Review: All producers on this timeless EP known for their contribution to NuDisco/Deep House Music. 1 Life records has enlisted the services of top talents. Deep house veterans Mateo & Matos wrap drifting deep spheres, lilting electronics & warm synth rhodes chords around a chunky groove on his fine beat interpretation for a brighter & breezier deep house vibe on a remix that benefits greatly from a squeezable synth bassline & some undulating TB-303 style acid motifs, while Rune Lindbaek deliver with Frisvold a driving chunk of dub-disco/deep house fusion rich in sparkling synthesizer lines, sun-kissed chords & his own rubbery post-punk bass. Studio don Vincent Inc bring unforgettable impressions & inspiration for mind, body & soul together with his remix. 4 tracks came together to tell music stories about hypnotic deepest stuff, depression, happiness, loneliness, love, miracles & magical experiences
Review: It's been a while since Zolta Pal last used the Jaffa Surfa alias. In fact, his last outing under the pseudonym dropped three years ago on Houseworx (the US garage-flavoured Pimpin' EP). This three-tracker happily finds him in fine form, delivering a more tech-tinged trio of aquatic deep house cuts. There's naturally plenty to enjoy, from the subterranean shuffle and liquid melodies of "Bazz" and heavy percussive bump of "Psy Lance" - all thickset, multi-tracked drums, calming pads and fizzing electronics - to the beatless bliss of "Preacha Bonus", which - unsurprisingly given the title - features a deep south preacher chatting over heady ambient chords.
Review: We are proud to present another debut on Axces Records, this time from label head Alfredo92. The A side kicks off with Mimis, an explorative bass driven track with crisp snares and bubbling synthesizers. Next up is the title track Helfand, whose experimental sounds and textures take things in a mystic IDM like direction. On the B side we Adax_pcp, a hypnotic club cut which further explores complex pulsating outernational rhythms. Finally to seal the deal we have Scalex, a twisted dancehall tune with splashes of futuristic sound design.
Review: After taking time out to search for the right blend of carefully curated tracks, Bristol-based dancefloor futurists Innate return with a third multi-artist EP - shot through with melody, warmth and soul.
A quartet of timeless-sounding tracks full of stargazing sounds, undulating acid lines, far-sighted electronics and crackling beats, the A side kicks off with Perseus Traxx's "Drifting In Space": a loose-limbed exercise in analogue house deepness that wraps slowly shifting pads, meandering melodies and pulsating TB-303 motifs around broken house drums.
Welcoming Australian scene stalwart Ewan Jansen to the fray with "Sinders", he effortlessly blurs the boundaries between far-sighted, Motor City style techno and the kind of head-in-the-clouds analogue sounds that have always been his forte.
On the flip, Reedale Rise adds his touch with "Coral". In keeping with the brilliance of his 2018 debut album "Luminous Air", he drops a colourful, picturesque voyage into deep electro territory rich in ear-catching melodies, engaging chord sequences and crunchy machine percussion. To round, label co-founder Owain K returns with "Teifi", another ultra-deep treat: an enveloping, dancefloor excursion rich in fluttering lead lines, slowly expanding chords, vintage bass and punchy drums. A fitting conclusion to Innate's latest immaculate, eyes-closed voyage."
Review: Really love this album. This is probably some of Malcolm's best works, although it's hard to decipher as we like nearly everything he writes. As an album, it sounds like he's put everything he has into it, full of emotion and diversity. It's hard to say which track is our favorite but we are torn between Faithful Fearful and Regrets. Keep up the good work Malcolm as this is a masterpiece. Anyone who sleeps is missing out.
For our first release, we are proud to present 3 reissued tracks from Canadian house pioneer Nick Holder! Nick has been instrumental in the deep house sound that developed in the 90's and his vast catalogue of remixes and original productions speaks for itself. We carefully selected these gems from the extensive DNH records catalogue to bring you "Nick Holder - Selected Works" All three tracks have been remastered.
"Love is blind" (DNH 50) leads off the EP with warm emotive pads, muted horns and a melancholy vocal sample. The B side continues with Blackman (DNH 49), another signature Holder track featuring an infectious call-to-action spoken word set over Nick's classic 4-to-the-floor drums. We round off the EP with "She likes it (remix)" (DNH 53) This track hits all the right places with its afro styled drums and female vocal/chant throughout.
Review: Sudd WAX is a vinyl only label of Sudd Records Family. Gari Romalis returns with a new approach into Dub Sounds.
Detroit Metro Terminal presents his funky and soul roots into three new amazing tracks.
Review: Scott Boutin aka Blue Soul has been with us since the label was in it's infancy. This 3 song 12" properly showcases Bluesoul's otherworldly dub house acid disco sound that is uniquely his own. Mastered by Dietrich Schoenemann at Complete.
Review: Since his debut on Balance blessed by Chez Damier (2012) that Jorge Caiado has released a very consistent number of EPs (8) supported by the likes of Move D, Andy Weatherall, Fred P or Josh Wink.
This new one - Nasha's Groove - is rather special because it announces his much awaited debut LP "Time & Space" and pays tribute to a long time studio companion recently passed away: his legendary dog Nasha.
And if House is a feeling that brings one nation nation under a groove, then having Brawther on board for remix duties makes it the perfect family affair. On B side you're offered 2 original tracks not featured on the vinyl LP.
