Review: Contemporary house music's most prolific producer, Felipe Gordon, delivers his second EP for Clone offshoot Royal Oak. Whereas his first, 2022's 'Impresiones Acidas', added oodles of TB-303 trickery to his usual jazz-funk-flecked deep house sound, this four-tracker seems more informed by vintage New Jersey garage and turn-of-the-90s NYC deep house. The headline attraction is 'For Martha', a bumpin' excursion rich in squelchy synth-bass, synthesiser horn sounds and deliciously dreamy chords. Kai Alce delivers an even more old school-sounding revision blessed with his usual warming and jazz-flecked instrumentation, before the Colombian producer returns with 'Waves', a spacey, off-kilter, percussion-rich workout of the sort we'd usually associate with Glenn Underground or Ron Trent, and the hazy, all-action early morning delight that is 'The Beginning Of That Lonesome Road'.

Review: Bogota producer Felipe Gordon seems to be in an unstoppable run of form right now. His new album Psychedelic Melancholia is just about to drop on Hip Dozer and is already much talked about, while he has also found time to turn out this fresh EP for Dutch label Clone. It opens up with the delightfully deep, dusty and Detroit-style house of 'No Words' then things get more physical but no less warm and vibes with the cursing grooves of 'Travel Through Your Mind'. 'No Words' (Byron The Aquarius dub mix) then boils things back down into a steamy dub stew and a second remix of the same tune by the American brings a little more playful and jazzy synth-funk.

Review: A regular to the Shall Not Fade output, Columbian producer Felipe Gordon returns for a collaborative EP with Belgian artist, Krewcial, for a deep dive into their shared sonic world. An ode to their shared love of cycling, this EP traverses many textures and terrains, ascending into moments of brightness and descending into deep atmospheres. The first track, '1972', kicks off with an outer casing of flecked percussion, before the introduction of a driving, hill-climbing bass line. Track number two, 'Dying', features rousing choir vocals, bringing a gospel-sensibility to the firmly funk-tied bass line. On the B-side, 'Answer' has a careening melody with hints of nostalgia, side-stepping between satisfyingly clean kick drums and brusque snares. The flip also features a remix by Session Victim - a beautifully floaty reimagining of the more grounded original. A highly multifaceted release and a strong addition to Shall No Fade's already gleaming catalogue.

The Detroit man is one of the many contemporary flag bearers for the much loved original 313 house sound and as his DJ sets attest, heinous how to pick out the best work from others on a similar tip. He does that here with a various artists four tracker that kicks off with a brace of soul fuelled and jazz laced deep house cuts from Felipe Gordon. Stefan Ringer then brings that lo-fi house goodness and exquisite synth craft with 'You Know' while Deepset's 'U Got Dat' is a late night number with a low slung sense of sleaze.

Review: Peggy Gou has long since broken out of niche dance music circles out on to the wider world thanks to her pro and well crafted DJ sets and earned ties with plenty of high-end fashion brands. Review: Following up last year's production with Baltimore techno legend Maurice Fulton on 'Jigoo', the next release on Gudu is the first of two songs by label boss Peggy Gou that she will release over the coming months. Her first single in over two years, it translates to 'Butterfly' and is another collaboration. This time with fellow Korean sensation OHHYUK who is the lead singer and guitarist in the band Hyukoh. 'Nabi' is a downtempo, pop-inflected number said to be inspired by '80s synth classics and '90s Korean songs that Gou's mother used to play at home during her childhood.

The EP features four tracks that showcase his diverse musical influences and skills, ranging from deep house to Balearic to downtempo. The EP opens with 'Pretty Lights', a collaboration with Brandon Markell Holmes and Leito, that combines emotive chords, a catchy vocal hook and a smooth groove. The second track is 'Polaroids', featuring Tee Amara, a piano-driven track with hypnotising pads and a sublime vocal. The third track is a remix of 'Polaroids' by Glenn Davis, who adds some ethereal elements and dreamy synth work to the original.

