4HP Eurorack module consisting of four buffer circuits for control voltages
Notes: Module A-180-4 is a fourfold CV buffer. Buffers are required if the control voltage coming from a CV source shows a voltage drop in case of changing loads or due to other reasons a buffering is required.

For the lower three units the input is normalled to the output of the above unit. That way the module can work as 1-in-4 buffered multiple provided that no signals are applied to the inputs of the three lower units.

Typical applications:

- Buffering the outputs of voltage controlled switches (e.g. A-150-1, A-150-8, A-151, A-152). Comment: in case of bidirectional switches it's not possible to integrate the buffers into the switching module because the direction is not known (i.e. which terminal of the switch is working as input and which as output). All electronic switches suffer from a small residual restistance that may cause a small voltage drop without buffering. This may become a problem especially when VCOs are controlled by the switched voltages.
- Buffering of CV interfaces, quantizers, slew limiter, S&H/T&H, sequencer etc. when VCOs are controlled by the CV (provided that the module in question does not feature a buffered output)
- Buffered multiple (similar to A-180-3)

Doepfer A-177-2 External Foot Controller II Module
Cat: 751715 Rel: 23 Oct 19

Foot controller interface - 8HP
Notes: Economically priced module for connecting one foot controller and one double foot switch for control A-100 functions by means of the feet. For example, the frequency of a filter or the loudness can be controlled by a foot controller, but even other parameters like LFO frequency, modulation depth, phasing, pitch or any other voltage controlled parameter. The gate outputs controlled by the double foot switch can be used e.g. to trigger an envelope generator or to start/stop a sequencer. Even a single foot switch can be used if only one gate signal is required.

A special application of the A-177-2 is the usage within a Trautonium replica. The foot switches can be used to switch the mixtures of the subharmonic oscillator A-113. The foot controller can be used to control the overall loudness in combination with a VCA.

A-177 is compatible with the foot controllers FP5 and double foot switch VFP2. The Foot controller and double foot switch are not included with the module. If you want to use another foot controller or foot switch it has to be compatible to FP5 or VFP2.

If the foot controller FP5 is used the CV output range is about 0...+8V. The gate output levels are 0/+12V in combination with the VFP2 (foot switch not operated = 0V, foot switch operated = +12V).

Doepfer A-185-1 Active Bus Access Module
Cat: 751760 Rel: 23 Oct 19

Provides input & output access to your Eurorack's internal CV/Gate bus
Notes: Active bus access module to feed CV and Gate into the A-100 bus (e.g. when using more than one frame or with external CV/Gate interfaces). Miniature jack sockets for CV In, Gate In, 2xCV Out, 2xGate Out, 2 LEDs for CV/Gate control

In general, the A-185 is recommended as soon as more than 2 VCO's (A-110, A-111) are controlled by the same control voltage source. Without interconnection of the A-185 in this case tuning inaccuracies (scale) may occur. The A-185 is mounted close to the VCOs. The controlling voltage for all VCOs is applied to the CV In socket of the A-185. By means of the CV line of the bus board the CV is connected to all VCOs at the same bus board.

4-track, 16-step trigger sequencer
Notes: TRIQ164 is a 4-track, 16-step trigger sequencer.

Four track buttons select the track to be edited; with 16 buttons each step of the track can be activated an is then displayed by an LED.

For each step in each track a "repeat" can be activated, resulting in repeated triggers within one step. The number of repeats can be selected from one to eight by the REPEAT knob. Additionally, the repeat count can be CV controlled by the REPEAT CV input.

The inputs MUTE 1/2 allow to mute the outputs 1 and 2 by an external signal (e.g. for muting a kick drum)

Each of the 16 steps has a separate trigger output for additional control for certain steps or limiting the sequence length by connecting one of the outputs to the RESET input.

Use it for any kind of rhythmical patterns, typically for triggering drum sounds or envelope generator!

No, it has no pattern load/save features; this will be part of a future, much more complex sequencer. TRIQ164 is designed as improved replacement for the STEP10.

Attenuation inversion & offset adjustment synth module
Notes: In our projet Orage Magnetique dedicated to the design of a sound spaciolab to recreate sounds from space, the module POLES enables to adapt the signal from magnetic polarisation to get the best sound simulation with dual amplification, attenuation, inversion and offset adjustment.

