Studio monitors are an essential for anyone looking to make music, allowing you to hear the music with a clarity and precision that standard hi-fi speakers and headphones can’t match. The best studio monitors are loud, clear and reliable. These days, almost all monitors are ‘active’ meaning they have amplifiers built in and you just need to connect the signal from your audio interface or mixer. It’s a matter of personal taste whether you prefer the sound of a flatter, more accurate monitor or one with a little bit more vibe and colour that engages you more in the creative process. Whichever way you prefer it, brands like PreSonus, Yamaha and Genelec offer a range of monitors at different sizes and price points. From beginner-friendly compact monitors for small studios, through to professional options, we’ve got something for everyone.

ESI uniK 05+ 5" Active Reference Studio Monitor (single)
Cat: 459147 Rel: 15 Jun 12

Active reference 5" studio monitor
Notes: The uniK 05+ is the result of extensive development work performed in Germany, defining a new quality level in its class. With its new 5" kevlar low frequency driver and a new custom engineered and powerful high frequency magnetostatic tweeter, the uniK 05+ offers many improvements over our successful uniK 05 and will easily become an important part of your studio setup with its clear and strong sound image.

What makes uniK 05+ unique?

The uniK 05+ studio monitor offers true full range quality with extended low end in a small case and an entirely new signal processing and amplifier unit with a perfect order low-z and low noise design. Mos-Fet Bi-amplification ensures a high slew-rate and fast setting, featuring true analog vintage sound processing with LC-like gyrator technology for a stressless and silky sound.

A completely new feature is the unique one knob sound character adjustment from smooth to bright, allowing you to change parameters for every room and preference. The additional high resolution High and Low switches add additional control. And of course the uniK 05+ studio monitor features a real precision gain attenuator, instead of a simple volume control.

The new design of the crossover ensures an excellent phase response and safe power limitation, driving the woofer and tweeter in phase for optimal step response. The tweeter features a newly upgraded magnetostatic design with extremely low moving mass for extended frequency and fast transient response and high sound resolution. The matching woofer consists of a kevlar composite cone with high stiffness ensuring better piston motion and excellent low-end sound reproduction.

Another new feature is the flexible rubber feet with discrete height adjustment. They are not only helpful to reduce unwanted vibrations, but also allow you to tilt the speaker towards the precise listening point - a great feature for typical near field applications.

Other new special features that are not standard in this class are standby to save power consumption (can be disabled) and a ground lift switch.

And with it's copper color woofer cone and the high quality matte cabinet finish, it looks quite uniK, too!

They're perfect for recording musicians, producers, podcasters and vloggers, as well as professional audio engineers seeking an accurate portable reference with Bluetooth streaming.

JBL 104-BT Reference Monitors combine a powerful coaxial 4.5-inch (118 mm) low-frequency driver and .75-inch (19 mm) soft-dome tweeter, potent integrated 60-watt amplification and an innovative acoustic design to reproduce honest sound with exceptional imaging and crisp detail. Bluetooth streaming lets you check mixes over Bluetooth to make sure they sound great in every listening scenario.

Both the black 104-BT and white 104-BTW versions are sleek, elegant designs and compact form factors, making stunning statements in any studio while conserving valuable work space.

Creative professionals, music lovers and anyone who wants the flexibility to stream both wired and wireless sound into high-quality studio monitors can count on JBL 104-BT to provide an accurate, reliable sonic reference and a truly enjoyable listening experience.

Great mixes start with honest mix references. With JBL 104-BT, you'll hear the content you've created in true clarity and detail, with none of the coloration that can compromise your mix decisions. 104-BTs are optimized for desktop placement, and their smooth off-axis response means you can reference your mixes confidently across a wide sweet spot.

The world's top recording studios and touring artists rely on JBL Professional monitors to deliver unparalleled fidelity and performance. With our 1 Series, we've optimized that technology in our smallest form factor ever. The 104-BT Reference Monitor's innovative coaxial driver design features a high-frequency driver aligned with a woofer cone precisely contoured to deliver accurate response, exceptional detail and impressive off-axis performance. The result: neutral, accurate sound, anywhere. The cabinet's precisely contoured low-frequency port works with the driver to deliver powerful, tight bass at any volume level.

