FTP 002 (12")
Cat: FTP 002. Rel: 16 Oct 17
  1. DJ DR-660 - "Phonky No 69" (4:30)
  2. Thinh - "Yellow Balm" (5:41)
  3. Shadow Moses - "Phreeks" (3:52)
  4. CDN - "Bonus Beat" (3:23)
Review: New Berlin beat-fusers FreiTanzPlatten levels up with another four-track fresh-talent package. Melting down the spirit of jungle, ghetto-tech and footwork with a strong dollop of b-boy, the whole package could just as well sit in a techno set as it could a drum & bass set. Leipzig's DJ DR-660 sparks up with a pace Godfather vibe, all Detroit and no graces. Thinh's "Yellow Balm" rolls with more of a jazzy rolling jungle haze while Shadow Moses's "Phreeks" goes turbo electro. Finally CDN wraps up with a fizzy, low-swung acid jam that wriggles with wily abandon. FTP smash it again.

Overdose (12")
Cat: HAV 002. Rel: 16 Oct 17
  1. Dub One & Blatant - "Overdose" (6:28)
  2. Champa B - "The Cloak" (5:51)
  3. Drum Cypha - "See Through" (5:17)
Review: Cypha and Champa unleash the second Holotype vinyl special and it's a balls-to-the-wall situation. First up comes longstanding south coast junglist Dub One with newcomer Blatant and they're packing a detuned synth riff that could melt concrete 1992 style. Champa B follows with "The Cloak", a dark, warped-out roller with some really interesting processing and textures on drums and a mentasm that comes out of nowhere and seeps into your brain indelibly. Finally Drum Cyphya provides a dramatic finale piece with more hardcore synth tones, incredible drum energy and an arresting vocal that can, and will, see right through you down to the darkest corners of your soul. Gulliness.

Alone With Everybody EP
 in stock 602 RUB
Cat: NQ 004. Rel: 16 Oct 17
  1. Always Something (feat Fox) (5:19)
  2. Ice Cream (5:41)
  3. This Is Now (5:17)
  4. Baby Blue (feat Lenzman) (4:57)
Review: Lenzman's North Quarter hits its stride once again with another superb collection from one of the scene's most tireless, unsung heroes. This time it's FD who takes the reigns with four outstanding pieces of soul: "Always Something" features one of the best MCs in the game - Fox. Flowing between his sweet bars and deep singing style, it's one of Fox's most delicately laid down tracks to date (which is saying something) Elsewhere "Ice Cream" hits on the up-notes with a loose drum energy, fresh energy and another scorching vocal, "This Is Now" is a much slinkier, bass-licked dancefloor swinger while "Baby Blue" blasts us off into the ether with dreamy vocal textures and warm-but-warped synths. Stunning and timeless.

Even Your Anger Is Lovely
 in stock 696 RUB
  1. Gremlinz & Jesta - "Even Your Anger Is Lovely" (5:13)
  2. Drum Cypha - "Dimension X" (5:39)
  3. Champa B - "Catacombs" (6:29)
Review: More full throttle Holotype jungle heaviness: label bossmen Drum Cypha and Champa B invite Gremlinz and Jesta B over for a breakbeat ruckus. Previously spotted collaborating on Paradox's label Paradox Music, Gremlinz and Jesta dig deep into the breaks with some deadly edits and depth plunges that stop you dead in your tracks. Flip for Cypha's white knuckle homage to hardcore with its brutal insistent riff and drop into oceanic synths that could paralyse the iciest of souls. Finally Champa B gets his step on with the coldest cut of the bunch. Coming on strong like a 1996 Headz joint, tension levels couldn't physically get any higher.

Shapeshifter EP (limited 12")
Cat: APHA 015. Rel: 16 Oct 17
  1. Shapeshifter (4:16)
  2. Ferro (5:25)
  3. Your Love Is A Power (feat Dandans K) (6:32)
  4. Turbo (4:26)
Review: Fresh from appearing on Astrophonica's Gradients collection, Lowriding Lewis James makes his full EP debut with "Shapeshifter". The title track sets the scene with measured chill charm before "Ferro" ups the ante with a blissful pitched-up vocal and dramatic high-tension drum groove and acidic bass plunges while "Your Love Is A Power" explores more of a jungle structure with a mystic loop and a scorching vocal from Dan Dans K. Finally we hurtle back, nose-first, into this stinking planet with the gnarled-out hard-stepper "Turbo". The name gives you all the clues you need. Lewis is bang on the money right here.

Dogheart EP (hand-stamped 12")
Cat: 7TH 12017. Rel: 16 Oct 17
  1. Track 1 (6:07)
  2. Track 2 (5:09)
  3. Track 3 (4:51)
Review: Got any soundclashes coming up? If the answer is no, you best organise some because these are prime clash bashers: guaranteed to slew the opposition with 1994 authenticity and 2017 clarity. All untitled and heavily laced with some of the classic vocals and samples of the time, "Track 1" is the badman homage, "Track 2" dips into funky light-footed skank while "Track 3" rolls out on more of a loopy ragga-fronted vibe before switching into some iconic vocals. You can't so no to this.

  10. Uharibifu (5:04)
  11. Escapism (5:44)
  12. Pittance (4:33)
Review: Hot on the heels of their "Matriarch" prequel, Conduct stand firm and deliver the release of their lives; frothing out of an awe-inspiring, otherworldly cauldron of ideas, instrumentation and personal influences and dark energies, Oma is unlike anything you've heard before (including their still-ace Borderlands debut album) as it flexes from visceral tribal odysseys such as "The Rain It Come" and "San Bushmen" and 23rd century bloodclart jungle techno such as "RDM" to delicate, introspective excursions such as "Water & Oil" and the smoky blues of "Escapism" and beyond. Without question, one of the most vital and refreshing drum & bass albums of the year.