The module POLES offers 2 separate channels.

POLES enables to attenuate, invert & amplify a signal. It is very useful to adapt different signals to different inputs. It also enables to adjust the offset of your signal if you want to adapt it to +/- 5V or 0/+5 for example. If nothing is connected to the input, it will act as a fixed voltage source.

Expansion module to the A-149-1
Notes: A-149-2 is an extension module for A-149-1. It makes available 8 digital random voltages (i.e. only low/high states like a gate signal). The outputs are controlled by the "Quantized Random Voltages" section of the assigned A-149-1 and correspond to the 8 digital outputs of the shift register that is used to generate the Quantized Random Voltages. As the alteration of the A-149-2 outputs is clock controlled by the Clk In of the "Quantized Random Voltages" section of the A-149-1 the A-149-2 can be used to create random rhythmical sequences.

The A-149-2 requires the A-149-1 and has to be mounted directly to the left or right of the A-149-1 as an internal ribbon cable connection has to be established between A-149-1 and A-149-2.

Multiples and mixing utilities synth module, 4HP size
Notes: Links provides 3 utility functions focused on signal distribution and mixing.

1:3 is a 3-output buffered multiple, with an offset error < 0.1%. It is useful for distributing the voltage from a CV output with a large protection resistor to several modules - particularly VCOs.

2:2 is a 2-input summer with unity gains. The sum of the two input channels is distributed to 2 outputs.

3:1 is a 3-input mixer with a gain of 1/3 for each channel (averager). It is particularly suitable for rapidly mixing audio sources such as oscillators, for which a unity gain mixer would have caused clipping.

A 2-color output monitoring LED is available for each of these functions.

Dual trigger modifier, consisting of two trigger inverters for gate, clock or trigger signals - 4HP
Notes: Module A-165 (Dual Trigger Modifier) contains two separate trigger modifiers, to use with logical/digital levels (gate, clock, trigger). Each half of the module enables signals generated by the A-100 to communicate with other instruments (such as an external sequencer) or is simply used where you want to reverse a trigger polarity.

Whatever signal is patched into the input, inverted by the module, and fed out of the Inv. Out (inverted output) socket. At the same time, a trigger signal of roughly 50 ms is generated every time an edge of the trigger pulse is sensed (negative as well as positive). This trigger signal is available at the +/- output.

Two LEDs act as indicators showing the level of signal available at the two outputs.

When both units are daisy-chained the module can be used as level shifter for gate/trigger/clock signals (from min. +2,5V up to +12V)

Doepfer A-170 Dual Slew Limiter Module
Cat: 751699 Rel: 23 Oct 19

Two separate slew limiters for generating portamento effects - 8HP
Notes: Module A-170 contains two separate slew limiters, also known as portamento controllers or integrators. The first SL has just one joint control, which sets both rise and fall times (c. 0 ...10 sec). The second SL has separate controls for rise and fall times, and can therefore be used as a simple AR envelope generator. Over and above this, you can set the overall range for these parameters, with a three-position switch, as on the full ADSRs.

Both slew limiters have two LEDs each, to show the state of the rising and falling voltages.

Additional technical remarks: If the upper slew limiter is used for precision applications (e.g. portamento/glide of one or more VCOs) a buffer (e.g. A-185-1 or A-185-2) is recommended between the A-170 output and the VCO(s) input(s). The reason is a small voltage drop that is caused by the protection resistor at the A-170 output. An A-185-1 or A-185-2 connected between the A-170 and the VCO(s) avoids that voltage loss. For all A-170 manufactured later than May 2009 (recognizable by the label "Version 2" on the pc board) this remark is not valid as these modules are equipped with an additional voltage buffer at the output.

The lower slew limiter cannot be used for precision applications because of the voltage loss caused by the diodes of the circuit.

Doepfer A-176 Control Voltage Source Module
Cat: 751711 Rel: 23 Oct 19

Three independent voltage sources - 8HP
Notes: Module A-176 (Control Voltage Source) provides three voltage sources, to use wherever an extra CV is required. The top two voltage sources (CV 1 and CV 2) have controls for coarse and fine control of the voltage output; the third source (CV 3) just has the one control.

The range of the voltages output can be preset, either to 0 to +5 V or to -2.5 V to +2.5 V depending on your likely requirements. There is a jumper on the circuit board for each of the three voltage sources.

