Cat: RLE 1. Rel: 19 Apr 23
Freddie's Room (6:28)
Danza Del Piano (5:58)
Seiko 1978 (5:17)
Luca Y Camilo (6:00)
Review: Scandi disco don Rune Lindbaek can do it all from dazzling originals to smart edits, and it is the latter which he tackles here on the first release on his own new RLE label, which presumably stands from Rune Lindbaek Edits. The cut and paste master kicks off with the plodding cosmic funk of 'Freddie's Room' before getting more steamy and tropical on 'Danza Del Piano'. 'Seiko 1978' deals in lush 80s synth sounds and raining arps over chilly drums with talk box vocals adding more retro charm. 'Luca Y Camilo' is a steamy, super slow and rather sentimental closer.

Diet 505 (5:48)
QMD (6:17)
El Ritmo (6:07)
The Right Moment (6:30)
Review: Set the time machine back to the 90s with this new 12" from System 108 out of Holland. It's a collaboration between Lipless and TMP that kicks off with the jacked up old school drums and sirens of 'Diet 505' before 'QMD' sinks down into a deep and moody tech roller with a serene and futuristic feel. 'El Ritmo' is a wild one with manic synth sequences sounding like a computer in meltdown over crispy, prickly tech house drums and finally, 'The Right Moment' layers up warped pads and mad whites into another vibrant and full flavour cut for the peak time. Lovely artwork on this one too.

Prisoners  (4:19)

The Neutral Zone (4:28)
Review: Lloyd Stellar was not really a man gifted an extraordinary name when he was born. Rather, it is the chosen alias for Dutch dude Erik Griffoen, but he's surely made the name his own with a rapid rise in the number of releases of his music so far this year. Now Stellar gets has mitts on 20/20 Vision alongside The Droid, aka Ben Evans. In line with the label's exploration of electro over the past few years, this is hi-tech machine funk through and through, with twitchy synth lines and brittle, crisp drum machine patterns programmed within an inch of their lives. Maintaining a steely, dystopian mood throughout, this is serious electro for the heads, executed with precision and flair.

909 The Controller (4:12)
355 Loop B (1:00)
Review: LNS and DJ Sotofett explore a new direction on their latest EP, 'The Reformer,' released on Tresor Records. Moving away from their debut album, the duo fuses digital artifacts, scanner sounds, and vocoder voices with melodic colors that radiate across cold electro landscapes. The opening track, 'Reform,' takes a deep dive into the electro sound, while 'Plexistorm' blends synthesised strings with arpeggiated acidic bleeps. 'Electric Terraforming' uncovers charged energy sources for life on another planet, and '909 The Controller' features washes of dub over a skipping beat, with a slow, rippling melody and percolating synths. The vinyl version includes exclusive locked grooves by DJ Sotofett.

Not Brain Damage (7:21)
Mad Not Sad (6:14)
Like (6:29)
The Sound Of The South (6:30)
Review: Partout are one of the fiercer electro-techno labels operating out of Paris these days and they're keeping the pressure up with this deadly new drop from Log_In. There's not much background information to go on about the brains behind the beats, but the production speaks for itself just fine. 'Not Brain Damage' has a raw Chicago flavour until the space age synths come piling in on top for a cosmic jacker of epic proportions. 'Mad Not Sad' is a full-throttle big room beast with synth sounds to match, and 'Like' burrows down into headstrong acid tweaking and tough-as-you-like drums. That leaves 'The Sound Of The South' to mop up with its own hard-edged stomp and snappy 303 lines.

Heat Check (6:53)
Logi Tech (club mix) (7:38)
Rocket Science (7:21)
Logi Tech (Beach mix) (7:30)
Review: Logidy is a Berlin-based artist commonly found rolling with the O Mato crew, and he follows up on impressive releases for Home Again and Mellow Rec with this ear-snagging drop for Dutch label Unsilenced. There's a hint of the cheeky synth flair you might expect from Eya and other such labels orbiting the minimal scene, with 'Heat Check' in particular having a whale of a time with catchy lead lines. 'Logi Tech (Club Mix)' is an equally crafty affair, albeit striking a seedier tone in its melodic make up. 'Rocket Science' has a warmer, soul-spirited energy and plenty of musical chops in its arrangement, while the 'Beach Mix' of 'Logi Tech' heads towards fittingly sunnier climes without losing that instinct for ear-catching nooks and crannies in the production.

