Review: A Vision Of Panorama continues his synth exploration, expanding his vision towards new synthesizer motifs and dreamy chords on a vast array of late night cosmic g-funk grooves, modern funk and boogie inspired tracks. This time covers a different spectrum of sounds and atmospheres which merge to form a harmonious whole that can stands on territories of accomplished future soul, jazz and funk. Distinctly deeper and visibly more emotive deep house than just a technique of smooth Balearic instrumentation.

Review: MB DISCO IS BACK After a break. we're ready with new releases. After heavy demand, we decided to press this little gem on vinyl. It features the stellar remixes from Psychemagik.

Named after an 80s French cartoon, this single is the product of Turkish producer Alico and his shady cohort, Cagri. The tune is a straight-up salad of vintage Eurodisco with lashings of Italo dressing. Evoking the likes of 'Droid' by Mito, Vangelis and anything by Hipnosis, this laconic sprawling synth-fest is saved from total retroville by a crisp modern electro-house bounce.

Review: Especial is delighted to welcome Alphonse back to the label for a third EP to again show his deep knowledge of the past to make a future. After the debut dub-breaks-poem of Same For Me and success of his warrior afro-dance Smokey 12", Alphonse made new friends with acclaimed releases for Klasse Wrecks, Hypercolour and Black Orpheus, before here returning like a chosen one with four sun kissed blessings.

Before the fields of Letchlade, hills of Castlemorton or beaches of Skegness had witnessed Alphonse exploring the sounds of many a free party sunrise, summers were misspent travelling the "disco" buses of Europe, tripping the light fantastic from Spook to Amnesia, Disco Piu to Euritimia.

The music, shared experiences and inclusion all led to an acute understanding apparent in his production skills. Ambient dreamscapes, warm bass lines, 808 breaks, 909 kick, piano, flute and horn melodies atop all lift to the heavens. In Moan Up and White Pepper Alphonse takes, reshapes, rebuilds and rewrites to create anew, expanding minds and hearts like never before.

Long stories, short stores, a nod and wink, at its heart Stolen Sunrise is an EP of wonderful expression, a producer peaking, providing a soundtrack to share for those that look to the future horizons with love.

Review: The crew behind the Hizou label is rightly chuffed that they've managed to secure this two-tracker from Andres, a Detroit producer whose releases - whether aimed at deep house dancefloors or hip-hop heads - are rarely less than superb. The two tracks the label has selected are suitably strong, too. Check first A-side "All U Gotta Do Is Listen", a warm and hazy chunk of break-driven mid-tempo deep house rich in jazzy samples, swirling crowd noises, chunky bass and dewy-eyed instrumentation. Andres' vintage influences are explored further on flipside "Night Time Is The Right Time", a P-funk influenced deep house bumper whose swinging drums and elongated organ chords casually tip a wink to classic New Jersey garage.

Review: Alex Arnout returns with a second EP for the Jack's House imprint. His first EP for the label (Confirmation Bias) was the first release on the label and hit the top 10 best sellers within days of release. The Sync Jam EP features 3 distinctly different tracks. 'Sync Jam' (the lead track) is a true winner with an incredibly infectious loop that creeps in quite early into the track, then the baseline drops in and you are instantly hooked and most likely want to play on repeat. It is the kind of track you wish you had made yourself as the arrangement is stella in the way it builds and engages you. This is a true favourite. 'Calling U' is a really quirky rolling number with both dark and bright tones mixed together perfectly to create a deep atmosphere using lots of interesting catchy keys and patterns throughout the arrangement. 'Resurgen' is a beautiful piece with a true quality mature Balearic sound to it. Warm pads and gentle but effective percussion roll continuously throughout. It is a smooth track that travels, creating a certain of peace of mind.

The High Five Quintet complements his delivery well with a Pimptones style soft-jazz structure but plenty of rhythmic welly. For a little more house and a little less jazz, flip for Opolopo's remix. Cat: IMO 012. Rel: 17 Jun 19
  1. Alina
  2. Alina (part II)
Review: Few are held in as higher esteem or instill as much admiration as the Italian deep house legend, Don Carlos. Imogen Recordings continue their stellar release form, locking down the maestro for a blissful two tracker that gives just as much energy, awe and emotion as his early '90s output. 'Alina' is eyes closed business right from the off. Waves of atmospheric synth strings and hazy chords roll in, as blissful pads sway with filtered drum loops. First come the dusky piano twinkles, then the trademark Don Carlos analogue bass tones, proving as prominent as ever behind melt-in-the-mouth sax grooves. Every turn and tweak conjures up memories of carefree elation - its ecstasy inducing dance music without the need for artificial enhancements. Part II is a variation on this masterpiece, progressing through the intro in a speedier fashion for those that need an express ticket to that peak time power. Shakers, claps and congas are brighter in the mix whilst the addition of a springing synth arp, fluctuations to the bassline and a re-sleazed sax line give just enough diversity to make it distinctive. It's hardier than Part I, but with every bit as much finesse and feeling. This is the real deal - no nonsense house music from a heart and head that have seen it all. Alone on a Mediterraneo beach or surround by a packed dancefloor, Alina is one to get lost in from start to finish and a solid statement that Don Carlos certainly still has 'it'.