A typical use for the module would be to provide fine as well as coarse tuning for an A-110 standard VCO, (which, unlike the A-111, only has one tune control).

In general, this module will be useful whenever you need a manually controllable CV on a module which doesn't itself have a built-in control.

Additional 4HP module for the A-160
Notes: Module A-161 is an eight-step Clock Sequencer which is internally connected to the Clock Divider (A-160). Eight outputs are sequentially switched by the clock signals from the A-160 (see Fig. 1) and can act, for instance, as sequential rhythmic triggers for an envelope. The reset on the A-160 also works on the A-161 (instant return to Step 1). The low/high levels of the output signals are 0V and about +10V. In combination with a mixer (A-138) short analogue sequences can be generated. Our MIDI-Analog-Sequencer MAQ16/3 is suitable for MIDI-controlled analogue sequences up to 48 steps. Two sample & hold units in one module for generating stepped random voltages or slicing signals
Notes: Module A-148 (Dual S&H) has two identical sample & hold modules, designed to produce 'staircase' voltages. The signal present at the sample input is sampled at a rate set by the signal at the trigger input, and held at that voltage at the S&H output.

The exact shape of the staircase depends on the sort of waveform at the sample input: NOISE or RANDOM signals produce random patterns; an LFO produces rising or falling staircase patterns.

Two LEDs for each S&H indicate the voltage (positive or negative) of the sampled signal.

Low frequency oscillator featuring 5 different waveforms - 8HP
Notes: Module A-145 is a low frequency oscillator, which produces cyclical control voltages in a very wide range of frequencies. Five waveforms are available: sawtooth, inverted sawtooth, triangle, sine and square wave.

The LFO can be used as a modulation source for any number of modules - for instance modulating the pulse width or frequency of a VCO, modulation of the cut-off frequency of a VCF, or amplitude modulation with a VCA.

A three-way switch lets you select three frequency ranges, spanning from one cycle every several minutes at the lowest, to moderate audio frequency at the highest (about 4-5 kHz).

The LFO signal can also be synchronised, via the reset input.

In non-critical situations, though, its VCAs can be used to control audio signals.

Amplification is governed by the sum of the voltages patched into the two CV inputs.

Distortion/wavehaping module with extensive adjustment parameters - 8HP
Notes: Distortion/Waveshaper module for dynamic distortion of audio signals with extended settings. The applications of this module are waveform modifications and distortion like clipping and waveshaping of audio signals and control voltages (e.g. LFO).

The input is split by the module into three parts, processed by them and then mixed together:

- The original signal which can be amplified or attenuated with the "A" control
- Negative signal component with adjustable and voltage controllable clipping level "-L" and amplitude "-A"
- Positive signal component with adjustable and voltage controllable clipping level "+L" and amplitude "+A"

The amplitude parameters of both the positive and negative components can amplify in a positive or inverted fashion i.e. it can fold the signal. This creates additional harmonics and enriches the sound, creating very living sounds, especially when modulated by dynamic CVs.

Low frequency oscillator with adjustable waveform - 8HP
Notes: Module A-146 (LFO 2) is a Low Frequency Oscillator, which produces periodic control voltages over a wide range of frequencies.

The LFO can be used as a modulation source for a series of modules (for instance pulse width and/or frequency modulation of a VCO, modulation of a VCF cut-off frequency, amplitude modulation with a VCA).

Three outputs are available, with different waveforms: sawtooth / triangle; square wave, and positive-voltage square wave.

The waveform is continuously adjustable from rising sawtooth, through triangle to falling sawtooth. The same control affects the pulse width of the square wave.

A three-way switch can select one of three frequency ranges, spanning from one cycle every few minutes, at the lowest, up to audio frequency at the highest.

Quad VCA with linear curve - 8HP
Notes: Module A-132-2 contains four linear VCAs with a common level control section for all four VCAs. The module can be used for all applications of simultaneous amplitude/level control of four different audio or CV signals. The module has a manual level control Amp. and two control voltage inputs CV1 and CV2 available. CV2 is equipped with a polarizer to adjust the effect and polarity of the external control voltage.