The 104-BT offers the convenience of Bluetooth streaming, which gives audio engineers the ability to check their mixes over Bluetooth to ensure they translate well to common listening scenarios.

The JBL 104-BT Reference Monitors' integrated 60-watt Class D power amplifier distributes a potent 30 watts per speaker.

JBL 104-BT Reference Monitors integrate smoothly into any production workspace, thanks to smart features like a front-panel input control that selects Bluetooth, Aux, RCA, TRS or combines all inputs- quickly check references or switch easily between tasks like playing back your tracks and taking a phone call. Or, select all inputs for a simple mix. Front-panel volume control allows convenient level adjustments without straying from the sweet spot, and a front-panel headphone jack automatically mutes the speakers, giving you isolation in one simple step. And, JBL 104-BT Reference Monitors' dual 1/4-inch balanced, dual RCA and single 1/8-inch inputs accommodate a wide range of signal sources.

JBL LSR306P MKII Active Studio Monitor (single)
Cat: 680824 Rel: 03 Oct 18

Powered 6" two-way active studio monitor
Notes: The next-generation JBL 306P MkII powered studio monitor makes legendary JBL performance available to every studio. With the revolutionary JBL Image Control Waveguide and refined transducers, JBL 306P MkII offers stunning detail, precise imaging, a wide sweet spot and impressive dynamic range that enhances the mix capabilities of any modern workspace. Leveraging patented technologies derived from the JBL 7 Series and M2 Master Reference Monitors and sporting a sleek, modern design, JBL 306P MkII delivers outstanding performance and an enjoyable mix experience at an accessible price.

Why MkII:
Since their release, word has spread on the quality and value found in the original JBL 3 Series, resulting in wide adoption from hobbyists to high-end professionals working in music, film, post, and broadcast production worldwide. With such an obvious hit, you might ask, "Why update now?" On every project at JBL, there's always a handful of features or improvements that the engineering team can't squeeze in before going to production. 3 Series was no different. When the opportunity presented itself, we decided to make those final improvements to the transducers, add a frequently-requested feature, and apply the latest manufacturing learnings. The result - a new edition of this popular studio monitor that retains the best qualities of the original, but now looks better, sounds better, and provides transparent sound in even more production environments.

Patented Image Control Waveguide:
Reveal impressive detail, ambience and depth in your mixes thanks to the ground-breaking JBL Image Control Waveguide. Originally developed for JBL's flagship M2 Master Reference Monitor, this patented innovation ensures an acoustically seamless transition between the low- and high-frequency transducers and provides an immersive soundstage with precise imaging. Offering a broad sweet spot and neutral frequency response, JBL 306P MkII delivers a crystal-clear representation of your mix - revealing subtle details, even when listening off-axis.

Your Mix is Only as Good as Your Monitors:
To help you make the best mix decisions, JBL equipped the 306P MkII with acclaimed 3 Series transducers that now perform even better. Hear deep, accurate and tightly controlled bass thanks to a long-throw 6.5" woofer and the patented JBL Slip Stream low-frequency port. Enjoy soaring, immaculately detailed highs via the woven-composite 1" Neodymium tweeter. JBL engineers took things to the next level with faster HF transient response through fine-tuned ferrofluid damping, and greater low frequency linearity and lower harmonic distortion courtesy of an enhanced woofer design. The result is a studio monitor you can trust - with unmatched peak handling, stunning dynamics and neutral frequency response that's unbeatable in its class.

Big Sound Out of the Box:
JBL 306P MkII is ready for the most demanding production styles right out of the box. Dual integrated Class D power amplifiers, custom designed by JBL for each transducer, give you generous dynamic range for any project. From music production and podcasting to cinematic sound design or daily vlogging, enjoy the output and power you need to hear exceptional detail at any volume - even at peak SPLs. Simply plug in, power on, and start creating.

Tailored Sound to Fit Your Studio:
The dimensions and acoustics of a room can have a major effect on sonic accuracy, and that's why JBL 306P MkII lets you adjust the response to fit your studio. The new Boundary EQ attenuates the low-end boost that can occur when you place monitors directly on the desktop or near walls. The 3-position HF Trim switch allows you to adjust the high-frequency response of the 306P MkII to tailor it to room acoustics or personal tastes.

