Review: Full 140 futurism right here from burgeoning London label Cutcross as four exciting new-gen artists from across Europe flex their sub muscles. Conzi lights the smouldering fire with 'Kway', a smoking slab of roomy dubstep primed strictly for big systems. Ehua follows with an even deeper piece of club bass as she weaves startling atmospheres between spacious percussion. Elsewhere Belgium's Zygos fires off some heavy sirens before Jamiu (a UK artist who used to be known as Perspective) brings the whole EP to a juicy and joyously unsteady finale with the rattling percussion and heavy dub echoes of 'Rasaks'. Cutting edge bass.

Review: J:Kenzo strikes us down with pure bass weight once again, this time on Infernal Sounds with an almighty remix of San Francisco's Saule's ploughman stepper "Cure Dem". Adding an orchestral twist to those murderous stabs, this remix doesn't so much as cure but completely blazes every possible inch of your skin. Flip for an escapade of more ominous proportions as "Shijima's Revenge" takes us deep into Japanese legend with a powerful droning bass and a march-like groove that will have you trooping into the shadiest of graveyards. Absolute murderation.

Review: The first new material since his self-titled album in September 2012, Kenzo goes all-in on this immense Tempa four-tracker. "Cause & Effect" is a slurring, slo-mo psychedelic workout with eerie, ominous pads and anvil-like beats. "Ricochet" lives up to its name with a tight ping-pong polyrhythm that quickly builds momentum before taking a deep, steady breath on the halfsteps. "Enter Valarak" is the darkest cut of the pack thanks to swaggering dragon tempo that blows smoke out of its clogged bass nostrils. "Bloodlines" completes the set with tight weaves of percussion, off-kilter loops and trippy dubbed out jungle bleeps. Tracing dubstep's bloodlines back to its soundsystem roots, Kenzo truly deserves the 'classicist' title the press have recently given him.

Review: Man like Kenzo eases into 2022 with a trip down the path of tranquillity on 'Karthaus'. Stunning dubwise flavours, very measured and calm, it's Kenzo at his deepest and most introspective. Elsewhere we roll up our sleeves and get the hammers on 'Solar Return' while 'Astral Traveller' brings heavy shades of cosmic funk thanks to a subtly mutating bassline and strange alien bleeps. Finally we hit our destination with 'Silentium'. Part film score, part futurism, all emotion, Kenzo wraps up the EP in a heavy meditative state... Leaving us refreshed and ready for the year ahead. Big up the Artikal massive.

Review: You ever danced with Josi Devil in the pale moon light? Well now is your chance! Making his debut on Innamind Josi (AKA Joe Dreamer) hits hard with three unique system shakers. 'Madnuss 2 Long' creeps out at the front, unhurried but very focused. It's backed up by two more heavyweight flavours - 'Sunk Still' is straight up dub with a clinically obese sub bass melting all over the kicks while 'Horn Switch' hurls in a bucket of warm, squiggly alien funk. 'Dial Tone' takes a familiar sound and twists it into an undulating hook that melts around the swaggering kicks. 'FD2' continues the tonal theme with a dubby harmonic that rattles and ghosts around the stripped back, slouching beats before 'Midnight Heist' takes things even deeper with heavily filtered pads, sleepy horns and the swampiest drums this side of the sewer. Review: Juss B is Torrey Thomas, a producer based in Long Beach, California with releases on Uprise Audio, CPA and FatKidOnFire. He's got a new one out this week on Belgium's Duploc, the 'leading tastemakers for real dubstep' with some Stateside low end theories on the label's 42nd release. Features the Ourman remix of Sandman, which is said to be highly anticipated and we can see why - definitely some deep hypnotic vibes on this one! Elsewhere, there's the roaring bass exploitations of 'Burn This' and the bass bin destruction of 'Make It Rain' which altogether represent the standard of quality that's so prevalent on the west coast at present.

Review: The Deep Heads crew comes through with a first sampler from their third volume of Deep Heads Dubstep cuts. It's another one all about heavy bass and heady atmospheres and another one that proves that dubstep can still be a vital sound when done right. Kromestar opens with 'Another Day' and its dreamy space synths, then 'Congi' cooks up lurching beats and lunging chords for a lovely late night vibe. Biome's 'Night Flight' is an exquisitely programmed drum work out that floats in mid-air and Josh Vishnu closes down this fine EP with the darker mood and cavernous bass of 'Truth'.

Rider Shafique takes the lead with his signature smoky tones and poetics, Jahdan Blakkamoore contrasts between his gravelly spoken word and musicality on the chorus before Pupajim lets the beat breathe a little more before going full harmonic ham.