So now: play it and feeeeel it until the album is out!
Manuel Costela, Rafa Santos - "Driving To The East"
Manuel Costela, Rafa Santos - "Rise On Chords"
Review: Madrid-based label Mate back once again with a new ep of deep house class heads. Reggie Dokes is all over the A side, the artist of Pychostasia, People of Earth, Sistrum presents three tracks full of intense melodies and chords that will make you fly.The B side presents two shared tracks by Manuel Costela, artist of Bucketround, and Rafa Santos. Both tracks are an excelent colaboration fusioning the best of these artists, with powerful bass and drums that will make you groove.
Review: A1 Starting off the Ep with D'Funks track Follow me with Jazzy Chords and his signature 909 Drums and humming bass.
A2 Adam Collins from Omni A.M. and Mark Ambrose found this one from the Vaults .A grooving bassline with Adam on the vocal effects with funky drums and with a tripped out sound from a Roland Jupiter 6.
B1 D'Funk takes it back the to the sound of the early 90's when House was moving into Drum and Bass. Great chords with his signature 909 programming over a break beat and a deep baseline.
B2 Mark Ambrose's Machine Man track is the faster and darker track on the Ep. A track that can be played slowed down as well. A old school bassline , heavy drums and tripped out effects.
Review: Adeen Records 004 installment comes from Alexander Robotnik. This all new material ep starts with the techy "I Love My House." A catchy retro feel groove record that's electro as only Mr. Robotnick can do. The next song is called "You Have Time" with a sure-fire crowd pleasing remix from NDATL's own head honcho Kai Alce. The next is "Made In China," and our staffs favorite. While Camille's version of "You Have time" is a dark deep jazzy version in comparison to Kai's more clubby feel, The last track is the original version of the song by Alexander himself. Three original songs and 3 innovative producers, What's there not to love?
Review: For the 20th release on P.O.D Records, the duo Politics Of Dancing dug out an underground french house classic from Dj Freddy, Emergency Delivery. This long awaited repress is issued with a remix from England's very own Archie Hamilton and label boys themselves Politics Of Dancing.
Already a favorite.
Review: Next in store for the prestigious Icelandic label AE Recordings is a collaboration between well-known Icelandic & Russian artists. The Moscow legend Anton Kubikov delivers a beautiful & haunting minimal techno track, bound to encapsulate the essence of Russian winter - while SCSI-9 offers a dubby and a hypnotic techno anthem. The Icelandic regulars of the label bring their goods to the table. The ever-intriguing collaboration of Ohm & Octal Industries never ceases to disappoint - and their contribution is an intriguing atmospheric deep house track, ideal for home-listening as well for the late-night rooms. The Thule Records label boss Thor offers a musical equivalent of a megafauna with his track - heavy hitting dub chords, mindbending delays & that little extra magic that we all love from the Icelandic god of thunder. Essential for the record bag!
Eddie Matos - "Hypnotized" (Rune Lindbaek & Frisvold remix)
Manwoman - "Love Song"
Review: Funkyjaws alias Manwoman presents underground Chicago deep house sound, a few hints of the luscious jazzy instrumentals with swinging grooves, deep dive into the world of hard-to-find house classics, while Roland Nights bring some lush late night house, combining a warm bassline with clapping rhythms, shuffling beats, wobbly analog keys, and some great bagpipes. On B side Norwegian nu-disco veteran Rune Lindbaek together with Frisvold inaugurates his new remix for legendary Eddie Matos from Mateo & Matos duo. It's uptempo echo and FX laden remix which is kind of dwarfed in that department by the sprawling, tape delay heavy dub revision.
Review: The re-launched Secretsundaze label continues to spread it's wings with the signing of Lisbon born, London based Silvestre. The push and pull of influences from his own and adopted countries have combined to find him a unique sound that embraces rap, R&B, reggaeton as well as breaks and woozy pads from UK hardcore and house. Mixing samples, his own voice and continuing the fusion of reggaeton and breakbeat/techno from previous releases, the Silvestre Is Boss EP aims for a hazy vibe.AAAs Silvestre explains: The pad and synth choices on this EP are picked specifically to sound dreamy, a dream where you arrive at the club but the party is already finished, which sucks." Silvestre began making his name in 2015 with his first release on the Diskotopia label from Tokyo and followed that up with appearances on Creme Organization and Paraiso. He then dropped the killer 'All The Things' EP of mid-tempo party bangers on his own Padre Himalaya label which reached the top 30 of Phonica's illustrious Singles of the Year list. The Silvestre Is Boss EP is his strongest work to date with 5 tracks of quality floor and headphone directed material that perfectly balances the need for playful melody and harmony with tough grooves and synthetic ambience. Drafted in on remix duty is Secretsundaze fave D.K. (Antinote records) who takes EP heater 'Fuego', dialling down the breakbeats for a smoother trip.
Review: In the mist of the night, a driver locks his rimmed glasses to his face, fasten his seatbelt and stomps his foot on the gas. An array of beams and city lights flow in a continuous spectrum that dissolves into lines as the car speeds up. It's only a matter of time before his journey turns into a tunnel of light.?Off he goes into the distance to test the space time continuum limits of speed and sound with aboard of his car only courage and humility. For his first EP, Romain FX digs deep in his emotions to pull out four Italo & House infused tracks full of musical surprises.