Flexible Connectivity:
Offering both balanced XLR and 1/4" TRS inputs, and adjustable +4dBu/-10dBV input sensitivity, the 306P MkII offers flexible, professional connectivity options to provide easy setup while maintaining your signal integrity.

70 Years of Expertise:
The design of the 306P MkII leverages over 70 years of JBL acoustic expertise to create a refined studio monitor at an outstanding value. While other manufacturers use off-the-shelf components and make subjective decisions about the sound, JBL builds speakers that squeeze every ounce of performance from each component to deliver efficient, accurate sound reproduction. 306P MkII is designed to JBL's Linear Spatial Reference criteria - a series of 72 individual measurements taken 360 degrees around the speaker to ensure a faithful reproduction of your mix, whatever your listening environment.

JBL Professional studio monitors are designed for reliable performance, even when projects push your gear to the limit. Before being approved for production, 3 Series monitors must first pass JBL's strenuous Power Test. Each model is required to perform flawlessly at maximum volume for an unheard-of 100 hours - without failure.

Kali Audio LP-6 v2 6.5" Powered Studio Monitor (single, black)
Cat: 852406 Rel: 25 Nov 21

Lone Pine 6.5" black powered studio monitor, single: 2-way, 6.5" woofer & 80 Watts of power
Notes: Performance

Transparency. Clarity. Accuracy.

Kali Audio's Lone Pine Series studio monitors are designed to allow you to hear every detail that's happening in your mix.

This starts with an exceptionally accurate frequency response. Whatever is present on your mix is what you'll hear in these monitors. Nothing is boosted or suppressed to cover flaws or try to sound more pleasing.

With the LP-6 and LP-8, you can mix with more confidence, and you can also be assured that your mix will translate as best as possible to whatever systems your audience is using.

The 2nd Wave goes even further, utilizing a more robust DSP for an even flatter frequency response on the top end.

LP-6:
80W Class D Power
39 Hz Lower Frequency Response
< 3% System THD 94 dB @ 1M
115 dB Max SPL

Features

3-D Imaging Waveguide
Hear three dimensional sound from a stereo pair of speakers.
Dual-Layer Voice Coil
Large diameter voice coil allows for low distortion and high dynamic range.
Low Noise Port Tube
Precisely engineered using airflow

Accuracy
The LPs have always been praised for their accuracy, and we're pleased to share that the 2nd Wave versions realize slight but noticeable improvements in that regard, particularly on the top end.

Power

Kali Audio defines a listening distance as the maximum distance at which the speakers can play continuously at 85 dB while maintaining 20 dB dynamic headroom.

This means that anywhere within that listening distance, you can listen for long periods of time at reference volume, and momentary peaks such as bass drops or explosion effects will come through clearly and with minimal distortion. The LP-6 has enough output for most 1-2 person setups, and the LP-8 can handle larger setups easily. Full output specifications, along with maximum listening distances, can be found in the user's manual.

Bass on the LP-Series monitors is delivered by larger magnets and larger voice coils than any comparable speakers on the market. This gives you more accurate bass response that extends lower, so you can dial in exactly the low end sound you need. Bass response is not boosted or overhyped, but you can be sure that you're hearing the bass that you have on the track.

Protective limiters prevent harmful voltage from ever reaching the drivers, so there is no risk of blowing these speakers. These have been updated for the 2nd Wave, allowing for 3 dB higher output.

Both models use 40W for the 1" soft dome tweeter. The LP-6 uses 40W for the 6.5-Inch woofer, and the LP-8 uses 60W for the 8-Inch woofer.

Ease of use

Boundary EQ Control

A speaker's given position in a space can drastically change it's frequency response. A speaker placed against a wall or on a desk will sound very different than a speaker placed on a stand, even in a well-treated space. Hard surfaces like walls, desk tops, and recording consoles can change the low end frequency response of the monitor, and degrade the overall clarity of the sound.

Happily, most of the common positions are fairly predictable and easily corrected.

Kali's team did the Boundary EQ tuning at The Village Studios in Los Angeles, and came up with boundary compensation EQ settings to help you get the optimum sound for where you need to put your speakers. For the 2nd Wave, the boundary EQs have been updated for using the speakers on a desk with monitor stands.