Gloom Rider (6:42)
Review: LOIF does a fine job of exploring a wide range of genres on this new EP for fast-rising Aussie label Animalia. Elements of techno, electro, bass, breaks and psychedelia are all melted together in the murky underwater world of this Melbourne producer. His tunes are a stylish mix of grooves that make you move and sonic details that intrigue as they drift by - they have the quality of alien life forms or bacteria that glow and scuttle about. Sometimes a weird vocals sample bleeds into ear short, at others it's purely abstract techno rhythms. Either way, this is fresh.

Vicky’s Out 4 Blud (feat Nicolas Cage) (6:23)
The TS Chronicles (5:36)
Review: Lapse Records welcomes Los Primos here as they debut their excellent new EP Under-Stompin'. This fresh project is the brainchild of Toronto's Cosmic JD and Aaron Santos, both affiliated with the Hypnotic Mindscapes label and party collective. They showcase their singular take on tight, twitchy cosmic tech house across a quartet of its that start with the snappy snare work of 'What We're On' before 'Primitive Holiday' (feat Masayuki Tomita) is more raw and coarse with sharp hits and spraying basslines. 'Vicky's Out 4 Blud' (feat Nicolas Cage) takes things into a more cosmic direction and the 'The TS Chronicles' is a warped afters banger.

Cosmic Tides (5:28)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging Day (5:05)
Review: Low Tape is an artist slowly moving up through the ranks thanks to his fresh sounds, which mix up techno, acid and electro. He takes care of the sixth EP from his homeland's Analog Concept label and does another fine job. 'Lost Heaven' opens up with the sort of celestial synth designs that get your head amongst the stars. Detroit ace John Beltran then comes through with a remix full of his textbook synth designs and symphonic techno grooves. 'Cosmic Tides' from Low Tape then sinks into a nice rich, rubbery and undulating techno exploration that has galaxies flying by as you cruise through space. 'Magnetic Resonance Imagine Day' closes with more meaningful synth lines over sleek drums.

Mosaique Lights (5:39)
A Chemical Love Story (4:33)
Review: Stackenshneider's fifth deep and feel-good transmission is from Low Tape who impresses throughout. 'Deep Dive' is all about the busy bassline that worms its way through beneath some twinkling synth stars. 'Electro Doesn't Love You' is a mix of snappy broken beats, rippling arps and nice molten acid lines while there is a more nostalgic and rueful feel to the deeper acid electro of 'I Don't Know Where My Home Is Anymore.' With three more varied and vital electro sounds on the flip, this is one of the best EPs we've heard this year.

Top Of The Pyramid (7:28)
Not Unique (4:43)
7 Days A Week (6:16)
Review: Luke Eargoggle joins forces with Dataintrang here for a seasonally appropriate ice-cold electro outing on Return to Disorder. It kick off with side-long opener 'Top Of The Pyramid' which is full of sidewinding synths and squealing analogue lines over corrugated bass. After that one comes the manic and high tempo electro-shocks of 'Not Unique' with snappy snares and darkened vocals. Last but not least is the most brutal assault of them all - '7 Days A Week', a melange of wild acid lines and liquid metal leads with turbulent bass and a general sense of intergalactic warfare.

Track 4 (6:05)
Review: You can never stop good music from making it out into the world and so it is that new label Secret Keeper from Ukraine makes its bow here despite what is going on back home. Luschn steps up for the first EP and sets a high standard with it from the off. 'Track 1' is tech with a menacing undercurrent and an undulating rhythm while 'Track 2' gets a little more loose in its loops. The mood switches on the b-side, where disco-tech comes to the fore and some deft melodies bring a cosmic feel to 'Track 3'. Last of all, 'Track 4' is nice and dry, stripped back and whacked out tech from another planet.

Forming Lines (6:31)
Choreography (9:06)
It's Right There In Front Of You (7:03)
No Floor (2:54)
Review: The ever-popular and always innovative Dark Entries welcomes Lust Pattern for more deviant electro explorations here and i isn't the first time the artists has graced the label in such fashion: Ryan Armbridge has previously done so as Linea Aspera many times before, exploring coldwave revivalist sounds alongside Zoe Zanias. With this alias, though, he looks to post-punk and electro-funk for inspiration. Opener 'Forming Lines' is redolent of Drexciyan squelch with plenty of live drumming powering it on. 'Choreography' has a similarly aquatic feel but with faster drums and more urgent funk and 'It's Right There In Front Of You' then slows to a predatory and menacing crawl. 'No Floor' is a motorik workout with the squelchiest of mutant synth sounds and rickety rhythms.

