Our renewed VM cartridges have 7 styli and 3 types of bodies to choose from. Not only is it not necessary to buy an entirely new cartridge, but you can also enjoy the experience of upgrading your stylus or trying a new cartridge/stylus combination.

The Goldring philosophy is to promote the accurate reproduction of the original recording, maintaining the creative nuances, musicality and rhythm the artist intended you to hear. The E Series is designed to capture this experience when used with all medium to high mass tonearms found on the majority of budget to medium priced turntables. This is achieved through the use of our Magnetic Duplex Technology and Goldring Expert Adjustment.

The E2 cartridge, the middle in the range, features the same spherical stylus profile as the E1 but with the additional benefit of an upgraded aluminium cantilever. This is both stiff and light weight allowing the stylus to more accurately trace medium to high frequencies offering more detail and reducing distortion and mis-tracking during loud passages.

Magnetic Duplex Technology:

All cartridges in the range feature Magnetic Duplex Technology - a 'dual magnet' generator assembly which more accurately traces the record groove providing better stereo separation and a more involving and musical sound stage.

Expert Adjustment:

The E-series cartridges have been designed to allow micro-adjustments to be made during production using a special adjustment screw. This means the cartridge can be safely installed in a typical turntable because the angle that the stylus makes with the record surface has been pre-set. The result is an optimised channel balance with zero degrees of horizontal tracking adjustment required. This ensures a consistent and reassuring performance for the life of the product.

Stylus/Cantilever:

Featuring spherical styli with a choice of cantilevers, the E1 and E2 models are ideal as an upgrade to any budget, pre-fitted or obsolete cartridge.

The E3 model with its refined super elliptical stylus is a worthwhile upgrade for those wishing to squeeze even more information and detail from the record groove.

Notes: The Grado Prestige 78C Replacement Stylus is designed to fit the Grado Prestige 78C MM Phono Cartridge - a direct replacement when your stylus is worn, rather than replacing the whole cartridge. Grado cartridges generally last many hours until the stylus needs replacing. An indication of wear is a "duller" sound.

Simply remove your current stylus by carefully pulling it away from the cartridge and replace it with the replacement.

Prestige Series

The Prestige series of cartridges are designed for high output and excellent stability under severe use. A considerable tip mass reduction results in a frequency response to 50 kHz and beyond and tracking forces from 1-2 grams. They are acclaimed by experts as virtually the finest pickups in the world at their price. All styli in the Prestige series are user replaceable.

Mono Cartridge

Grado strives to deliver products that will fit all the needs of the analogue enthusiast. To this end, Grado offers two new cartridge models in a mono version. The ME+, like the MC+, is mounted with an elliptical diamond.

Optimised Transmission Line

Prestige model ME+ uses a modified four piece OTL cantilever technology, oxygen free wire in the coils and a specially designed, high polished, elliptical diamond mounted in a brass bushing. This provides an ideal transfer of the signal from point to point, stylus to cantilever to magnet to coils, etc achieved by eliminating resonance at each of these key junctions. The transmission line cantilever consists of separate sections that are telescoped into each other.

All sections are made of different alloys, some sections hollow, other sections solid. These sections are bonded together with materials that act as dampers and are coated with a black proprietary material which controls and absorbs resonances that travel on the surface of the cantilever. The OTL stylus/cantilever design will make your records sound quieter, improve the height, width, and depth of the soundstage and offer more detail than previously obtainable.

Pivoted-Fixed Axial

This design feature is basically quite simple. The "OTL" cantilever shaft is brought to a fixed axial pivot that supports the entire cantilever assembly. A miniature element attached to the end of the cantilever is allowed to move freely within the lines of flux of a stationary magnet and coil structure.

This system of support is mechanically more accurate (more linear) than conventional "teeter-totter" designs that utilize an iron armature to balance the mass of the cantilever. The teeter-totter design is supported in the centre with a rubber doughnut mounting. The fixed axial design has a very low tip mass, which results in lower distortion, improved transient response, and longer record life.

Flux-Bridger Generator

The Flux-Bridger design uses four separate magnetic gaps that the miniature element of the cantilever bridges. The miniature element moves between opposing flux gaps creating an increase in flux in one gap while reducing it in the other. The four separate magnetic gaps create a highly efficient and perfectly balanced system. This design requires fewer coil turns than conventional designs.

The ME+ uses one of Grado's upgraded generating systems. All wooden body cartridges are available in mono version. Each individual cartridge manufactured by Grado is hand assembled and tested for frequency response, channel output, channel balance, phase linearity, inductance and resistance. This meticulous care in design and construction lavished on each Grado cartridge contributes to an unchallenged consistency of performance and guarantee of reliability.
