Goodbye (5:57)
In The Dark (5:36)
Review: It was only a matter of time before Andrew Ferguson made his debut on 2 Bad Mice's Over/Shadow; his tenure in the game, his authenticity, his lack of compromise and his timelessness as an artist (both as Outrage and his more 140-oriented alias Nomine) is a perfect fit. Here are two examples; 'Goodbye' says hello with oceanic waves of disarming pads, bellowing subs and spacious breaks while 'In The Dark' brings a little more 1990 unity vibes thanks to the sensual vocal and subtle piano charm. Outrageously good.

Sweet Memories (5:39)
Peace Of Mind (6:04)
Cloud Nine (5:14)
Review: Eusebeia and Artificial Red: Two artists together across three tracks on one beautiful 12" Samurai off-shoot label Mind Games are spoiling us silly right here. The magic is evident the moment those luxury drums swoop and dip on 'Sweet Memories'. More jazz than jungle, there's a cosmic urgency laced throughout that sets the tone for the whole EP. Elsewhere 'Peace Of Mind' goes full GLM with its dreamy pads and soft subs before 'Cloud Nine' finishes with a tender ravey hug. Music for the Mind Games, soul games and indeed body games.

Sith (VIP) (5:51)
Lost Science (6:21)
Review: 26 years ago Blame embraced the dark forces of the Sith (a good five years before the Revenge movie) - and it finally got a release in 2021. Now comes the VIP. Even more score-like and dramatic with its energy and intention, this will have you unleashing force destruction before you can even whip out your sabre. 'Lost Science' is another unreleased gem from the same late 90s era. Big jazzy drums, caverns of space and a sense of cosmic jazz that's hard to find in contemporary breakbeat music. The dark force is strong on this one.

Forschung & Entwicklung III
Forschung & Entwicklung III (grey marbled vinyl 12")
Cat: NULLPUNKT 0000024. Rel: 12 Mar 24
Amen Track (Atonal 2016 version) (5:26)
Conclusion (Atonal 2016 version) (4:36)
Six Days (Atonal 2016 version) (6:05)
Outro (Atonal 2016 version) (2:08)
Research (Rural 2016 version) (4:18)
Review: The Nullpunkt label is fast approaching its 25th release but first comes this fearsome outing from F&E. The third installment in the Forschung & Entwicklung series comes on grey vinyl and does not mess about with five more cuts all served up as Antal or Rural versions from 2016. The first rides on rusty jungle breaks, the second, 'Conclusion', is an atmospheric piece with a minimal rhythm and warped synth daubs while 'Six Days' is a dark and heavy piece of ambient techno dystopia. 'Outro' is the lightest and brightest piece of synth work on the EP then 'Research' brings back the jungle techno with more serrated synths and loopy, jagged rhythms.

The Special
Cat: SDWN 002. Rel: 13 Mar 24
The Special (4:08)
Twos On A Pack Of Ten (4:35)
Review: Oh gosh! Since Ulterior Motive disbanded, Settle Down has gone from ravey strength to ravey strength. Lowering the tempo just a smidgeon, he's found himself painting from a vibrant palette that isn't governed by the tight rules of drum & bass, aligning himself more with the Biceps and Special Requests of the world and the sounds really shine as a result. Both of these have been on dub for some time, 'The Special' nods sweetly at Sade before burying its head in the biggest bass scoop it can find while the brilliantly titled 'Twos On A Pack Of 10' dives into dreamier breakbeat pastures - before breaking into a serious venomous bassline. Get down!

The Humanism EP
The Humanism EP (hand-stamped 12" limited to 200 copies)
Cat: SFR 024. Rel: 25 Mar 24
Deep Mind (6:52)
Delta (5:30)
Over The Wall (4:28)
Humanism (4:39)
Review: London classicalists Silent Force continue to champion timeless freshness with this beautiful four tracker from New Zealand-based breakbeat doyen DJ Koncept. Often known for his turntablism and more hip-hop inclined manoeuvres, here Koncept goes for that classic GLM style sound with a touch of early Creative Source in the mix. Highlights include the lush linger pianos and familiar breathy sample on 'Over The Wall' and the infinite starry sky feels of the EP open 'Deep Mind'. Unhurried, classy and well produced. This EP was born for vinyl.

Give You Up (4:58)
Fade (feat Bazil MC & Sydney Bryce) (4:53)
Home (5:17)
World Of Ours (feat MC Sense) (5:58)
Review: Contemporary deepsmith king LSB maps out another late night adventure on 'Home', a four track EP featuring the likes of Sense MC, Sydney Bryce and Bazil MC. As you'd expect from the Footnotes bossman, the vibe is subtle, laid back and jazz to the very core. From the breathy hooky and smoky keys of the opener 'Give You Up' to the hopeful swirls and twirls of the Sense-front 'World Of Ours', LSB rolls out nothing but gems. Home is where the vibes are.