The A-132-2 is equipped with an internal connector that can be used to normalize the four input sockets to other modules. So far only the quadrature LFO/VCO A-143-9 is equipped with a suitable matching connector. To connect the A-132-2 and the A-143-9 no soldering is required. A short 10 pin ribbon cable with removable connectors on both ends is used. For the normalling to other modules (e.g. Quad AD/LFO A-143-1, Quad ADSR A-143-2, Quad LFO A-143-3 or other modules with several outputs like VCOs or multimode VCFs) the second side of the ribbon cable has to be wired manually to the outputs of the module in question.

The maximum manual amplification for each channel is about 1.5 (i.e. "Amp." control fully CW). With an external control voltage applied to CV2 the maximum amplification goes beyond 1.5 until the signal starts to clip. The maximum output level is about 20Vpp (i.e. the signal clips at about +10V and -10V).

Typical applications:

Simultaneous level control of up to four modulation sources (e.g. ADSRs, LFOs)

Simultaneous level control of up to four audio sources (e.g. VCO outputs, multimode VCF outputs, multi-channel audio signals)

Simultaneous FM effects with different audio signals (with CV1 or CV2 in audio range)

Crossfader for two different A-100 signals, plus insert for external effects
Notes: The A-138d primarily is used for crossfading between two modular signals. On the other hand you can used it for inserting stompboxes or other effects into your modular system. Both the inputs and the mix output are available twice, like a mini-multiples e.g. for using the input signal also for other applications, kind of like a Thru.

Crossfader: With the crossfading control CF you blend manually between the inputs In 1 and In 2. The Mute switch allows for muting one of the two signals, independent on the crossfader position.

Effect insert: The signal at input In1 is emitted at the FX Send output and can be attenuated with the Atten. control because the modular system works with much higher levels.

The effect unit's output is inserted to the FX Return input socket and its level can be boosted with the Amp. control. The processed signal is available at the bottom in 2 socket.

Use the CF control to blend between the original signal and the effect signal and to mute switch for quick muting e.g. of the effect return signal.

Envelope follower & pre-amplifier for microphone/line-signals - 8HP
Notes: Module A-119 (External Input / Envelope Follower) is designed to allow external audio signals to be integrated into the System A-100. It comprises a pre-amp, envelope follower, and comparator.

The pre-amp has two inputs: an unbalanced input for line level signals, with a gain factor of from 0 to 20, and a balanced input with a gain factor of from 0 to 500, for insertion of low level signals, for instance from a microphone or electric guitar.

The Envelope Follower reads the signal level of the input, and puts out a proportional voltage as an envelope at its own output.

The comparator generates a gate signal whenever the input goes above an adjustable trigger threshold.

Three LED's help you keep track of overload, the envelope, and the gate signal.

MIDI interface for the TRAX! sequencer - 3HP
Notes: The MIDI BUS was designed to be a MIDI interface for the Eurorack system, and more specifically to offer MIDI inputs and outputs for the TRAX performance sequencer.

This device provides opto-isolation of the MIDI input and buffers all MIDI signals.

The MIDI BUS provides MIDI IN/OUT/THRU inputs and outputs on 3.5mm TRS jacks. Three 3.5mm to 5-pin DIN MIDI cables are included with each MIDI BUS product. These MIDI cables conform to the TRS MIDI B Spec Class, currently supported by Arturia, Novation, and 1010 Music devices.

The MIDI BUS uses the power bus cable to receive and transmit MIDI at the +3.3 volt standard. In order to do this, the MIDI BUS repurposes what the Eurorack standard defines as the INT GATE line of the power bus for MIDI IN signals, and the INT CV line of the power bus for MIDI OUT signals.

To prevent conflicts with other signals that may be using these lines of the power bus, we recommend using the special MIDI BUS power cable provided with this unit, or our optional Flying Bus power cable when using the MIDI BUS with the TRAX product or any other products using this new MIDI standard.

The MIDI BUS power cable that is provided with your MIDI BUS will allow only a single device in your system to send and transmit MIDI.

The optional Flying Bus power cable allows multiple modules connected to this cable to share MIDI data with one another and also receive the proper power from the system, without connecting MIDI signals to other modules in your system.

Dual crossfader module for voltage controlled morphing between two audio or CV signals
Notes: Module A-134-2 contains two identical voltage controlled crossfader units.