Review: Last summer, Regularfantasy and Void Mirror joined forces in the studio for the very first time. The result is this colourful, dusty and loved-up debut EP on Mood Hut. They begin with "Gemini Month", a wholeheartedly spacey and positive affair in which dreamy deep house pads, ethereal chords and sci-fi electronics bubble away above thrusting, techno-tempo beats and bustling, post-Italo bass. "Trance Breaks (Club Mix)" is an altogether deeper - if no less intergalactic - affair, where a rising and falling bassline and psychedelic analogue synth lines wrap around relaxed electro style breaks. Arguably best of all, though, is the sunrise-ready glow of "Hits From The Bongo", another deep, melodious and dreamy deep house trip that sounds like it could have been recorded at the turn of the '90s.

Review: Club of Jacks follow up their bestselling debut vinyl release with another 4 tracker of heavyweight House & Garage cuts. This EP also features keyboard maestro Raphael 'Raffy' Bushman who adds some very special vibes. Opening track 'Follow Me' fuses deep basslines, an echoed sax riff and dubwise vocals with a rolling 4/4 UKG beat and mid-tune dubbed out breakbeat section. 'Bring It Back' is the first of the tunes featuring Raffy and he lays down some sublime jazzy piano over skippy swung beats, rhodes pads and nostalgic female R&B vocal cuts. On the flip side, 'Need Your Loving' features more of Raffy's exceptional keyboard skills in the form of organ stabs, uplifting piano solos and a funky bassline over a feel good groove. Rounding off the EP is 'Don't You Know', a late night deep house bomb, combining a heavy sub, emotive strings, organ stabs and soulful vocal flourishes.

Review:
Things I see. Things I hear. Things I say. Things I wish I'd said. Things I do. Things I'm meant to do. Things I wish I'd done. Things I love. Things that make me love. Things that make me smile. Returning to Not An Animal for the 4th time, Ess O Ess create the 'Voice Inside' on NAAR 16.

Instantly tom rolling into a neo-electro commodity, 'Voice Inside' undulates with lustrous vocals that stand as the tracks core. Pads cling to bleeps and guitar chunks that evaporate with alternating delays. 'Voice Inside (French)' adds a sensual linguistic twist, although the elements remain the same, they feel so different. 'Voice Inside (Dub)' completes the A, stripping tones back and chopping the duration to find yet another gorgeous avenue.

On the flip, Backwoods Remix adds to the original atmosphere with a face scrunching bass-line and pulsating 4/4 kicks that embraces the not so distant future. Last but by no means least, the mighty Craig Richards' signature 808s pound on the remix to close the B. Pulling darker tones to pitch shifted vocals, this minimalist beat composition is perfectly suited for vigorous floors.

This wasn't so much the case when Ex-Terrestrial released his debut EP, "Paraworld" in 2016. As this surprise reissue proves, it remains one of the best EPs of its kind. There's much to admire throughout, from title track's bongo-laden, new age deep house warmth, to the seductive ambient bliss of "Dreams of Jupiter", which still reminds us of 2015's Slow Riffs 12" on Mood Hut. 4. Etoiles
Review: The 4th and final EP of music from Exquisite Corpse brings to a close this series of rebirth and definition. Together, Robbert Heynen, Debbie Jones and Tim Freeman released in just 2 years a stream of sacred, serotonin beats and hypnotic tribal rhythms that shape shifted dance floors.

Returning to the source, the debut Reassembling Reaility EP, with Hollywood. A confluence of steppa rim, spoken mystics, found sounds, synth-strings and rolling basslines. Join us.

Leading to Strange Attractor from the prized Dream Night Dance album, familiarity and progression. Euphoric onrush, bottom end pulsing, sentimental strings, serene keys, pitch shift, a master class of less becoming more. Aural injection.

Calling The Quarters off 1993's Inner Light album starts the final side in bestowing beauty; above so below, in front, behind, around. Raw, natural, fluctuating, moody, obscure. The mystery.

The release and series completes with Etoiles. Again (aptly) drawn from 1992's Dream Night Dance Music, the hallmarks' of this underrated project are there. Detroit bass, lazy hats, counter claps, harmonies for modern times.

Tribal. Ambient. Techno. The terms do not justify the music included. As it should be. Primal, sanctified, conscious, living. The journey ending.

Review: Faze Action return with Zeke Manyika to present "Kubatana", which aptly means "Together" in Zeke's native Shona. This second release, in a series of four 12"s, features live horns and flute with the lead track taking influences from the late 80s South African Proto House sound. The result being an uplifting slice of original African House for the modern dance floor.