Combined with the LF and HF trims, this will ensure that the speakers sound their best no matter what room you're mixing in, or where the speakers are placed.

Easy Connections

The LP-6 and LP-8 both feature balanced XLR and TRS inputs, and an unbalanced RCA input.

The RCA input can be set to -10 dBu sensitivity when you're using consumer devices like a laptop or smartphone's headphone jack.

Technology

3-D Imaging Waveguide

The waveguide on the Lone Pine Series studio monitors ensures that the directivity of the loudspeaker is smooth throughout its frequency response. What's more: it's calibrated so that the sound power of the loudspeaker helps you to perceive sound accurately.

In practical terms, what this means is that you're hearing spatial details in the recording that allow your brain to place elements of the recording in the space around you. This gives the speakers a more natural, lifelike feel that exposes more of the detail of the material that you're working on. This level of detail makes it easier to make critical decisions, as well as making these monitors pleasurable to mix on and listen to in general.

Low Noise Port Tube

A port has been added to the front of the LP-Series studio monitors, so that they could be used in small spaces where they'd be placed against walls. To prevent noise from the front port that distracts from the accuracy of the speaker, this special front port that doesn't make noise has been developed.

Treat yourself to some extra bass. CR-X monitors have polypropylene woofers and rear-firing ports for tight bass response, but if you really want to shake the block, add the CR8S-XBT. The matching subwoofer is driven by a 200W amplifier and 8" high-output woofer for a deep low-end punch.

Cut the cord

In addition to Mackie's standard inputs, CR5-XBT monitors feature Bluetooth connectivity to make it easy to listen to music instantly, without a mess of extra wires. Just hold down the Running Man icon and let the Bluetooth magic do the rest.

Monkey Banana Turbo 4 Active Near Field Studio Monitor (single, black)
Cat: 502326 Rel: 10 Sep 13

Active, nearfield studio monitor with 4" polypropylene/ceramic membrane woofer and 1" silk dome tweeter
Notes: The Turbo Series is not only stylish in appearance, but also employs serious engineering to achieve the best acoustic performance. The Bass-reflex acoustic design combines maximum efficiency and optimal bass extension. The MDF material ensures proper damping of vibrations from the drivers. All this is done behind a sophisticated industrial design utilising modern fashion elements.

In order to achieve this perfect combination of sound quality and appearance, the Turbo series enclosures were designed as a non-regular hexagon. After careful calculation and experiment, we found that the non-regular hexagonal structure is most effective in minimising standing waves inside the enclosure. We chose high quality MDF for the enclosure to not only damp out unwanted resonances, but to ensure a solid and inert structure to mount our drivers to. All internal surfaces are lined with blended wool to further damp the structure of the cabinet.

Using high quality pure silk from Europe for the tweeters, the patented dome shape perfectly articulates the high frequencies out past 20 kHz. It is designed to have a low resonance (for a low crossover point) but also high power handling.

Using patented technology from the Aviation industry, the PP carbon fiber / ceramic composite cone for the woofer provides a perfect balance between strength and weight. This lightweight yet strong cone ensures an extremely fast transient response from bass notes all the way through to the midrange.

The custom made amplifier design uses only professional grade multi layer PC boards (compared with the single sided PC boards used in other speakers). This ensures that the circuitry and components have better reliability and better performance, which in the end means higher fidelity sound.

Really great value monitors from PreSonus, packing a punch from 4.5-inch woofers despite their compact overall dimensions. Bluetooth connectivity for added versatility.

This monitor comes with free Studio One Prime and Studio Magic plug-ins.

Supplier's notes:
PreSonus Eris-series studio monitors are used worldwide by audio engineers who need to hear every detail of their recordings. Ideal for gaming and home video production, the Eris E4.5 BT employs the same technology as the larger Eris models to deliver studio-quality sound, with a smooth and accurate frequency response. Presonus Eris E44 2-Way 5" MTM Nearfield Studio Monitor (single, black)
Cat: 590926 Rel: 23 Dec 15

High-definition 2-wy 2X4.5" MTM near field studio monitor.
Notes: This monitor comes with free Studio One Prime and Studio Magic plug-ins.

