Review: Lo-fi house lovers Chaos In The CBD make their Fabric debut with a new mix CD and LP, contributing their wares to the latter's fresh mix Presents series, which came about after the end of the FABRICLIVE series and has seen to the likes of Sherelle, Octo Octa and Marbou State also feature. This 22-track extravaganza is noted to have been Fabric's most challenging licensing ordeal to date, having to polish a variety of sonic gemstones including by The Logic Box, Box Clever and Psychedelic Research Lab. Clearly, the relative obscurity of the names on the CD make this the duo's ode to 'hidden' house. Their original track 'Higher Elavation', meanwhile, cements this mysterious mood with surreptitious basses and smoggy pads.

Review: This new EP grey and black splattered 12" from Orlando Voorn features a real glut of goodness - there is the stone-cold classic 'Flash' under his Fix alias which is big, bouncy techno with wigged-out synths and plenty of playful energy. There is also the brand new title track 'Pulsor' which is a nice heady and deep cut with silky synth ripples and rubbery drums intertwining with one another perfectly. The two remixes included have never been available on vinyl before. The first is Orlando's chunky and funky techno rework of 'Boucle To The Beat', one of Toddy Terry's most recognisable early tracks. Then last of all is the colourful house sound of Ken Ishii's remix of 'Dope Computer'. It's a filter-heavy and loopy jam with prickly acid that will pump any party.

Review: Digging Deeper's latest archival dive takes us back to 1995 and a cult classic from Italian producer Maurizio 'Jazz Voice' Verbitini. The Panic EP first surfaced on Hi-Bias Records offshoot Toronto Underground and has certainly stood the test of time. For proof, check opener 'Move To The Rhythm', a chunky, Danny Tenaglia-influenced slab of big room, early morning deep house full of undulating bass, diva vocal samples, tribal house percussion and warehouse-ready slabs. Review: The always innovative Tommy Jar Vicari brings more of his well-crafted house sounds to the French label PortaL Recs here. His Germination EP kick off with the title track which is a driving sound with low swinging drums and plenty of watery pads up top. 'Bless You' has more snappy drum work that straightens the back and makes you march. Review: This is the fourth compilation installment in Peace Symphonies' series that features multiple artists they are working with. Since starting up two years ago, this Moscow label is fast becoming one of the top avenues for house music in the country. DSF offers us 'Yes, Of Course' and 'Zorbas' for the A-side. The first one is a melodic builder that is equally beautiful as it is driving, giving us some soft trance vibes. The latter is a grooving techno jam that is spacey and ideal for stargazing on the dancefloor. For the second side, 'Ashwaganda' by Ventt & Keparys has a more tribal and African flavor to it. The EP closes out with the pair doing a fast-paced tech house gem in 'Saltwater', tinged with some superlative Balearic sounds.

Review: As far as r&b cuts go, they don't come much better or more loved than 'The Boy Is Mine', but that hasn't stopped James Mac and Vall from serving up their own version of it in a new deep house framework. They start off with warm rolling drums and embellish it with lush piano chords full of melancholy then Rosalie reins the vocal up top. It's as catchy and heartfelt as the original. On the flip is Funkerman with a much more raw and direct remix that has crisp drums and plenty of snares fills as chunky bass funk hits hard below.

Review: Since the 1970s Danny Krivit has been a prolific re-editor. We're used to him cutting up classic cuts - think disco and soul, in particular - but he's never been afraid to turn his talents to contemporary cuts. That's what you get on this surprise Defected release. On the A-side he turns his attention to "Heaven", the killer gospel-inspired modern disco single from The Vision and Andreya Triana, turning in a version with plenty of drops, instrument solos and more emphasis on the righteous, life-affirming vocals. He's in a smoother mode on side B, extended and rearranging the rich and soulful dancefloor treat that is Kai Alce's Original NDATL vocal mix of The Dangerfeel Newbies' "What Am I Here For?" - a gem from 2016 that has previously been criminally overlooked.

Review: Take Me For A Ride is the latest from Luuk Van Dijk on his own label Dark Side Of The Sun. The title track is a peak time tech house workout that is lively and energetic. Reminiscent of house at raves during the mid 90s, the combination of the vocals and rhythm makes this a fun track to listen to. The remix adds a New York house sound to it for a nice alternate version depending on how your set is trending. Review: Leon Vynehall's stunningly picturesque "Midnight On Rainbow Road" was one of the undoubted highlights of Gerd Jansen's second Musik For Autobahns compilation, which was released in the autumn of 2015 by Rush Hour. Here, it gets a deserved single release, with the original - a hypnotic, driving-inspired blend of fluid electronic melodies, a wispy percussion and Jonny Nash style glistening guitar lines - being complimented by a brand new "Beat Edit". This adds a slowly unfurling, head-nodding rhythm that takes the track further towards Detroit Beatdown territory. In essence, though, it sounds like an early '90s ambient house jam.
