Notes: 3xVCA offers three high class amplifier circuits with linear characteristic. Thanks to AC / DC compatibility, a very low noise floor and basically no distortion, the module is not only a great partner for control voltages, but audio material as well. Besides a signal input and output, each VCA has its own CV input. The dual potentiometers regulate levels and bipolar CV attenuation values of all amplifiers. Using these rather unusual, yet very practical components, it was possible to equip the 3x VCA with a front panel that is only 6 HP wide. Switches allow the user to feed the results of one amplifier to the output of the next amplifier, so we can get 1+2, 2+3, and 1+2+3 outputs mix. Two-colored LEDs visualize CV and output signals.

Notes: Dual xFade is a compact voltage controlled crossfader suitable for both audio and CVs. Smaller knobs set manual crossfade between A<>B, and bigger knobs are CV attenuverters. LEDs show the adjusted positive and negative CV sides for easy monitoring.

Upper inputs (section 1) are normalled to lower inputs (section 2). Thus the same signal pair A&B can be differently crossfaded in both sections.

The switch clones section's 1 controls to the section 2, which is useful to make stereo Dry/Wet adjustment or stereo VCA.

Four jumpers on the back can give optional 5x amplification for each A or B input. Sot it is easy to crossfade modular level with linear level from pedals. Installed jumpers give 1x amplification, removing jumpers gives 5x amplification.

Output 1 is mixed with output 2 if left unconnected.

Notes: Clever FM module that does digital-style through-zero FM using analogue circuits. Use any signals from other modules as your carrier and modulator, then phase modulate or wavefold in the FM Aid.

Supplier's Notes:
FM AID is a module designed to perform through-zero linear Frequency Modulation (FM) in the analog modular world. Any arbitrary signals can be used as a Carrier and Modulator. The module copies FM in how it is done in digital implementation, but in a completely analog circuit free of digital aliasing artifacts. Digital or software FM oscillators are mainly based on a ramp waveform which is then shaped to other waveforms. This is also represented in the FM AID module: sawtooth signal is expected on the Carrier input to give the indicated sine, triangle, sawtooth and square waveforms on the respective outputs. However the user is not limited to only use sawtooth for the Carrier and any other signal can be plugged giving many complex waveforms at the outputs.

All known FM tricks from digital implementation are also applied - you can endlessly experiment with the Carrier/Modulator frequency ratios, Modulation index (FM knob), Modulator's amplitude shaping (CV knob), feedback FM (output is fed back to the Modulator's input) and many other.
Carrier input has normalled connection to the Modulator's input. This internal routing is disconnected each time a plug is inserted in the Modulator's input. That is a handy option which allows the module to be used with only one signal source - this single signal will act as Carrier and Modulator at the same time. There won't be any frequency differences between Carrier and Modulator in this case, but many interesting wave folding sounds will be available anyway.

Technically speaking FM AID uses Phase Modulation, not Frequency Modulation. The sonic difference is that the produces sound is brighter.

Notes: HN VCF is a state variable filter having 12 db Low Pass, 12 dB High Pass, 6 dB Band Pass plus 18 db Low Pass marked as "LP!", because it has extra drive. All three parameters: "Freq", "Resonance" and "Drive" have dual knobs with outer knobs controlling bipolar CV amount. These affected CVs are then shown by the relative green/blue LEDs.

The possibility to have CV over "Resonance" and "Drives" makes it a very capable 6 HP filter.

"LP!" output has 6 dB steeper slope (18 dB) compared to ordinary 12 dB "LP" output. Plus it has much more drive.

Notes: LED Meter is a handy utility module designed to show audio levels. Three color versions are available:

- green colour with yellow-red peak segments.
- all blue colour
- all yellow colour

There are total 30 led segments, each one roughly corresponds to 1 dB of level, so it is 30 dB of measurement level available with this module.
The module has an input for the signal to be displayed, and its buffered copy is sent to the output for further processing, so no external splitter is needed.
Two trimmers are accessible via holes on the front panel: left trimmer adjusts brightness and right trimmer is used for the level adjustment. So the module can represent full scale signals ranging from 1 V to 12 V.
There is operation mode jumper on the back side. When the jumper is installed - bipolar operation is active, and when the jumper is removed - ordinary audio meter is active.

Notes: The Herzlich Man Machine Interface - a beloved instrument, but what if there was even more of it? An MMI with more than one dimension? An MMI arranged in a manner of... matrix?

With operation identical to it's little brother, the MMI Matrix allows the user to patch inputs to outputs by connecting zig-zagged patterns together with fingers, fruits, cables, pizza slices or any other conductive source. The labyrinth patterns will immediately connect the zig-zags immediately adjacent, whether above and below, or on each side. Furthermore, the two labyrinths within labyrinths will connect ALL adjacent inputs and outputs, which may lead to beautiful disasters or otherworldly insights.