Each unit has two voltage controlled amplifiers (VCAs) with opposite control behaviour available. The outputs of the two VCAs are mixed together to obtain a common output. The behaviour of the control voltage inputs can be chosen with an internal jumper:

Symmetrical mode: If the corresponding jumper is not set both VCAs of the crossfader have the same 50% amplification with zero CV. If the applied CV becomes positive the amplification of VCA1 decreases and those of VCA2 increases in the same way. A negative CV has the opposite result. The CV voltage range to obtain the maximum/minimum positions of the crossfader is about -2.5....+2.5V. This mode is useful for bidirectional (i.e. positive and negative) control voltages, for example LFO or joy stick (adjusted to 0V CV in centre position).

Asymmetrical mode: If the corresponding jumper is set VCA2 is fully closed and VCA1 has full 100% amplification with zero CV. If the applied CV becomes positive the amplification of VCA1 decreases and those of VCA2 increases in the same way. The CV voltage range to obtain the maximum/minimum positions of the crossfader is about 0...+5V. A negative CV has no function in this mode. This mode is useful for unidirectional (i.e. only positive) control voltages, for example ADSR, ribbon controller or Theremin control voltage.

The CV input of the upper unit (CV1) is normalled to the CV input of the lower unit (CV2). I.e. if no plug is inserted to CV2 the CV input of the upper unit (CV1) also controls the lower unit.

The second signal input of the upper unit (In1B) is normalled to the first signal input of the lower unit (In2A). I.e. if no plug is inserted into In2A the signal In1B is used as the first signal input of the second unit.

As the inputs and outputs are DC coupled the module can be used for both audio and control voltage signal processing.

Voltage controlled waveform processor - 8HP
Notes: Module A-116 provides voltage-controlled dynamic waveform modification of audio signals. It can produce new waveforms from the standard VCO shapes, and modulate these changes in real time. The signal first of all goes through an input amplifier, which can attenuate the signal as well as amplify it by up to a factor of 2.

After the input amplifier, the signal goes through two parallel processors: a clipping circuit, and an asymmetrical amplifier. The processed signals are added together and sent to the output.

Clipping-Level and Symmetry amounts are not just manually controllable, but can also be modulated by control voltages, to produce complex, constantly changing waveforms.

Logarithmic mixer for mixing up to four signals to one output - 8HP
Notes: Module A-138 is a four channel mixer, which can be used with either control voltages or audio signals. Each of the four inputs has an attenuator, and there's a master attenuator, so that the mixer can be used at the end of the audio chain - i.e. it can be used to interface directly with an external mixer, amplifier, etc.

A-138b features potentiometers with logarithmic response, so especially suitable for audio signal mixing.

Vintage Edition with a black faceplate and custom knobs.

Frequency divider for clock, trigger & gate signals - 4HP
Notes: Module A-160 is a frequency divider for clock/trigger/gate signals, designed to be a source of lower frequencies, particularly for rhythm uses. The Trigger input will take clock signals from, e.g. an LFO, MIDI sync, or the gate from a MIDI-CV interface.

At the outputs, you have access to the sub-divided clock signals, from half the clock frequency down to 1/64. The low/high levels of the output signals are 0V and about +10V.

The A-160 also has a reset input. Whenever a reset signal is sensed, all outputs are set to zero, until the reset voltage disappears.

The Clock Divider can be used in combination with the A-161 Clock Sequencer to produce stepped sequences with a length of from one to eight events.

Precision scaler to adapt Moog Mother 32 1V/oct to Eurorack standard
Notes: Erica Pico MSCALE (Moog Scale, to be specific) is precision scaler to adapt Moog Mother 32 to Eurorack standard 1V/oct control voltages.

Those who own Moog Mother 32 know that it requires -5V - +5V on 1V/oct input to operate in full range, while the Eurorack standard is 0V - +10V. So, to control Moog Mother 32 from a Eurorack sequencer you need to bias a sequencer output for 5 volts down. And vice versa - Moog Mother 32 sequencer outputs -5V - +5V on 1V/oct output, and, if you wish to control some Eurorack VCO from Moog Mother 32, you need to bias it 5 volts up. This is exactly what MSCALE does - it has two sections - upper one adds 5V to the input voltage, other subtracts 5V form the input voltage.

Of course, the module is not limited for use with Moog Mother 32 only. You can use it as a regular Eurorack precision voltage scaler.
