Behringer C2 Matched Studio Condenser Microphones (condenser microphones (matched pair))
Cat: 493876 Rel: 18 Jul 13

2 matched studio condenser microphones
Notes: Behringer's C 2 microphones are built to capture the performance of a choir, piano or any other vocal or acoustic sound source to provide a beautiful true to life sound. Sold in perfectly matched pairs, these condenser mics are outstanding in both live and studio applications.

A condenser mic is the ideal choice for capturing vocals or acoustic instruments, either in live or recording settings. By their very nature, condenser microphones are much more sensitive than dynamic microphones, enabling them to pick up even the subtlest of signals. Thanks to their cardioid (heart shaped) pattern, Behringer's C 2 microphones pick up your source signal while rejecting off axis sounds that can ruin an otherwise perfect recording.

Another difference between condenser and dynamic mics is they contain active circuitry that requires phantom power (+48 V) for operation. You can power them from any phantom power equipped mixer.

Every stitch of these mics is designed to deliver beautiful sound. Beginning with the gold plated 3 pin XLR connector, you get the highest signal integrity.

Once connected to your system, you'll notice these twin pro caliber microphones have a 4dB boost in the 1KHz - 8KHz range. For those of you new to condenser mics, this basically means you'll get a slightly brighter sound that will give the perfect shape to cymbals and overhead miking. Acoustic pianos and choirs also benefit greatly from this type of frequency response.

The cardioid pickup pattern provides unparalleled sound source separation and feedback rejection. C 2 mics contain ultra low noise transformerless FET input circuitry that can handle extreme dynamics with a maximum sound pressure level of 136dB. So even if the featured performer at your next recording session or live show happens to be a revved up jet engine, this workhorse mic will not distort!

Behringer's C 2 mics also feature a low frequency rolloff switch to eliminate infrasonics (mic handling noise, sound created by creaky stages), as well as a switchable -10dB input pad to accommodate hot signals, such as a really loud vocalist or that overzealous cellist.

Dual diaphragm studio condenser microphone
Notes: The C3 is an affordable, high-quality way to put this essential studio tool to work for you. It has three selectable pickup patterns: omnidirectional for capturing sound equally on all sides; cardioid for picking up your source signal while rejecting off-axis sounds; and figure-eight for capturing sound both behind and in front of the mic, but not all the way around. With its excellent transducer and gold-plated XLR output, the C3 is very neutral-sounding and truly delivers on the promise of noise-free transmission.

The C3 is built to be your go-to condenser mic for years to come. Its tough, die-cast body can withstand all the rigors of bleary-eyed late-night recording marathons. And with its rugged foam-padded carrying case, it travels in safety and style. A swivel stand mount is also included so it can be affixed to your studio's mic stands.

Sold in perfectly matched pairs, these outstanding condenser mics are especially great for live applications because their non-reflective finish eliminates unwanted glare caused by stage lighting.

Every stitch of these mics is designed to deliver beautiful sound. Beginning with the gold-plated 3-pin XLR connector, you get the highest signal integrity. Once they are connected to your sound system, you'll notice these twin pro-caliber microphones have exceptional frequency response (an average boost of 4dB between 1kHz- 8kHz). For those of you who are new to condenser mics, this basically means you'll get a slightly brighter sound that will give the perfect shape to cymbals and overhead miking. Acoustic pianos and choirs will also benefit greatly from this frequency response. The cardioid pickup pattern provides unparalleled sound source separation and feedback rejection. Cardioid microphone for recording acoustic instruments
Notes: The KM184 (cardioid) in particular has become the classic high-quality miniature microphone.

The slender shape and transmission characteristics described here make the KM 184 especially suitable for a very wide range of tasks in the radio and television sector. It is extremely quiet (16 dB A-weighted self-noise), making it excellent for capturing the subtle nuances of acoustic guitar and orchestral performances . The KM 184 microphone is the successor of the well proven the KM 84, which has been used since the seventies worldwide with great success.