As with its predecessor, the MMI Matrix is fully touch and pressure sensitive, reacting to the amount of pressure exerted, the amount of skin connecting, and the resistive quality of your body. Incredibly easy to perform with, the MMI Matrix offers new and far more advanced ways to patch your performances, whether CV, triggers or audio signals. Create reverb swells that vary between different types of reverb, use multiple fingers and labyrinth patterns to mix trigger signals into complex polyrhythms or create beautiful chords by combining various pitch inputs with a chord oscillator. Notes: The MMI Maxima is the final word in MMI technology. Beautiful gold patterns form gradients of touch sensitive surface areas, each connected to an input/output. Drag, rub, pinch or tap your fingers across to form connections, and create evocative and unique performances. Utilize the various pattern densities and shapes in your performance, or create installations with whatever conductive material is to hand.

Operation is easy: simply plug any audio, LFO, CV, trigger, gate, offset or clock into any of the inputs on the front panel, and connect one or several outputs to destinations in your system. The symbols near the sockets correspond to the shapes on the panel, and all that remains is for you to form the connection between the desired symbols with your hand, or any other conductive object you may have. Connect multiple at the same time to achieve liquid, gradual mixing, evolving rhythmic patterns, mixed LFOs and more. Furthermore, touch the pressure plates more firmly or in more dense areas to form stronger connections - in practice, this means a signal will pass with more or less intensity, based on the pressure you apply.

There are countless possibilities here: the shapes make it easy to memorize your patch, and the many inputs and outputs allow for enormous creativity. Eight inputs and one output? No problem. Maybe you want eight outputs sharing one input? Also no problem. Why not patch in an offset voltage, and then use the pressure sensitivity to sweep a filter with the offset patched into the filter resonance CV control? Or maybe create volume swells by patching audio into a VCA, or even an effect, for reverb or delay swells. Maybe you want to create chords, crescendos or chaotic and swiftly changing drum patterns?

Although practice helps, there are no rules for playing the MMI Maxima. Use it upside down or downside up, rack it, tape it to your body or drill it into your guitar and use it with the expression input on your pedals (yes, this is actually possible. Seriously.) With no external power needed, it makes an excellent performance companion for any system, big or small, modular, semi-modular or even not-modular-at-all.

Intended as a controller for musicians and non-musicians alike, the purpose of the MMI Maxima is to put emphasis on your performance and expression, rather than your competence at the ivory keys or dexterity at a drum pad. Notes: The Man-Machine Interface, or MMI, is a passive touch and pressure sensitive controller which allows the user to direct CV and audio signals at will. The MMI consists of three input/output jacks, and five body contact surfaces in glorious gold.

The zig-zag body contacts correspond to the input/output jacks, with the top zig-zag connecting to the top jack, the middle zig-zag connecting to the middle jack, and the lower zig-zag connecting to the lower jack. The spiral patterns in between the zig-zags are comprised of the two adjacent jacks, so the upper spiral is comprised of the upper and middle jack, while the lower spiral is comprised of the middle and lower jack.

In order to operate the MMI, the user can touch any two points with their fingers, patch cables, a piece of fruit or vegetable, or any other conductive substance or object, in order to complete the connection. The degree of contact made with the MMI, and the resistance of the object completing the circuit, will determine the output that is sent along the circuit. For instance, if a user were to patch a VCO into the top jack, and patch the MMI into a filter in the middle jack, the VCO will be sent to the filter when the topmost zig-zag and lower zig-zag are connected by two fingers, for instance.

But how about the spirals? The spirals offer a way to make a connection with one finger. Using the example from before, the connection will instantly complete when the user touches the upper spiral pattern. Using this principle, it becomes possible to use the MMI in unusual and interesting ways, such as a rudimentary keyboard, a drum controller, a switch and any other number of weird and exciting purposes.

It is also possible to combine several MMI - using two different MMI, it is possible to reach across one zig-zag to another zig-zag, in order to make a different connection, or to place a particularly long vegetable across all the contacts just to see what will happen. The MMI is an unusual patching system for the experimental musician, and lends itself well to all manner of experimentation and weird instruments.

The MMI can bleed a tiny bit of signal when using sharp VCO waves like square waves, while other sounds like sine waves will have softer responses. This can easily be corrected with amplification or attenuation as needed.

The MMI takes up 4HP and is skiff friendly, and is also suitable for installing in external boxes as a passive control unit. You can combine any number of MMI to create increasingly complex keyboard-like arrangements, drum pad matrixes or advanced switch systems.

Notes: The Om is a slim, passive 2hp LPG with characterful resonance. Taking notes from its bigger brother, the Omen, the Om offers similarly beautiful resonant LPG action in half the size and skiff-friendly depth.

