Toe The Line (4:54)
Take Me (13:14)
Review: RBCHMBRS pushes his MPC - if that is the tool he used for this - to the max with a heavy mix of ramshackle loops, samples, busted drums and wonky rhythms on this great new EP for 1432 R US. It is steeped in hip-hop style for the way the grooves are so loosely assembled, but with a more rooted four-four house vibe. 'OD' is a deep and dusty opener for the back room, 'Eloise' brings hi tek funk and intense soul with Motor City overtones and 'Toe The Line' is a humid deep house cut that Theo Parrish or Moodymann might admire. 'Take Me' rounds out with twanging bass riffs and smeared chords that ooze heartfelt warmth.

Sugar Snap EP

Sugar Snap (6:33)
Interstellar (6:24)
Sugar Snap (Baldo remix) (6:19)
Interstellar (Matisa remix) (6:44)
Review: Two genuine rising stars collaborate here for the first time, as Semi Delicious label founder Demi Riquisimo joins forces with Japan-born, Bristol-based Manami. The duo opt to start in thrillingly positive and tuneful fashion on 'Sugar Snap', where Japanese-influenced melodic lead lines, spacey chords and jaunty organ stabs ride above a surging, tech-tinged house groove, before continuing the full-throttle star-gazing flavour on 'Interstellar'. Over on the flip, both tracks are given the remix treatment. Baldo turns 'Sugar Snap' into a bleeping, acid-propelled slab of hallucinatory neo-trance, while Matisa reaches for chunky organ bass, jumpy female vocal samples and fizzing electronics on a vintage UKG-influenced revision of 'Interstellar'.

The Robot Dance Connection - "Powers Of Ten" (R2d2 live edit) (5:40)
Brunzi - "Gold Saucer" (4:57)
Tomska - "Lethal Overdose" (Touch dub 2022) (5:05)
Emile - "Jeu Froid" (6:14)
Review: The second Abstract Cuts release is an EP split four ways, but with new, unconventional approaches to the dancefloor at the heart of each submission and all using vintage drum machines and samplers. The Robot Dance Connection's 'Powers Of Ten' (R2d2 live edit) kicks off side one, shiny high frequency polish played off against a gorgeously stubborn techno beat, before the slinkier and smoother 'Gold Saucer' by Brunzi offers an equally danceable but less angular counterpoint. Flip it over and Tomska's 'Lethal Overdose' (Touch dub 2022) offers rushing sonics, off kilter snare damage and four to the floor thump, before Emile's 'Jeu Froid' completes the set in grimy basement style.

Review: Six years have now passed since cuts from Roy of the Ravers' brilliant '2 Late 4 Love' cassette made their debut on vinyl, via a highly limited EP that's now fiendishly hard to find. This '2023 Edition' of the in-demand EP offers two tracks from that 12" - pleasingly lo-fi acid jack-track '2 Late For Love (Part 1)' and the fuzzy, machine-driven deep house-goes-acid minimalism of 'Emotium' - plus a pair of favourites featured on the cassette version but not the previous vinyl release (the brain-melting acid electro jam 'Cwejman Acid (Part 2)' and the hissing, distorted TB-303 and TR-909 weight of 'Melchester Acid (Part 1)'. Throw in a bonus cut recorded in the same period ('Track 5') and you have an indispensable reissue.

DimSum - "Up & Away" (6:00)
DimSum - "Up & Away" (Alex Attias remix) (7:06)
Review: Small but well formed label Addictive Pleasure Real Healing hits release number five and it takes the form of a three way split. Nephews opens up with the lithe house funk of 'To The Basement' complete with wet claps and steamy vocal coos, then Retromigration pumps a deep, jazzy house mood with 'Simpel' that is light up by some great work on the keys. DimSum is the third artists and offers some sax laced Balearic beats with 'Up & Away' which becomes a more lazy and lounging affair in the hands of remixer Alex Attias.

The Final Straw (with Black Soda) (7:23)
Rascals (6:53)
Los Que Caen (6:44)
The Cypriot (7:58)
Review: Following accomplished, if arguably overlooked, EPs for Tale & Tone and Akbal Music, Jim Ruder pitches up on All Day I Dream with four more slabs of melodious, atmospheric and soul-enriching house music. Check first the fabulous EP opener 'Final Straw', a full vocal collaboration with Black Soda piled high with chiming melodies, drifting chords, bittersweet clarinet snippets and chunky bass, before admiring the (synthesized) steel pan sounds and beefy beats of 'Rascals'. Elsewhere, 'Los Que Caen' is fill to bursting with sparkling, life-affirming cheeriness, while 'The Cypriot' is an immersive, intoxicating, sub-heavy tech-house wonder tailor-made for heads-down 4AM moments.