Although the KM184 has the same capsule as the KM84, the microphone differs slightly on the 0 frequency response: The KM 184 has a gentle rise at about 9 kHz, a characteristic that was introduced very successfully with the KM140. The result is a tonal balance that is fresher and livelier when compared to the KM84 with its flat frequency response in that band. This difference was achieved with just a slight change of the capsule's rear opening, and is not due to resonances. Compared to the KM84 the dynamic range of the KM184 increased by 21 dB mainly through the reduction of self- noise level to only 25 dB (CCIR) and an increased sound pressure handling capability of up to 138 dB. The microphone operates without any problems, even if the input of following equipment happens to be unbalanced, for example as in some DAT/CF recorders. The output of the KM184, as in all Neumann microphones, is balanced and phantom (48V) powered.

The KM184 is a good choice for all users who look for a high-quality miniature microphone, but do not need the complex, modular KM 100 system, which continues to be part of the Neumann product range. The mechanical construction was simplified for this model, for example, capsule and output stage cannot be separated from each other. For this reason the KM184 is an economical alternative without giving up the electroacoustic features the users expect from Neumann microphones.

three compact miniature microphones with varying polar patterns
Notes: The KM 184 (cardioid) in particular has become the classic high-quality miniature microphone. Now also available in attractive stereo sets, with cardioid, hypercardioid or omni directional characteristics.

The "Series 180" consists of three compact miniature microphones with patterns that satisfy the demands of all common studio applications.

Because of its optimised mechanical construction and conscious omission of modularity, which is unnecessary in many cases, the "Series 180" is predestined for economy-minded production and home recording studios.

Their slender shapes and the transmission characteristics described below make the "Series 180" especially suitable for a very wide range of tasks in the radio and television sector.

Although the KM 184 has the same capsule as the KM 84, the microphone differs slightly on the 0- frequency response: The KM 184 has a gentle rise at about 9 kHz, a characteristic that was introduced very successfully with the KM 140. The result is a tonal balance that is fresher and livelier when compared to the KM 84 with its flat frequency response in that band.

This difference was achieved with just a slight change of the capsule's rear opening, and is not due to resonances.

The "Series 180" microphones have the same transformerless circuitry as is used in the KM 100 system, resulting in excellent technical specifications:

Compared to the KM 84 the dynamic range of the KM 184 increased by 24 dB mainly through the reduction of self-noise level to only 22 dB (CCIR) and an increased sound pressure handlingcapability of up to 138 dB.

The microphones operate without any problems, even if the input of following equipment happens to be unbalanced, for example as in some DAT recorders.

The output of the "Series 180", as in all Neumann microphones, is balanced and phantom (48V) powered.

The "Series 180" is a good choice for all users who look for a high-quality miniature microphone, but do not need the complex, modular KM 100 system, which continues to be part of the Neumann product range.

The mechanical construction was simplified, for example, capsule and output stage cannot be separated from each other. For this reason the "Series 180" is an economical alternative without giving up the electroacoustic features the users expect from Neumann microphones.

Precision reference microphone
Notes: The PRM1 Precision Reference Microphone is a special type of microphone that provides an accurate reproduction of a room's sound characteristics for use with audio-analysis tools. It employs a 1/4", pre-polarized electret-condenser capsule with an omnidirectional polar pattern, which allows the microphone to measure reflections, as well as direct signals up to 132 dB SPL. The PRM1 has an all-metal chassis and comes with a clip, foam windscreen, and hard case.

What makes the PRM1 different from most mics?

Unlike mics you use for recording and live sound, the PRM1 has a narrow dynamic range, since it is intended to receive test frequencies, such as pink noise, at a fixed level. As a result, it is not recommended for recording or performance - but it's the right mic for tuning a sound system to perform accurately in a venue. The PRM1 exhibits linear ("flat") frequency response between 20 Hz and 20 kHz, meaning it captures all frequencies equally within that range. Since it neither boosts nor cuts frequencies, it doesn't colour the sound, making it ideal for measuring what a room or speaker is doing to a sound system's outgoing signal.