In a convergence of old-school LPG design and more modern components, the Om boasts a single -6dB resonant filter, custom hand-built vactrol and no less than three cutoff modes designed to inspire your next sounds.

Although the little brother of the Omen, the Om brings a distinct sound to the table. Do not mistake the Om for an Omen sawn in half, as they will both provide musically interesting and useful sounds to your setup.

Exactly as with the Omen, care has been taken to create a circuit with near-zero audio bleed and the best possible characteristics for a passive LPG. Of course, many of the natural features of vactrols remain, such as subtle memory effect when engaging the vactrol for long periods.

Finally, you receive maximum blinkenlights as an LED on the front panel simulates the action of the vactrol, so you'll always know what's going on under the hood. No collection of fancy LPG's is complete without the Om(en)!

Notes: You've been plugging, patching and sweeping for hours, when it hits you: you're not actually listening to what you're making. Up until this point, the sad reality of modular has been that your ears won't hear the sweet sounds of your music, unless you invest in a bloated, oversized output module or a professional mixer. This ends now.

The Herzlich Micro Phone Out is an active headphone output in only 2hp - and it includes a very pleasantly tactile volume slider! Gone are the days where you would have to spend untold hp on useful and clean headphone outputs, now all that remains is beautiful, small simplicity.

No stereo signals to process? No problem. The left channel automatically works as a mono input with nothing plugged into the right channel. Forget everything else - this is the one and only output module you'll need!

It's another Herzlich Labs release: the 2hp stereo Attenuverter. Two channels of connected attenuversion, allowing you to fully and smoothly invert any signals you plug in - turn negative to positive, turn phase to antiphase, and find all the variations in between.

With the usual pleasantly tactile sliding pot, the sAttenuverter is both performance friendly and inspiring to use. Extremely suitable for linked mono signals and stereo alike, it will feel right at home in the increasingly popular stereo setups in modular.

Notes: You've been up all night in a bidding war on eBay to win a prized 80s rack effect unit - you can't wait to add some serious cheese to your tracks, and the sound of gated reverbs ring in your ears. Your heart pounds, and your pulse rises to crescendo as you win the auction! But there is one problem: your Eurorack system runs way too hot to simply plug straight into your stereo FX units. Your heart sinks, as you realize there is not much you can do that doesn't involve a lot of messing around with complicated and weird mono modules. That is, until now: introducing the Herzlich SFXI.

The Stereo FX Integrator was designed in response to my own need: owning several cool stereo FX units, and having no easy way to integrate them with an easy send and return, in my Eurorack system. Attenuate your Eurorack signals down to line level, or even all the way down to instrument level, and get a nice, clean boost back up to modular levels, with this dead simple and highly useful device from the R&D department at Herzlich Labs.

Notes: Need an offset voltage? Of course you do, you probably need one all the time, and you can never seem to find one. Well, here's two.

Yes, the Stereo Offset boasts not one but TWO linked offset voltages, and even better, they can be independently set as unipolar or bipolar with jumpers on the back of the module. To further aid your adventure in offsetting, bicolor LEDs will indicate the current state of both outputs.

Smoothly transition between voltages to simultaneously control other functions in your system, either by applying identical voltages to two different places, or by using simultaneous unipolar and bipolar signals for advanced control over your Eurorack system.

Modulator

An extremely wide range oscillator, spanning from deep LFO frequencies all the way up to supersonic sound! Four base waveforms and diverse internal routing options form a versatile palette of modulations for the CARRIER to feed on.

- Activating hard SYNC on the Modulator locks its core to the Carrier's heartbeat. The effect can be dramatic. Try this while phase modulating!

- Octave RANGE switch lets you quickly flick up and down between octaves. All the way beyond audio-rate and LFO speed octaves. Perfect for experimenting with different PM sidebands and taming the wide frequency range of the Modulator.

Waveshaper

This isn't a classic waveshaper! Developed anew from the ground up, this waveshaper is focused on deep harmonic experimentation and audio obliteration. Each waveshaper parameter is capable of being "turned up to 11".

FOLD up to 5 octaves above the fundamental Carrier frequency. A ceiling forms at maximum, imparting additional harmonics.

FEEDBACK the waveshaped and phase-modulated audio through a signal path internal to the waveshaper.

AMPLITUDE modulation spans thru-zero, allowing for full-range ring modulation effects with bipolar CV or audio signals.

CLIP the final stage of amplitude with the switch to introduce a last stage of harmonics before the complex signal exits through the final OUT.

Switchable inverting attenuators on each CV input, for quickly inverting the behaviour of your modulation. The indicator illuminates red to tell you the attenuator has been inverted.