Cat: CDA 028. Rel: 10 Jun 19
  1. Mountain Of Madness
  2. Rolling 2 Joints (Sativa mix)
Review: Juan Ramos and Trent AKA Greenvision are back for pENE d'Amore part 2, a collaborative release between Berlin's Cocktail d'Amore Music and Ene Tokyo. This precious 12" follows Rambutan, the duo's offering to Los Angeles' ESP Institute. The cover is made by visual artist Giulia Munari and reminds of the melting pattern of a Murano glass, referencing indeed the abundance the listener is soon to discover putting the needle on this record. A multitude of acid lines tinged with a touch of trance and a carefree melody roll over an almost off-beat groove in Mountain of Madness, taking over A side. On the flip, the didgeridoo-based Rolling2joints takes the listener exploring a mystical forest on a distant planet. Again disorienting, psychedelic and explosive, Greenvsion's productions sound like riddles to be solved, puzzles to be composed. Their unique sonic layering philosophy results in an almost unclassifiable music genre ready to please the thirstier dance-floors.

All three tracks have got that classic quality to them that'll please those deep and tech house afficionados. Naturally influenced by the golden age of the late 90's uk sound, Gunnter has digested it down to three to-the-point weapons, all endowed with the 3 sacred elements of proper tech house : jacking beats, wonky basslines and deep chords. The proof's in the pudding... drop the needle on the rekkid !

  1. Gus Gus - "Your Moves Are Mine" (Sanasol remix)
  2. Thor - "Black"
  3. Biogen - "Stream" (Sanasol Lost In Time remix)
Review: For their 9th offering, ae Recordings have a various artists release. What all these artists have in common is that they have undoubtedly been leading figures within the local scene for the last 25 years.

A-side features a long lost remix which Thor made for GusGus back in 2002. There has been loud demand for this one to appear on vinyl, so the waiting is now no more. Its a balearic, tasteful and will certainly be a regular in the DJ bags this season. The B-side starts with a minimalistic and dubby anthem from Thor. A solid composition as expected from the label honcho himself. A timeless dub techno remix from Sanasol of the Icelandic electronica wizard Biogen completes this 12" - a track that first saw release back in 1997.

ae Recordings, the infamous sublabel of Thule Records, has been a hub for techno talents in Iceland since 1999. The label was, and still is, known for bringing in fresh winds into the scene and this release doesn't stray away from the concept at all; although this time we're offering a delicious slice from the older times.

For years, Minneapolis and Detroit have had a very special connection. We decided to bring two artists to tell a tale of the two cities. Three amazing tracks from Detroit's house maestro Javonntte (Traxx Underground, Quintessentials, Lets Play House, Defected) and two tracks from Minneapolis's own Lowry boys (aka Aaron Bliss of Havens & Hart and Open Sound's ACG) with a special little DJ tool thrown in for fun! To top it off we pulled in the genius himself to mix down and remaster the tracks Mr. Kevin Gorman aka Adesse Versions at Versions Mastering for that extra umff!

Review: Rocksteady Disco is extremely excited to release this multi-faceted EP from one of American dance music's most prolific musical minds: JKriv. First up, is "Aguaxire"- a deep Afro-Brazilian house cut in praise of the Yoruban orisha Oya. Full of moody Detroit-style pads, driving percussion, acid basslines, live trumpet (performed by Escort mainstay Nathan Warner), and an expertly plucked sample, this 9 minute odyssey is crafted for ecstatic dance floor use. Moving to the B side, we hear J rework the musica popular brasileira classic "Ive Brussel" into a pool-side day party anthem, complete with a full overdub of the bassline by J with his Fender Jazz bass. Following that is a traditional deejay edit of "Deep Cove View", a breezy and chilled out Brazilian jazz fusion cut with plenty of piano, slap bass, and vocal scatting. J flexes his production, performance, and arrangement prowess here, delivering 3 tracks ready for the party, the after hours, or the after-after hours.

Review: Aptly setting the scene with some dance-floor absurdity, Komodo comes Running into The Sun for NAAR 015.

Perfectly obtaining the dance-floor ambiance, 'Running into The Sun' produces the visceral beat that gets the party started, with quintessential house stabs channeling the tracks inner balearic heat. Next on the A, Eric Duncan's remix of 'Running into The Sun' funnels the original's heavier elements and pours them into a rattling house shaker. A

On side B, the steady pace of 'Slow Burning' swiftly evaporates with blissful counter melodies that intertwine with arpeggiated synths, sludgy 303s and propulsive drums that create a hypnotic timbre. 'Between Shadows' explores the balearic-beat once more, with opposing guitar melodies vibrating as the soundtrack to this drive-time burnout. Finally, new kids on the block, Latrec add their intrusive Techno remix of 'Slow Burning' to complete the release.
