Review: The cheeky junglist mash-ups continue unabated on Vibez 93 as the Dutch label very clearly spells out its plans on the r&b vs d&b 12". On the A-side we're treated to some crisp and direct flips of Blu Cantrell's 'Breathe' and TLC's 'No Scrubs', and the original songwriting content of the all-time classics is kept well and truly intact. All you need is a snappy, rolling beat dropped into the blend, and crowd-pleasing dancefloor magic is right there in the palm of your hands. On the flip Mary J Blige and Queen Latifah get the treatment too, giving you lot of bang for your buck on this big bad and bold record.

Review: What happens if you take a big vocal sample and drop it over a rinsing, old school jungle break beat? The first tune here, 'Opus III', that's what. It's a high energy affair that might well raise some eye brows given the vocal, but you can't help but admire it's all out joyousness and air of celebration. Flip it over and you'll find something just as divisive - another clattering jungle tune filled with kinetic kicks and flurries of snare, and once more a well-known vocal from Whamdo Project's 'Kings Of The Castle.'

Review: It's never easy keeping up with Vibez 93 and his all-out assault on the D&B scene, from the roughest jungle cuts for the underground through to canny crowdpleasers like this record right here. 'Video' is a no-nonsense flip of India.Arie's 2001 soul classic, with a righteous lyrical message which sits perfectly atop some fresh and funky breakbeats. 'Westchester Circles' meanwhile doffs its cap to Adam F's none-more-iconic 'Circles' and its source material, 'Westchester Lady' by Bob James. No prizes for guessing the reference material on 'Everybody Loves The Sunshine '23', but this is a different version to the Roy Ayers classic which is going to be peak festival fodder this season. Then cap it off with a perfect slice of sunshine rollage in 'Brasilia' and you've got a record primed for tonnes of fun wherever it gets dropped.

This new EP, Punkrocker, is another hard-hitting one in several different ways. The opener 'Aquatic Rock' makes an emotional impact - the soulful sounds, ambient pads and delicate floating breaks get you in the mood before things get darker with driving bass and ragga vocals. 'Herault' is another one with jazzy melodies and warm, spring-day atmospheres over tumbling drums and the title cut then gets playful on broken beats, undulating rhythms and filtered melodic loops. 'Serious (Style & Niceness)' is icy and minimal and brilliant.

Review: Hospital Records has reached a milestone that few independent labels ever do: their 500th release. It's an astonishing achievement, so to mark the occasion they've put together a two-disc set of exclusives and previously unheard remixes of classic label cuts. While there are few surprises, there's plenty of heat on show, from the sparkling, summery d&b brilliance of Marky and Makoto's remix of Solah's 'Everything Is Possible', and the bowel-bothering bassline-goes-D&B mind-warp of 'Red Pill' by Flava D, to the ragga jungle-with-steel pan-melodies of Voltage's Sweet Irie hook-up 'Natty Love (Serum VIP)' and the punchy, MC-sporting peak-time weight of Iyre's 'Want No Drama (feat T-Man)'.