The Eris E44 and E66 deliver an expanded and highly accurate frequency response and the widest stereo field available in their class. Their nested Midwoofer-Tweeter-Midwoofer (MTM, also known as "D'Appolito") configuration offers improved off-axis response and spatial resolution. The result is a more consistent listening experience, smoother frequency response, and an ultra-wide, detailed stereo soundstage.

Conventional 2-way designs can cause significant early reflections from their surrounding environment. The E44 and E66 overcome this by positioning a 1.25", silk dome high-frequency driver between two 4.5" (E44) or 6.5" (E66) midrange drivers. The two smaller woofers work in parallel to partially contain the dispersion of the tweeter, minimizing phase displacement. The result is incredibly detailed stereo imaging.

Both the E44 and the E66 feature two midrange drivers that cover the same frequency range. The drivers are placed so that their acoustic centers are less than one wavelength apart for any of the frequencies they reproduce; as a result, the combined signal of both drivers propagates forward like a single waveform. This makes the comparatively small midrange drivers in the E44 and E66 behave like a single, larger driver. This mutual coupling provides a highly dynamic output in a compact footprint.

Sound waves radiating from the two components in a conventional speaker design can interfere with one another, creating peaks at some frequencies and dips at others, and these will vary depending on where the listener is relative to the speaker. In an MTM configuration, component interference, and the sonic inconsistencies that go with it, are minimized. This affords listeners an ultra-wide sweet spot and a more consistent listening experience on- and off-axis.

The E44 and E66 utilize custom-woven Kevlar low-frequency drivers. This provides a more constant dispersion pattern throughout the frequency range, resulting in less time-smeared audio and cleaner overall sound. The weave and nature of the dual Kevlar woofers also helps break up reflected energy, so fewer delayed reflections reach the listener's ear. In conjunction with the MTM configuration, this works to create a transparent, cohesive sound.

Many MTM configurations must be arrayed vertically, rather than horizontally, because vertical placement provides a clear, interference-free midrange and treble reproduction to either side, expanding the sweet spot. By bringing the midrange drivers closer together and raising the high-frequency driver, the E44 and E66 are able to perform optimally in both orientations. So, like all Eris speakers, the E44 and E66 let you position your speaker the way that works best for you.

Today's music producers deal with a wide variety of musical genres and often work in more than one location. That's why Eris-series studio monitors offer extensive acoustic tuning controls. The three-position Acoustic Space switch helps to compensate for the boundary bass boost that can occur when a monitor is placed in a corner or near a wall. High and Mid controls help to further mitigate room anomalies. A Low Cutoff filter makes it easy to integrate a Temblor subwoofer into your monitor setup.

With three different types of audio inputs, it's easy to feed audio to your Eris monitors from a mixer, an interface, a media player, or almost any other line-level source. The Eris E44 and E66 provide balanced XLR, balanced 1/4" TRS, and unbalanced RCA line-level inputs. With this selection, you'll have no problem hooking your Eris speakers up with virtually any line-level source.

Like all PreSonus studio monitors, the Eris E44 and E66 offer consistent, accurate listening. The ultra-wide stereo image afforded by their MTM design, makes them an ideal solution for any one who requires best-in-class spatial resolution. Like the rest of the Eris studio monitors, the E44 and E66 set a new standard for affordable studio monitors.

Presonus Eris E5 Studio Monitors (pair)
Cat: 499570 Rel: 01 Jan 90

Pair of front ported studio monitors with 5.25" drivers and 1" tweeters
Notes: This monitor comes with free Studio One Prime and Studio Magic plug-ins.

The Eris E5 2 way active 5.25" studio monitor from PreSonus delivers an accurate response with tight bass and a clear upper end. The Kevlar low frequency transducers, low-mass silk-dome tweeters and responsive Class AB amplification combine with acoustic-adjustment controls to create a versatile and adaptable listening system.

The E5 begins with a front-ported enclosure made of vinyl-laminated MDF. It features a 5.25" Kevlar low-frequency driver mated with a 45W, Class AB amplifier. For the highs, the Eris employs a 1" silk-dome tweeter powered by a 35W, Class AB amplifier. The E5 outputs a clean 102 dB peak SPL. Its frequency response is rated at 64Hz to 22kHz.