Designed for use with Smaart and other audio analysis tools.

While the PRM1 can be used for a variety of measurement applications, such as MLSSA, Spectrafoo, and TEF, it is especially recommended for use with the Smaart System Check wizards that are integrated into PreSonus UC Surface control software for StudioLive AI and StudioLive RM mixers. With this combination, you can have a complete, powerful, and affordable, audio-analysis and correction system.

Condenser microphone with detachable capsule, for recording instruments, drums, percussion and vocals
Notes: The Rode NT6 compact microphone is specifically designed for difficult mounting applications where the highest quality audio is required. Although clearly relevant to instrument miking, the NT6 is extremely well suited to any situation where an unobtrusive but powerful microphone is required.

Featuring a 1/2" cardioid condenser capsule, the NT6 capsule head measures 45mm (1.8") in length and weighs only 42gm (1.5oz). An all-metal, multi-position mounting ring provides 180 degree of vertical rotation, while the microphone head is connected to the body via a custom 3m (10') shielded Kevlarr reinforced cable.

The microphone body incorporates both a high-pass filter and pad setting. The high-pass filter can be introduced to cut vibration, rumble and undesired sounds sources under 80Hz, while the pad offers a -10 dB level attenuation, useful when recording louder sound sources.

The NT6's small form factor make it an ideal small diaphragm cardioid microphone for use in the mid-side (M/S) stereo array, in combination with a figure-8 large diaphragm microphone such as the NT2-A, NT2000 or K2.

The Rode NT6 compact condenser microphone is covered by Rode microphones' industry leading 10 year warranty.

Set of four microphones optimized for recording drums
Notes: TM-DRUMS is a set of four microphones tailored for getting a good drum sound with ease using a Tascam multi-track recorder or audio interface with DAW software. Especially designed for beginners who cannot afford separate mics for each and every part of the drum kit, this mic set meets the minimum requirements for multi-microphone recordings and can even be handled by people who are not yet so familiar with creating a good sounding mix with many sources.

TM-DRUMS comprises of one dynamic mic designed for the bass or kick drum, another dynamic mic designed for the snare, and two condenser mics that can be used for hi-hat, toms and cymbals. Each of the three mic types has its own special characteristics to enhance the instrument it was made for.

The TM-50DB's frequency response delivers a thick bass thump with the right amount of punch, while the TM-50DS enhances the special character of the snare drum with attack and clarity. The TM-50C microphone can be used as an overhead microphone to capture the sound of your hi-hat and cymbals. As a condenser microphone, it handles high sound pressure levels and captures a wide frequency range. Since there are two of these in the set, you can also use that pair to easily create a stereo recording of the entire drum kit, supported by the two mics for kick and snare drum.

Creating a great-sounding drum sound is not hard to accomplish. With two overhead microphones and separate mics for the kick drum and snare drum, you'll get a wide stereo image with clear highs. Start with the overheads and try out different positions until you find that toms, cymbals and hi-hat build a balanced base sound. Then, add a thick kick drum and a well-defined snare drum to that base sound with their separate mics.

If a clear hi-hat is important to your music, you can emphasize it by placing one of the TM-50C over the hi-hat and use the second TM-50C as overhead on the other end of your drum kit. By going this way, you will have more influence on the basic instruments: kick, snare, and hi-hat. You will certainly find a good position for the overhead mic where it can capture the rest of your kit. This approach does not deliver a stereo image like with two overheads but it still gives you some amount of width when panning the hi-hat to one side and the overhead to the other side.

Tascam TM-80 Once you created your basic drum sound and you're familiar with multi-microphone recording, it is easy to add more mics. Is your drum kit located in a room with a nice ambient sound? Why not add that room ambience to make your sound more natural?
