Kabaka Pyramid - "Nice Up The Dance" (3:35)
Royal Blue - "Without Love" (3:34)
Review: 'Nice Up The Dance' is nabbed from the upcoming Jeremy Harding-produced Dancehall Anthems album. That is a collection of brand new versions of classic reggae and dancehall tunes featuring names like Kabaka Pyramid, Sean Paul and Beenie Man, among others, who add their own spin on classics from Yellowman, Michigan & Smiley and Ken Boothe. Kabaka Pyramid first broke through with his 2017 album Kontraband which turned plenty of heads and keeps up the fine styles on this one. Flip it over for Royal Blue's smooth and loved up 'Without Love.'

Review: On his ninth album, Jamaican Heroes, celebrated reggae artist and proud Rastafarian Prince Far I worked with musicians like Roots Radics and The Flying Lizards. His own distinctive voice remains the central characteristic of all the tunes though, and the production by Anthony "Crucial Bunny" Graham at Channel One in Jamaica remains vital. This must have record covers plenty of subjects close to the artists's own heart and each one has a special hook or nice rumbling boss, fly-away toms or stoner chords. This version comes on heavyweight orange vinyl and there are only 750 copies.

Got To Live (feat Earl 16) (3:21)
Living Version (3:21)
Review: Acid Jazz welcome Manasseh and David Hill for a fresh new production. Earl 16 is the featuring guest on 'Got To Live', and he provides some buttery vocals, musing on changing times and the desire to live in a more peaceful world. The production is led by tumbling toms and congas, with horns rising up in proud fashion next to dumpy drums and fat bottomed bass. Flip it over, and those fantastic horns lead the way on a killer instrumental version, 'Living Version.' They both make this a very tidy 7" indeed.

Burning Spear & Roland Alphonso - "Door Peeper" (4:39)
Willie Williams - "All The Way" (5:58)
Review: An anthem with an early reggae riddim. Burning Spear was an alias for Winston Rodney, one of the most beloved Jamaican singers. 'Door Peeper' was originally released in 1969 on the Supreme label in Jamaica, and later on Bamboo in the UK. Rasta lyrics and musical motifs had been previously adapted for commercial release, but none sounded quite like this. Dissimilar to the fast instrumental reggae records that were resonating with white teenagers in England at the time, this was 'starkly uncompromising music that demanded to be taken on its own terms, or not at all.'

Review: Big week for London based label Room In The Sky, following up a new one by legend Winston Reedy, we've also got this fresh 7' by singer Robert Dallas. His breathtaking vocal delivery is accompanied by Salute (aka the Room In The Sky house band) on the dub reggae soundsystem anthem 'Strictly Love'. On the flip, we have the label's in-house house band going deeper into the bass frequencies and delay effects on the dub titled 'The Unknown Riddim'. Room In The Sky is an independent label based in London that's been producing top reggae artists since 1995 including Gregory Isaacs, Dawn Penn, Vin Gordon and many more.

Review: Dutch label Roots Unity Music is back with this new one by Leeds-based Bunnington Judah and Rapha Pico (Signal1 Records) with Nga Han of The Hi Flyers fame. On the A side is Judah, a long time warrior from the UK Dub Roots Sound System scene and vocalist, as well as a master Binghi drum specialist. His offering 'Always There' is proper reggae vibes with an empowering message for everyone, followed by a handy dub version. On the flip, Pico & Han offer up the mesmerising and spiritual Jah energy of 'Haile Selassie I' which also comes with a handy Version mix up next.

Joe 9000 Dub - "Rioting Dub" (4:08)
Review: Joe 9000 Dub Records made a successful debut last year and has since put out a crucial follow up. The third missive from the label is from debutant Poyzun, who links with the eponymous Joe 9000 Dub for two killer hits that come, of course, with dubs. Jah Great is stripped back but effective, with a rolling drum line and fat bass, as well as some well delivered patois vocals. The same tune gets a heavy dub mix that is primed for sound system action and then 'Riot Dub' is a different vibe. It has pens, soulful leads bringing light to a more delicate and icy cold dub that has rattling hits and far sighted get that it's easy to get lost in.
