Juniper drops two dubs of "Haze & Kraze" that press squashed synth pressure, found sounds and splattering FX into tight but funky grooves with a distinctly nocturnal feel. Fold's dub of "Hide & Seek" spaces things out beautifully, taking a crooked, steppers approach that works wonderfully with the source material. Jonas Friedlich's own dub of "Hide & Seek" takes a dustier path through the undergrowth, completing a package of truly non-conformist techno that chimes with STL's own outsider spirit.

Review: German house enigma, STL, usually sticks to his own Something imprint when venturing out of his studio. In fact, he's only really collaborated with relatively high profile labels like Perlon and Smallville Records in the past, so seeing him launch the new Boogie Box imprint is quite the treat. He's in an eerie, pensive mood for the opening "Hide & Seek", blasting out his signature percussive roll, while "Haze & Kraze" places a heavier stomp onto the groove, and delivers a classic, hazed-out STL bomb for the darker, deeper ends of the set...
