Review: When it came to recording I Have What I Gave, his first full-length since 2014, Bottin decided to do things differently. Opting for a "stream of consciousness" approach, he recorded the ten tracks spontaneously, often working on several tracks at one time. As a result, there's a frisson of excitement throughout, with the majority of the material offering instant gratification. Musically, it offers his usual synth-heavy blend of Italo-disco, house and '80s pop influences, expanded by subtle nods towards "digital disco" (a micro-house variant promoted by Force Tracks in the mid 1990s), Italian dream house and the warehouse-friendly throb of Kevin Saunderson's Inner City project. Amongst the highlights is "Stellar Parade", a lilting and melodious Italo-disco workout written in collaboration with Alexander Robotnick.

Review: Both Felix Dickinson and Jaime Read have been pumping out house music on their cassettes since the early days of the genre, and the two have been involved in the scene in some way or another for longer than most of our readers have been alive. Whether through Djing or producing, these guys know the score, and this latest collaboration on Two Mikes Records is a perfect example of just how house-focussed these guys are. The original cut to "Warehouse Days", which resides on the B side, is a stripped-back dance floor shaker with enough percussion rattle to satisfy an army of ravers, and the tune subtly verges onto techno structures thanks to its background bleeps and eerie kind of feel. There is a Neville Watson remix on the flip, and the UK house don adds a further injection of hypnotics to the equation plus a dab more of the Chicago pump on the low-end.

Review: Overseen by Mike Simonetti and his Captured Tracks namesake Sniper, 2MR has been pleasantly unpredictable to date with the Fader-friendly electronic pop of Russian artist Kedr Livanksiy complemented by an album from Bushwick art-techno troupe Dust. The latest 2MR addition is Stefan Ringer, the Atlanta DJ and producer whose recent double drop on PPU as REKchampa remains a highlight of 2016 so far for the Juno review crew. This 4-track 12" sees Ringer showcasing his diversity as a producer, offing up a pair of straight up bangers in the shape of "Can't Stop" and "Bounce #3" (wait for the Kyle Hall style organs to drop on the latter) which are complemented by the heady deepness of "Feeling It" and "The Come Down".

Review: 2MR main man Mike Simonetti is back featuring Santana from CLAAP's seductive French vocals on "Release Your Body To The Best", a dark and jacking stomper with some proper 303 grit that's quite fierce. On the flip "Slave (Dedicated To Maurice Joshua)" is a dirty and rusty acid journey through the afterhours NYC nightlife featuring more hypnotising, come hither vocal work. The CLAAP remix meanwhile is more stripped and bass driven with African style chants in the background; worth getting for this remix alone: it's absolutely killer!