The Eris E5 provides a balanced XLR, a balanced 14" TRS, and an unbalanced RCA line-level input. Once you're plugged in, set the input gain and you're ready to go.

The Eris provides 3-EQ controls in its acoustic tuning section: high, mid, and low cutoff. These controls enable you to fine-tune the monitors to your space. The low control also is useful when using the E5 with a subwoofer.

The High control is a shelving filter that boosts or cuts all frequencies above 4.5kHz by as much as 6dB. The mid control is a mid-frequency peak filter that boosts or cuts frequencies centered at 1kHz and extending about one octave above and below that frequency. The low cutoff control rolls off frequencies below either 80 or 100Hz at a slope of 12dB/octave. This control is especially useful if you also have a connected subwoofer.

A 3-position acoustic space switch controls a second-order, low shelving filter that cuts frequencies below 800Hz by either 2 or 4dB to compensate for the boundary bass boost that occurs in close proximity to walls or corners.

The RF shielding protects against radio frequencies that could be introduced to the signal and become audible. The Eris monitors also provide overheat protection, current-output limiting and subsonic protection. The Soft startup amplifiers prevent damaging pops from sounding through the speakers when you power them up.

Presonus R65 AMT Studio Monitor (single)
Cat: 590929 Rel: 18 Feb 16

2 way active studio monitor with 6.5" woven kevlar driver and a choice of XLR, 1/4" jack & RCA inputs
Notes: This monitor comes with free Studio One Prime and Studio Magic plug-ins.

Superior transient response:
In order to dampen resonance peaks at higher frequencies, conventional dome tweeters are injected with fluid to raise their mass, sacrificing transient response time. By contrast, the custom-designed AMT tweeter in the R65 uses an incredibly thin, folded Kapton membrane (< 0.01 mm) with an inlayed aluminum circuit functioning as the voice coil, allowing the tweeter to move at the same instant as the electric current. The resulting reactive response time provides marked clarity and superior transient reproduction.

Wide, consistent stereo image:
An unfolded AMT tweeter diaphragm provides 8 to 13 times the projection area of a traditional 1-inch dome tweeter, enabling R65 monitors to provide a much wider stereo soundstage than traditional designs. At the same time, the R65 provides a very limited vertical dispersion, which helps to reduce reflections from the ceiling and desktop that can cause phase coherence issues. Because it's less subject to room-anomaly interference, the R65 reacts predictably and sounds consistent from room to room.

Transparent sound:
The R65 utilizes a 6.5-inch, custom-coated, woven Kevlar low-frequency driver. This rigid cone maintains a more consistent dispersion pattern across its frequency rtesponse range. Biamped and driven by a 150W Class D amplifierimaking the R series some of the most powerful monitors in their categoryithese monitors deliver an open, clear, and less fatiguing listening experience.

Have it your way:
You can customize the R65 in several ways. It's available with black or blue faceplates to fit your studio decor. With balanced XLR, balanced 1/4" TRS, and unbalanced RCA line-level inputs, it's easy to feed audio to your R65 monitors from a mixer, an interface, a media player, or almost any other line-level source. And R series monitors offer user-adjustable contour features for optimizing the monitors for your mixing space. This enables full integration into any studio environment.

Accuracy defined:
The R65's AMT monitor design provides lifelike sonic reproduction that will allow you to hear the room in your recordings. Its transparent sound and responsive transient reproduction makes it an ideal solution for anyone who is mixing high-resolution audio. Hear the R65 at your favorite PreSonus dealer.

Yamaha HS5 5" Powered Studio Monitor (single, black)
Cat: 491991 Rel: 22 May 13

Bass reflex nearfield studio monitor with 5" cone woofer and 1" dome tweeter
Notes: The babies of the Yamaha HS range pack a bigger punch than their size might suggest. A good entry-level option for smaller studios. Clear, revealing monitors at a friendly price.

Supplier's notes:
The Yamaha HS5 is a new addition to Yamaha's HS series of active monitors, influenced by the critically acclaimed and highly sought after NS-10 studio monitor speakers.

The Yamaha HS5 Active Studio Monitor features biamped full range 2 way speakers rated at 45W and 25W and has been developed by Yamaha to offer an exceptionally flat and accurate frequency response for use in music production and composition as well as home project studios. The HS5 monitors' design has been informed by the tradition of the legendary NS10M monitors.