Two distinct waveshaping modes

A press of the shape switch toggles Mindphaser between RAMPOID (green) and TRIANGULAR (yellow) waveshaping modes.

These modes have a remarkable effect on the behaviour of wavefolding and overall character of the final complex OUT, in addition to TZ-PM Bus character.

RAMPOID mode folds more asymmetrically, with raucous, buzzing harmonic artefacts as you sweep and introduce TZ-PM

TRIANGULAR mode folds more symmetric, splitting the complex sine wave at its peak centre of the waveform. TZ-PM character is less raucous, and more smooth.

TZ-PM Bus

Thru-zero phase modulation in the ANALOGUE realm! Unlike its digital counterpart, analogue TZ-PM has its own character we've come to expect from analogue circuitry!

Notes: The Looping ADSR is an extremely versatile envelope generator. It can act as a traditional ADSR envelope requiring a gate signal to activate or as a looping ADSR. Envelopes can be output with both linear and exponential curves. In Loop Mode it repeats the cycle of Attack, Decay, & Release. Once the Release phase is complete, it loops back to the Attack and begins the cycle again. The Looped envelope can be further manipulated with the Loop Scale knob. Loop Scale shrinks the overall size of the envelope while keeping the ratio of A:D:R identical. All knobs on the Looping ADSR have CV input. The Hungry Robot VCF is an all analog, 4-pole low pass filter with a self-oscillating resonance control. It is a close replication of the filter circuit found on the famous Prophet 5. It uses a HM2040 which is a high quality, faithful replication of the original SSM2040 chip. This resonant filter has a beautiful tonal quality. The over-sized knobs provide a satisfying tactile response. The cutoff frequency can be controlled by external control voltage. It has a built-in attenuator and invert switch for the incoming CV. Notes: Incredibly powerful two-channel filter module capable of much more than just filtering. State-variable digital filters with built-in VCAs designed to overdrive beautifully. Sounds great.

BIONIC LESTER MARK III is a 2-channel 2-pole state-variable digital filter with an unusual amount of good sonic character. The filter mode is continuously variable under manual or CV control, smoothly fading from lowpass to bandpass to highpass to notch to allpass with a single motion. The resonance stops just short of self-oscillation. A digital VCA controls the amplitude and the distortion of the input signal pre-filter. The filters have independent inputs and outputs, and an additional Mix output with balance control. The filter design was initially inspired by the best of late-1990s "virtual analog" filters and has gone far beyond.

The audio input controls have dual behavior. When the control (or CV input) is turned from zero position to the center, it operates as a simple gain control for that input. When turned past the center position towards the maximum, the signal will begin to soft-clip, adding hard clipping as the maximum is approached. This smooth and subtle distortion adds violence to otherwise unremarkable input material, generating additional harmonic content for the filter to process. The digital VCA that controls the gain and distortion functions is aware of the input signal's zero crossing, eliminating "clicking" noises when the gain is modulated.

Each filter section has three CV inputs. The first is a high-speed input hardwired to the filter's cutoff frequency, appropriate for snappy envelopes and slow moving voltages alike. The other two inputs (one with attenuverter control) are freely assignable to any of the filter parameters (cutoff, resonance, mode, gain), storable in a preset. The Mark III preset system stores eight fully programmed panel setups, instantly recalling everything under the harshest demands of performance. The Morph mode allows smooth fading between all of these presets.

Activate Filter B's LINK control for patch-free routing of the filter's control or audio signal. You can achieve dual-peak resonance, cable-free series routing, cascaded 4-pole filtering (with two stages of distortion), and full stereo using only one set of filter controls. The input normalization, LINK settings, and parallel mix output further reduce cable clutter while rapidly patching an elaborate signal flow.

The controls are arranged for maximum tweakability and minimum cable interference, with metal-shaft potentiometers attached to the panel on the large knobs. The Mark III OLED display displays the cutoff frequency in Hertz, resonance amount, and filter type morph. The CV inputs process all input voltages between -10 to +10 volts. Panel size is 15HP.

Amps comprises two precision linear VCAs that have been carefully designed to offer a wealth of flexibility and additional functionality. The front panel controls and signal normals allow these two VCAs to also be configured to function as: line level boosters, crossfaders, ring modulators, mixers, and much more. They can also be chained together by way of an included cable to form larger, more complex systems.

Amps features cascaded CV inputs and cascaded mix outputs allowing it to be used in a number of versatile configurations. A boost switch enables you to amplify each VCA's input by either +6dB or +20dB i ideal for boosting low amplitude signals or pleasingly overdriving audio. The addition of a phase inversion switch for the second channel allows Amps to function as a ring modulator. The CV normalization, which can also be inverted and offset, also allows for VC-Crossfader functionality.