Review: The third instalment of NeighbourSoul rhythm's limited vinyl-only treatment of space-age nu-disco and funk isn't to be messed with. Straight to the point, the opening 'Love Attack' is a fast-paced guitar-led disco-funk banger - no warm-up, just dancing. Track 2, 'Dream Machine' is out-of-this-world, literally, with its vocal cosmic pinings of an android-dominated future scape against a relentless synth pattern.
Side B brings us back down to earth, to the middle of the night in the dance hall, 'Never Gonna Let You Go' is a mid-tempo groover that commands your joints to keep busting shapes no matter how tired your body tells you to feel. The guitar leads you into a false sense of security before the vocal adlibs and hypnotic brass pump the fever directly into you. Review: DJ and producer Mark Grusane is a hails from Chicago and is co-owner of Mr. Peabody Records, which specialises in rare and obscure vinyl from around the world. While many prior releases have appeared due to that affiliation, 'Book Me For Your Birthday Party' hears the cream of his music released for German label Bless You. Four raw, sexual, jacking, jukey house music cuts appear, showing off the kind of production antics Grusane gets up to while enjoying his off hours at the record store. While they're at least ten years old, we're sure Grusane still has access to the same inner clown that not only allows him to be such a great party guest, but also lets him make such heaters.

Review: The simply and aptly named 'Cuts' label launched in 2021, and immediately set about re-editing "precious (disco) gems mined from a wall of vinyl, cut, polished and mounted for maximum love." The image is endearing; that of a masked vigilante picking from an array of his/her/their best disco weaponry. For their fifth love-bombing crime fighting spree, the artist known as Guest (literally) cuts up classic cuts including 'A Place For Us' and 'Disco Is The Thing Today'. Moody, choppy and supremely dark.

Review: Joe's Garage sounds like a super fun place to be going off this new EP from Gene on Earth's Limousine Dream label. It is Guile who is inviting us there and opener 'What We Got' has old school vocals and warm, rich tech drums. The title cut is a little more smooth and zoned out for late-night astral cruising and as should all good 12"s, the flip side offers something more freaky. 'Mi Menor' is nice rigid tech house with colour in the chords. 'Danger' is the sort of house cut to send you home happy with its heartfelt, smeared chords and feel-good drums.

Review: Gold standard house label Razor-N-Tape looks back to Guinu's modern LP of Brazilian jazz-funk, Palago^, and has some key cuts from it remixed by a selection of assured studio hands here. First up, Jose Marquez reworks the title track into a heavy and hypnotic jam with big percussion. Review: Gulf Breeze's Something Strange EP is one of the very many classics in the catalogue of the much loved Sex Tags Mania label. It's become hard to find and rather pricey so the label has now reissued it in all its glory. The original is an old school inspired house track with chunky and driving drums and nice bass pulsations. The Mrs & Mrs Do The Business mix comes with a steamy vocal cry and then the drums get roughed up a little for the Nemo Vachez Alien Garage mix which comes with reversed stabs and bleeping melodies. Last of all is the Muelsa remix with a more turbocharged bassline.

Review: Soulful acid house flavours with a hint of dub techno sauce from Sebastian Gummersbach here, debuting for Yore Records. It's a neat addition to the Andy Vaz-run label, out from which many similar releases have emerged, yet none quite so unique. The charming FM knocks on 'Calming Solitude' are enough to calm our nerves to the extent of passing up the CBD oil, while the EP highlight 'Eden' dips its toes into gushing emotion, its sunset pads tempering an otherwise raw and scratchy 909 backing. An overall neat emoter-stonker in the mode of acid.

Review: Parisian dance artist Gunnter is sure to impress with his latest contribution to his own Normandy Records, texturally outdoing a lot of his contemporaries who also work in the same sort of 'aquatic acid' that has seen much fame in recent years. Review: It's been a minute since we last heard form the VBX Music crew out of Amsterdam, having last put out a monster EP from Villalobos and Ferro. Now they're back with a high-grade second round from Frank Haag, who delivers modern tech house with attitude across two essential cuts for any head who wants to be keyed into the best new cuts in the scene.
