Let Me See (Dexter remix) (hand-stamped yellow vinyl 12")
Cat: ACLBL 009. Rel: 13 Aug 13
Bass
  1. Let Me See (Dexter remix)
  2. Model (Femme En Fourrure remix)
Review: The Audio Culture label out of Holland have called upon Dexter and Femme En Fourrure to remix goldFFinch's Model EP from last year. Both acts have chosen a track each, with Dexter opting to remake "Let Me See", in which he crafts a woofy bassline that constantly threatens to spill over the track's grimy edge. Vocals are given a spooky phase effect, while the synths sound like resonating Tibetan singing bowls. Deeper moves into dubstep, rave and techno are made in Femme En Fourrure's remix of "Model", which sees a vocal sample twisted and torn in amongst a sparse and dubby ambience.

Attention Seeker (limited 1-sided 180 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: ACLBL 004. Rel: 14 Aug 12
Bass
  1. Attention Seeker
Review: Following sturdy releases with the likes of Presk and Tessela, Audio Culture make a more decisive move into the realms of house music with this bumpy jam from Iron Galaxy; a production moniker with little to no reference points. Released as a self-assured single-sided 12", "Attention Seeker" hits upon a hooky lead synth that bounces and warps around the garage shuffle of the beat while an aqueous pad cools off those heated elements for a fully balanced listening experience. It's functional where it counts, but the heart and soul of the track ensures it'll strike deeper than a one-dimensional rhythm track.

Cat: ACLBL 008. Rel: 16 Apr 13
Bass
  1. Peier Field
  2. Angiogram
  3. Contact
Review: Lrusse & Bleecker sound as if they're as Dutch as Audio Culture itself. Turns out they're actually from Bristol, and this is their debut EP. Fusing lo-fi fuzzy house with generous dollops of bass and an almost Detroit sensibility, there's more than a touch of the Weatheralls throughout the release. Core moments include the off-kilter funk of the bass whinges on "Peier Field", the wafting jazz horns of "Angiogram" and the sludgy sci-fi groove on "Contact". An accomplished debut.

Stitches (pink vinyl 12")
Cat: ACLBL 007. Rel: 05 Mar 13
Techno
  1. Stitches
  2. Pressure Waves
  3. Do The Vortex
Review: Dutch imprint Audio Culture return with the debut from Severn Beach, a new techno-leaning moniker from rising UK house producer James Fox. Title track "Stitches" fits in nicely with the rest of the label's catalogue, as a steamroller groove cuts through icy dub chords and contemporary bass influences are brought to the fore with its booming sub-bass and light vocal snippets. Fox's more melodic house influences show themselves more obviously on the other two tracks; "Pressure Waves" is a more stripped back affair, taking the same thick, swung, bottom heavy rhythms and putting them alongside some drifting ambient pads, while "Do The Vortex" marries the same cast iron beats with hypnotic tones that ooze delicacy, creating the kind of contemporary techno that will be of significant interest to those feeling Hotflush's recent wares.