Wrong Target (8:23)
Off Screen (5:48)
Review: Luxus Varta really shows his class on this sublime new EP, Retrofiction, for Hilltown Disco. It is richly layered with sound and emotion and plenty of intelligent synth designs from the off. The A-side brings plenty of magical melodic work with 'Total Ghosting' ring a jittery beat with silky arps and textured bass, while 'Modulation Source' has that classic eerie electro vibe and cyborg funk in its bones. 'Full Duplex' is a truly slamming cut then 'Wrong Target' ducks and dives on snappy drum kicks and taught, twanging bass. The final bit of chaos is 'Off Screen' with its twitchy stabs and punchy low ends.

Review: Studio maestro Luz1e makes a big debut here on Mechatronica with a fresh EP that blends various different styles into something unique. It's a collision of delicate electro and dystopian machine funk, that is all evocatively detailed with the haunting vocals of DALO and futuristic atmospheres. After a scene-setting intro comes the blistering workout that is 'Escapism' and a further electro-tech banger in 'Sonic Impact" (feat DALO)'. Review: Glasgow's Full Dose delivers its first injection of the year with Lvcchesi offering up a fascinating EP. Opener 'Vsna' is all about scratchy ambient textures, implied rhythms and bleak atmospheres, much like the work of early Actress. 'Vespucci' then lays down more of a club groove, with hissing and spitting electro beats and more great synth craft before 'Ominino' is a mix of caustic textures, frosted synths and explosive loops that is as eerie as they come. Last of all is an S&H Late Nite Hot mix that is just as unsettling, with whirring machine sound and a soulful feminine voice lost amongst the busted sounds.

Review: Electro monarchs Maelstrom, Locked Club and RLGN return to EP-making with a four-track array of acid bangers, happily working together on a split record to celebrate the pan-European electro scene. Their offering is unequal in quantity (2 Maelstrom and 3 Locked Club tunes) but is resolutely equal in heat; 'LA Nuit Est A Toi' is Maelstrom's standout, bleepy and suffocating in its generative, janky fright. Locked Club and RLGN follow up, 'Kill Me' being the best and most suicidally pushy techno track to soundtrack our nightmares.

Review: The cultured Movida label rolls out more of its tasteful tech and minimal jams with the Water Drop EP Part 1. Somfay opens up proceedings with 'Arborvitae' (A Voice Like Water) which is a zoned out roller with chords that encourage you to gaze off to the future. The b-side starts with Luc Ringeisen & Funk E's 'Treinta Y Siempre', a tender electronic lullaby with gently broken beats and then things get much more scuffed up and dubby with Polyfan Polyphenix's 'Polymorph 2' which is a languid rhythm that makes you want to move nice and loose.

Review: Cititrax's first Tracks 12" sampler did a good job in showcasing material from some of the Brooklyn-based label's favourite contemporary producers. This follow-up, arriving only a few short months after the first, aims to do the same. Returning for his second appearance, Tsuzing kicks things off with the razor-sharp shuffle of "Nonlinear War", whose intoxicating electronics and wild synth lines recall Brown Album-era Orbital, before London-based L/F/D/M takes a trip into bleak techno territory with the acid-laden "Mouth Holes". Drawing on house, disco, garage and broken beat it is a rich affair with a strong UK vibe. There is elegance and symphony to opener 'Xyleac' that immediately gets your head amongst the stars. 'Diluspth' keeps up the majestic synth while 'Bbyncole' is double-speed techno with balmy celestial synths and hurried bass that locks you in. Tender ambient pieces like 'Shores Of Eternal Life' reset the mood and then the second half is a series of shorter sketches packed with electronic soul.

Review: Linkwood can do no wrong if you ask us. Whatever music he puts out - be it his collabs with jazz great Greg Foat, his melodic deep house abstracts or this new electro tinged collection, it is gold. He recorded this one with some Moog and Oberheim gear in the Athens of the North studio and casts his net far and wide - there is crisp bit lo-fi, starry eyed electro like 'Shortwave' next to more 80s tinged pop-like nuggets "Rain & Shine' and cosmic explorations such as 'Date-Line'. It is the sound of a producer who can create at will, unbound by rules, but defined by excellence.

Review: Lowfish originally released his 'Burn The Lights Out' LP in 2007 on the US label Satamile but we have found some copies of it in the warehouse. Synth-pop meets breakbeats in an electrifying fusion of emotive melodies and bass-heavy beats across all four sides of the long player with ten then-new tracks and two classics from his Sat.31 EP. They all show that his music, complex yet accessible, evokes images of Blade Runner, Wave Noir, or William Gibson. It is post-modern in approach as it skilfully blends past and present styles to create a sound uniquely his own, seamlessly bridging the gap between eras while pushing the boundaries in his own way.