Feeling That Way

Feeling That Way (7:46)
Feeling That Way (Jakob Seidensticker & MELINA remix) (5:19)
Review: Originally known for mixing up cosmic disco and indie techno, Lily & Kazan's production career has taken a turn towards classic house pastures. Their latest project, Gingerblack, is rooted in their love of house sounds of the 80s and 90s. What better way to announce it to the world, then, than by joining forces with the voice of house, Robert Owens. The honey-voiced former Larry Heard collaborator is naturally in fine form on 'Feeling That Way', a re-invention of piano-powered 90s house (complete with bubbly synth bassline, spacey chords and loose-limbed drums) with a 21st century twist. Jakob Seidensticker & MELINA provide the obligatory remix, re-imagining the track as a deep, rolling breakbeat house number with added bass pressure and sweat-soaked drum machine handclaps.

Rio Love - "I'm Not Tough But I'm Tired" (6:13)
Review: Larry Heard offers up a mesmerising history lesson on this collaboration with spoken word artists Piccolo JT and Rio Love, from Sharpsburg, North Carolina and Chicago respectively. There's an educational, empowering purpose to these four tracks, as our hosts guide us through reflections on important Southern social gatherings and overall social observations accompanied by some of Heard's inimitable productions. There's variety to the music as it flows from mellow deep house to bugging melodic techno and back again - as vital as any Alleviated record you care to mention, but with an added message.

Luca Distefano - "Be Kind" (6:16)
Review: Another Face launches with a fierce various artist affair here that showcases some of Italy's finest production talent. Luca Vera kicks off with 'Feel Better', a raw and texturally rich cut that brings angst and energy to the dancefloor. DJ Rocca explores a much more horizontal and heady house groove steeped in classic dreamy Italo melodies on 'Epsylon Club' then Rame's 'Bow Down' carries on with colourful synths bringing to mind a sunset dance by the Med. Luca Distefano shuts down with shuffling, dusty, jazzed-up deep house funk on 'Be Kind' to close out a diverse first EP.

Review: Residentes Balearicos is a new project founded by Luca Averna and Ale Doretto, both resident DJs in Ibiza hailing from Venice, Italy. Following up some great releases by the likes of Okinawa Delays and Max Essa, Archipelago present the pair's latest expression in sensual and sun kissed euphoria in the form of 'La Musica' which comes with two remixes that are equally worthy of your attention. The welcome return of Rudy's Midnight Machine (aka Simon Lee of Faze Action) taking things into perfectly low slung territory for beach side chilling, while London's Chris Coco hands in a rendition that sounds like a neon-lit night drive down the coast, on a balmy summer evening.

Review: Revelation was a short-lived New York City-based house pairing that should not be confused with the 70s soul and disco group. They crafted just three EPs and the Atmosphere label is reissuing them having started with 'First power' back in January. Chapter 2 features four more brilliantly futuristic techno cuts, with 'Odyssey' going first. It's got bubbling synth lines and steely, shimmering drums with a high-tech soul feel. 'Arrival' then has more gurgling cosmic waves and clanking hits looping back and forth before 'Resurgan' explores a floating gore that glides through the cosmos with serene pad work for company. 'Masochist Trip' closes with some crisp breakbeats.

Review: When it's done right, you really cannot beat a good soulful house tune. And this new single 'Hard To Stay Away' by Ezel featuring Rona Ray is just that. It has clean production but isn't overly polished. It feels deceptively simple on first listen but the keys really shine, the bass is well-defined, and the claps perfectly hip-swinging, all with a perfect soul vocal up top. Warm, candlelit and funky, it's a classic in the making. The legend that is Atjazz is the perfect man to remix this sort of stuff and he does a fine job of taking it into more dreamy and cosmic territory.

Review: From Kon's forthcoming compilation on BBE entitled Kon & The Gang, this 12? sampler features two cuts taken from the LP and an exclusive remix from Boston producer and mix engineer Caserta, namely "Timeless" (Caserta mix)" a tasty serving of super deep and low slung disco goodness. Review: A neat slice of UK house with unorthodox and bleepy elements courtesy of fresh producer Rossi here. 12" 'Feel It' spans everything from breaksteppy hard house to UKG, urging the floorbound masses to "feel alright" through an unapologetic, repetitive insistence in vocal sample form. The instrumental is just as effective, revealing a drummy, hi-NRG underbelly. Garrett David's version is the final garage number, adding curious bell chords and a garage swing.

