Review: Lover of all things juke, Chicago's Chrissy Murderbot has plenty to say on the subject and he makes his feelings well known on this latest joint for Halocyan records. "Bionic Penguins" kicks things off with a plush and melodic juke chop up that moves through sophisticated chord progressions for the arpgeggiator to roam around in, while "Friendship" goes down a slightly darker route peppered with hefty amounts of bleep. Sumsun turns "Bionic Penguins" into an emotionally strained UK Funky joint, leaving it to Legowelt to create a serene funk of robotic melodics with lashings of acid and some serious Balearic sass.

Review: Two sub-soaked gems from Coleco on Runtime, two more reasons why you should be keeping a firm focus on the Bristol artist in the future. "Focus 10" takes elements of trap and garnishes them rich juicy bass and haunted eastern cries. "Ambivalence", meanwhile, operates on a superbly spaced out groove where weaves of cosmic texture and star-gazing FX build with mesmerising effect. Remix-wise Adam Elemental does a funky stop/start stutter jam on "Ambivalence" while Om Unit continues his rich vein of form by subverting "Focus 10" into a slower, more menacing groove. Stay focussed.

Review: Though he's been making and releasing music of various styles for roughly five years, it feels like Florence-born Digi G'Alessio has really found his creative voice since he starting working under the name Clap! Clap! Having established the project last year with the Gwidingwi Dema digi release for Origami Sounds, G'Alessio has since gravitated to the like minded Black Acre with the Bristol label issuing two Clap! Clap! singles. If you're not familiar with the Clap! Clap! sound, it deftly fuses traditional elements of African music with a rhythmic freneticism that is influenced by everything from house and hip hop to footwork and dubstep. Apply this to the album format as G'Alessio does with Tayi Bebba and you have some interesting listening, especially as each of the 17 tracks is presented as a tour of an imagined island, with "each song representing a location, event or ritual."
