Review: Incapacitants are credited as among the lesser-sung progenitors of noise music, emerging first in 1981 in Japan. Inspired by the possibilities they saw in the advocacy by electronic music pioneer Luigi Russolo of "including industrial and mechanical sounds in music", the logical extension of this idea was a new synthesis by the band: the idea of "pure noise". Pure noise, as emphasised by their endeavours to evoke it on their fourth album Repo and others like it, was part of this attempt: to make music that was completely unfettered from musical ideas, human biases and human intention. Know: Incapacitations hold Repo to be the sound of pure alienation, pure chaos; unfiltered perception.
