The stylus is the single most important point of contact between your records and the rest of your hi-fi system, converting the grooves into electrical signals via your cartridge. Styluses – also known as styli or sometimes needles – wear out with use and can be damaged, which means it’s often essential to replace the stylus on your cartridge. A worn stylus is also very likely to damage your records permanently, harming the sound quality even further. Audiophile brands including Audio-Technica, Goldring and Nagaoka offer replacement styluses for their own cartridges, while third-party brands such as Kyowa and Tonar offer other options. Replacement is a simple process of removing the old stylus and attaching the new one, taking just a few seconds to carry out but ensuring that your turntable delivers optimal performance and getting the best sound from your vinyl.

Notes: 'Nude' super-elliptical stylus of just 7.6 x 18 microns (0.3 x 0.7 mil), cut and polished from a single homogeneous piece of diamond. This makes for a lower effective tip mass of improved rigidity, which in turn means its ability to retrieve high-frequency detail is dramatically improved when compared to the 'bonded' elliptical stylus alternative. It's far less likely to 'mis-track' or overshoot when tracing high-frequency groove modulations, and because of its finely polished 7.6-micron profile it can more effectively fit into closely packed inner grooves. Lowerdistortion, improved transient response and a flat frequency response all contribute to superior fidelity when compared to any price-comparable alternative.