In this case drawing its inspiration from Detroit's meteoric rise from the ruins of the past, BerettaMusic a label founded in Detroit in 2002 who took a several year hiatus is back in a big way, also rising from the ashes like it's birth city has done. The compilation opens with Seamus Haji's 'Dance With Me', a spirited house track featuring Kathy Brown's powerful vocals and a driving beat. Illyus & Barrientos contribute 'Wait' featuring Phebe Edwards, a melodic house track with disco influences, soaring strings and rhythmic percussion. Review: It's always a good day when the Blahh label rises up from the streets to drop a new bit of true school garage. This is a various artists release which brings together core label members Beforethebeatsbreak, Ronaldo and Crazy Bank, who have all served up their own solo EPs before now. It's the latter who kicks off with the tightly coiled bump n grind of 'So Good' before Ronaldo gets your feet moving on 'Get My 319', another dry, clipped garage shuffler with pent up energy to spare. There are good time piano-led vibes to Beforethebeatsbreak's B1 then 'Why You Wanna' from Crazy Bank is defined by its pitched up vocal sound.

Review: The long-running Bondage Games series creeps ever closer to a 10th installment here with four more cuts of stylish minimal house and tech. Mihai Popoviciu kicks off with 'Elevation Zero' and soon sinks you into a nice silky groove with warped pads and glistening tech drums. Pornbugs & Cristina Lazic keep the smooth and serene moods going with the subtle and supple 'November Haze'. Brine vs Sam Ruffillo - "Request Line" (5:20)
Brine - "Star Chaser" (4:18)
Review: We've heard plenty about the underground electronic music scenes in Napoli, Milan and Rome, but not so much about the new wave of deep house and broken beat producers currently emerging from Bologna. This EP from Bristol's Boogie Cafe Records tries to put the record straight by bringing together a quartet of cuts from some of the city's fast-rising producers. Check first the insanely funky, broken house brilliance of Sam Ruffilo's blues-sampling "U Make Me Sing", before bathing in the jazzy solos, drowsy male vocals and jazz-funk-flecked cheekiness of D'Arabia's "Straight Outta Fire". Brine takes over on the flip, first joining forces with Ruffilo on the revivalist '90s NJ garage flex of "Request Line", before going solo on the ultra-deep, woozy and sun-kissed deep house warmth of "Star Chaser".

It is now nearing its 50th EP and the quality hasn't dropped a bit as this latest 12" proves. Title cut 'Down Is The New Up' is a pretty lively sound for Ruh - her usual dusty and deep drum are overlaid with percussive clatter and some wild synth sounds that eventually melt away to delicate keys and horns. 'Pro Vita' then slips into more signature and smoky deep house territory next to the raw tech house textures of 'She Said.'

Review: Aaron Andrew's Chubby label doesn't rush things. Since launching in 2018 and now only just hitting its sixth release though the music sure is worth the wait and is proof that quality will always win over quantity. Leonid's twin brother, Al Smith opens up with the cuddly and cosmic depths of 'Drama Room' before getting more dark and unsettling with his twisted synth modulations on 'Full Of Music', which then becomes a gorgeous downtempo cut with star-gazing pads and splashy hits within the Specter remix. Dan Piu picks up the pace for some delightfully warm deep house dynamics on 'Days Gone' and 'Snows Of Solaris'. Last of all is the more scuffed up, heads down deep house murk of Rai Scott's remix of Dan's intro tune, 'Day's Gone'.

Review: Cosmic Rhythm's in-house 'dream team' of label boss Nicola Laporchio (AKA Cosmic Garden and Nico Lahs) and regular contributor Michele Lamacchia (Rhythm of Paradise, 34th Floor Experience) rarely fails to impress. Their latest EP as Rydm Sectors, their first outing of 2023, is another doozy, with all four tracks being primed for peak-time house floors. They begin with the chunky, thickset, synth sax-sporting title track, a sweat-soaked and bass-heavy riff on classic New Jersey garage-house with an added early morning twist, before exploring Don Carlos-esque waters on the loved-up excellence of 'Be There'. 'Feeling You' is a drowsy, saucer-eyed riff on mid-tempo Italo-house of the early 90s, while 'Bring Me Tonite' is an atmospheric new jersey deep house shuffler.

