Lemon Lime EP
Cat: ED 020X. Rel: 16 Aug 17
Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee - "Moonlite" (6:27)
Duff Disco - "Always On My Mind" (6:38)
Buzz Compass - "U Deserve It" (6:01)
Get Down Edits - "Hey (Whats Happening)" (5:46)
Review: On this latest must-have missive, the Editorial crew has assembled an all-star cast of re-editors and house-loving disco rework merchants. Thrillingly, it contains a now rare outing from slo-mo specialist Duff Disco, whose atmospheric, beatdown style chugger "Always on My Mind" is undoubtedly one of the best things he's released in years. Props, too, to Irish disco-house specialists Get Down Edits, who weigh in with the warm and summery grooves of "Hey (What's Happening)". Elsewhere, Buzz Compass subtly beefs up and filters out a sleazy disco favourite on the constantly rising "U Deserve It", while Ed Wizard and Disco Double Dee get the party started in their inimitable style via a touch of disco/hip-hop fusion ("Moonlite").

Festival EP

Festival (Just Beginning) (7:40)
Two Man Sound (7:35)
Festival Drums (4:11)
Review: Waterford's favourite sons Get Down Edits return with their third round of crafty resplices here. First up, Southern Ireland's Darren 'Daz' Dalton and Martin Roche serve up some decent hooks with what sounds like a certain diggers delight on "Festival (Just Beginning)", while a handy dub version that works those sweltering polyrhythms on "Festival Drums" on the flip. The same infectious riff that Erick Morillo used a while back (on a certain handbag house classic) is also used to wonderful effect on "Two Man Sound" - this one is a respectful edit for serious disco DJs.

Feel The Fire
Play With You
Review: Get Down Edits continues to hold the crown as one of the most prolific editors with two more essential nu-disco funk jams. "Feel The Fire" is a cosmic, spaced out take on The Osmonds' "I,I,I" while "Play With You" turbo charges Carrie Lucas with an uptempo glitter-sprinkled groove with full emphasis on the tight, bright guitar riff. Both, like all his previous editions, rock. Get down tonight!

Funk Purpose Vol 3 Part 1
Cat: SMS 0161. Rel: 10 Mar 20
Get Down Edits - "Comin' At Ya" (6:50)
Monsieur Van Pratt - "UFO" (6:29)
Souldynamic - "Better" (6:26)
De Gama - "Groove On" (7:21)
Review: Italian label Samosa continues to deliver re-edits with "Funk Purpose". Volume three is every bit as strong as its predecessors, with a quartet of experienced re-editors offering up fresh reworks. Get Down Edits set the tone with "Comin' At Ya", a riotously beefy, tooled-up house revision of an urgent funk-soul gem, before Monsieur Van Pratt gleefully dances into disco-funk territory via the spacey synths, groovy bass guitar, crunchy Clavinet licks and fluttering flute solos of "UFO". Over on side B Souldynamic provides some rubbery disco bounce via "Better", while De Gama goes all samba-house with the cowbell-propelled South American style Hammond funk of "Groove On".

Editor's Kutz #7
Editor's Kutz #7 (yellow vinyl 12")
Cat: EDITORSKUTZ 007. Rel: 31 Mar 16
VinylAddicted - "Shining Bright" (6:23)
Dan Johnson - "Love Affair" (6:18)
Get Down Edits - "Stop On By" (6:21)
Osmose - "Get Ready" (6:09)
Review: Saying that Editor's Kutz is going string would be an understatement, and although the label are only on their seventh outing to date, it feels like much longer that we've been graced with their inimitable style of disco editing. There's four cuts this time, a timeless bunch of disco groovers that have been re-moulded for the modern ear and its need for a steady but of 4/4. "Shining Bright" from VinylAddicted is any disco lover's dream come true, while Dan Johnson's "Love Affair" is a solid, fist-pumping bomb with one mighty bassline. On the B-side, "Stop On By" is more laid-back and cooler in its approach, but "Get Ready" is the shining star here, a deep, wet slice of dynamite funk that you could leave on repeat for hours on end.