Yamaha HS5 speakers feature a low resonance bass reflex enclosure which improves the rigidity of the overall speaker, and less cabinet resonance means that the signal remains clear and uncoloured. This is very important in getting an accurate mix which translates across all systems.

Port noise has also been audibly reduced by up to 6dB using the new Yamaha proprietary technology in the HS5 studio monitors, which also helps to deliver a clean and precise signal. The HS5 is equipped with XLR and TRS jack connectors as well as room control and hi trim response controls.

Yamaha HS7 6.5" Powered Nearfield Studio Monitor (black, single) (B-STOCK)
Cat: 923507 Rel: 17 Jun 13

B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order
Notes: ***B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order***

Loosely inspired by the look of the classic NS10 studio monitors, Yamaha's HS range offers much more modern sound. Punchy low end and clear highs from this 6.5-inch model.

Supplier's notes:
This second generation of 'HS' nearfield reference monitors, like their predecessors, share the same design philosophy as the legendary NS-10M studio monitors - Providing accurate signal reproduction and superior sonic performance.

The Yamaha HS7 employ a new, highly efficient tweeter providing an extended high frequency range up to 30KHz. The matching HS8S 150W powered subwoofer provides an extend bass when a well defined bottom end is required.

A low resonance enclosure built using a three way mitre joint technique ensures that the corners of the speaker are firmly anchored leading to dramatically improved durability and the elimination of unwanted resonances that can colour the original sound. Yamaha's 'Vortex Sound Control' technology is deployed to decrease unwanted airflows around the speaker ports. This in turn reduces audible noise by up to 6dB.

Supplier notes:
Ever since the 1970's the iconic white woofer and signature sound of Yamaha's nearfield reference monitors have become a genuine industry standard for a reason - their accuracy. Yamaha MSP3A Studio Monitor Speaker (single)
Cat: 811574 Rel: 15 Apr 21

Compact powered reference monitors
Notes: Updated version of the hugely popular MSP3, now with Yamaha's Twisted Flare Port technology for improved low-end response. Small design with big sound thanks to 4-inch woofer and precise dome tweeter.

Supplier's Notes:
MSP3A powered monitor speaker provides faithful sound reproduction in a compact form

The MSP3, a compact reference monitor speaker loved for many years, has been renewed as the MSP3A. This new reference monitor is the first in this series to include our Twisted Flare Port technology and provides an even clearer and tighter low-end while also realizing faithful sound reproduction.

The built-in 22W power amplifier is optimized for the speaker unit, which comprises a 10 cm (4") woofer and a 2.2 cm (.87") tweeter, to achieve a clear and natural reference sound.

The cabinet features a refined, simple design and weighs a mere 3.6 kilograms (7.9 pounds), making it easy to reposition and carry to different locations. Just like its predecessor, this monitor has multiple input connectors and controls, and is compatible with a variety of optional brackets, making it useful for a wide range of uses. These include serious audio and music monitoring in settings from small-scale studios to broadcast and post-production suites, as well as monitoring audio from digital musical instruments and ICT devices, and surround sound playback.

Twisted Flare Port technology, which is included in the MSP3A for the first time in this series, is an aerodynamic sound control technology that we at Yamaha have created by leveraging our extensive subwoofer development experience. Using it, we apply aerodynamic sound analysis and flow visualization measurement technologies to pinpoint and control noise generation mechanisms. Noise-generating air flow turbulence at both ends of the port is suppressed by changing how the port widens from input to output and adding a twist to it. Suppressing turbulence reduces bothersome muddiness in the sound and lowers the amount of noise generated at the port ends. This strengthens the connection between the sound and main speaker and delivers clear, tight low frequencies along with pitch and rhythm.

Compared to the air turbulence generated by the "ordinary port" shown in pink on the left, turbulence is reduced and air flows smoothly through the Twisted Flare Port shown in blue on the right.

Featuring a 22-watt built-in amplifier and Twisted Flare Port for clearer bass, the MSP3A reference monitor produces sound that is faithful to the original. With a variety of inputs, controls and optional support brackets, the MSP3A is ideal for small studios, post-production, monitoring electronic instruments and surround reproduction.