Review: Harry Romero returns to Crosstown Rebels as he links with vocalist Shyam P for 'Mind Games'. With a catalogue as rich as any and continuing at the top of his game two decades after his emergence within New York's fabled nightlife scene, Romero continues to serve up his own take of Latin-inspired and percussive-driven house music via a long list of the industry's leading imprints. Crafting a slick and heady groove before launching into a hypnotic haze accenting by a bubbling bassline, 'Mind Games' is an infectious and vibrant house cut as Shyam P's alluring vocals take hold amongst emotive builds and breaks. 'Mira', after, is a classic Romero offering as the focus shifts to crisp organic percussion arrangements, carnival-esque whistles and hooky Latin vocals for a bustling terrace number, before 'Analog Bugz' takes cues from its title as crisp drum shots and sharp stabs unite to create a no-nonsense builder made for the main room.

A-Tweed & Oltrefuturo - "Fyah" (5:40)
Review: Cult Edits are specialists in pushing a certain kind of heater, working in a mode landing something between edit and original. Six producers - Mario Bianco, Tomoo Hata, Roe Deers, Radial Gaze, A Tweed and Oltrefuturo - lay down a blend of sampledelic, ecstatic, multi-tempo'd tribal moods. Channelling everything from chic Tulum rituals to the brutalism of Eastern-European underground clubs, and rounded off by doses of Italian rasta and Japanese re-imagining of Hungarian folk song, all come to the label's exquisite brand of mandala-esque vinyl.

7th Power Of Dance (Monchan 90's Saturday Night In Village mix) (7:22)
7th Power Of Dance (Monchan Luv A dub mix) (6:24)
Review: We're not sure what the first six are but the 7th Power of Dance is a strong one, if this EP from Chachi Romero is anything to go by on the Japanese-US label Dailysession. It kicks off with the majestic original - a future Body & Soul classic, surely, with its funky guitar riffs, gloriously spiritual chords and jazzy keys all topped off with a properly steamy vocal. After that comes a series of versions starting with a Pablo Cruz Midnight Drive mix that is more smooth and traditional in its deep house approach. Monchan 90's Saturday Night In Village mix is all about the funky riffs and soft focus bells that glow bright and then his Monchan Luv A dub mix brings jumped percussion and extra layers of drums.

Kaye - "So Much Soul" (5:04)
Halal Sol - "Contusion" (5:17)
Review: Singapore label Darker Than Wax have been doing a sterling job in carrying crucial, headsy cuts from contemporary funk artists, and now they're providing a handy overview for all those curious about the past, present and future vibe of the label. Teymori brings a woozy mood to "Running For You" with some sweet and sassy leads and a stunning vocal turn from Jace XL. Malik Hendricks brings a dreamy kind of jack to "Umore", while Ricky Razu ups the house pressure with a pumping beat fit for the likes of Chez Damier on "Soul Slide". Kaye gets heavier and freakier with the bass on tribal roller "So Much Soul", and then Halal Soul finishes the EP off with the subtly red-lining thrust and swing of "Contusion".

READ - "Where's My Phone" (feat Sailor Jane - Marco Faraone remix) (6:36)
Review: Four of DFTD's latest releases have arrived on wax for the very first time. On the first side is the dream team of Darius Syrossian & George Smeddles nailing that four-to-the floor main room vibe on 'Back In The Dance', followed by something deeper couretsy of YouANDme & Kristina Sheli with some near spiritual mood music on 'Moment' (Transcriptions mix). Over on the flip, Offaiah nails that classic UK tech house sound on the stompin' 'Up All Night' and the mighty Marco Faraone closes it out with a remix of READ's 'Where's My Phone' (feat Sailor Jane) that's properly geared for those heads-down moments on the dancefloor.

Won't Stop (6:01)
Drop The Bass (6:08)
I Luv It (6:03)
Review: They don't come much more on point and useful for tech house fans than East End Dubs's Eastenderz. It is now well into its second half century of releases and Ben Eau is the man charged with serving up the sounds on this purple and silver splattered vinyl. 'Won't Stop' opens up and is an in form tech roller with dry hits and the sort of tightly programmed beats that dancers latch onto for days. On the flip and as the title suggests, 'Drop The Bass' has some playful bass teases and a more weighty low end while 'I Luv It' completes a trio of top tunes, all with their own character and charms.

Dreamoon (2:21)
Review: Ethos is a brand new label from Athens that follows up its notable debut with another classy deep house offering from Jose Rico, who has long been synonymous with such things. 'Dubplates' opens up with slow, patient, warming dub house that is lo-fi and coated in misty pads. 'New Life Galactica' is another richly atmospheric deep house sound with muted acid lines and humid chords while 'Fade Out' gets a little more driving with a jumble of woody hits and golden soft focus chords. 'Future World Dreamoon' shuts down with fine broken beats and jazzy synth work for cultured and cosy backrooms.
