I Will Do It The Same Way (6:39)
Review: Japanese micro-house champ So Inagawa has long been serving up delectable singles for labels such as Minimood and Trimsound, and it seems high time that he delivered an album, ten years after his first single was released. This long player for Cabaret allows Inagawa to stretch out his styles without losing focus on what his distinctive sonic identity is. The grooves stay slight and serene throughout, with delicate threads of instrumentation woven in and amongst the needlepoint drums, and the overriding feeling is one of strung-out jazz. Closing track "I Will Do It The Same Way" perhaps says it all, this is an album of consistency that hits upon a refined style and maintains it throughout.

Liquid Moves
Liquid Moves (Mjm accapella) (3:07)
Review: Roughly a year after Thomas Melchior inaugurated The Return Of The Cosmic Kids series for Aspect Music, the German returns to the label with a second three track offering. "your vision will become clear when you can look into your own heart who looks outside dreams, who looks inside, awakens" is all Aspect Music offer in term of sales notes, leaving you to enjoy some more wistful Melchior Productions Ltd music free of distraction. A decidedly spectral vocal sample is key to lead track "Sometimes" adding further to an already haunting production, whilst "Liquid Moves" is an altogether more strident and uplifting cut from Melchior. Do check the MJM accapella of "Liquid Moves" if you are after a trippy set opener!

In Form
Review: Last year's Variety Of Different Feelings album confirmed Bucharest producer Barac to be a rising star of the Romanian minimal scene, so it makes sense for him to further establish his profile with a new record label. It also makes sense for Barac to be involved in the first release, with Moment 001 consisting of two collaborative productions with compatriot Chiriches Vincentiu Iulian. With both stretching past the 12 minute mark, it's evident these tracks are the result of some fruitful time in the studio between the pair and "In Colour" features some particularly delightful musical touches that really bring the production an extra sense of life.

Visio
Ruski
Review: After the adventures in Meditations from Thomas Melchior, Perlon's latest release of an impressive 2015 so far finds the label turn to a lesser known artist in Bihn. The production alias of Berlin based Germann Nguyen, BIHN emerged last year with a pair of low key 12"s as well as working with Onur Ozer as Treatment. What Nguyen lacks in profile he makes up for in punchy Perlon-worthy productions skills on the basis of his two tracks here with opener "Visio" a quite haunting cut where stripped back drum programming allows a neat bassline and detailed synth work to shine. Complementing this, it feels like "Ruski" is Nguyen letting his more urgent desires reign free and is likely to become a B side many selectors cherish.

Julian Alexander & Samuel Deep - "Breakdown"
Review: After the first collaboration on Samuel Deep's Native Tribe EP, these infamous jungle brothers decided to do a full EP together. When together they go by Ingi Visions and have a unique heavy underground sound made for dancefloor destruction. The "Get Slapped" EP features two solo tracks as well wich really represents their own styles. U can expect a lot more music from the brothers in the future.

Chaser
Long John
Review: Perbec is Mark Broom and Baby Ford. Their last vinyl outing was "Variety Club" for the seminal Ifach imprint in 2001. Here they return with "Chaser" an epic journey into the original principles of house music. Infectious bass, Chicago-style keys and deep, analog synth pads announce that the party is very much in full force. Flip the disc for "Long John" which features stripped rhythms with plenty of swing and energy - equally suited to the main room or afterhours. Mastered at D & M.

Cursor (Archie Hamilton's Cursory Glance)
Cursor
Review: MOSCOW016 marks the return to a wax for Moscow Records. First up on the new series is Italian-born Berliner, Lorenzo Chiabotti. No newcomer to the scene, Lorenzo is a mainstay of Luc Ringeisen's Vinyl Club Recordings, playing regularly at Club der Visionaere, Katerholzig and Arena, as well as managing a busy international schedule.

The EP opens with L'Appeso - a tension-builder centred on an eerie hook, interacting with creeping modular elements and complemented by a broken-beat drum pattern. On the A2, Adnur's clean beats and dubby analogue musical licks create a fantastic groove. On the flip, label-owner Archie Hamilton leads with his interpretation of Cursor. Using elements from the original, as well as adding a driving bassline, the track builds into a restrained crescendo. The original mix of Cursor completes the EP, with dancing hi-hats, rubbery bass and summery tones.

Drag Me
Chromosome
Review: After Assemble Music enjoyed one of its strongest years in 2014, the Portugese minimal and generally oddball house imprint call upon one of their regular guests, Daze Maxim, although this time he's brought long time collaborating friend Patrick Specke along for the ride. "Battery" moves like a finely chiseled electro cut in the Bunker tradition, keeping things a little grubby and sinister in preparation for the more primal sounds bouncing around in "Drag Me". That leaves it to "Chromosome" to bring some lighter fare to the B2 with its cheery chords fed into an ever-so-slightly dislocated house groove.

Seven Valleys & A Deep One (11:11)
Review: Steady rising Romanian minimal tech house producer Faster has already scored notable releases on labels such as Vinylclub and Kurbits, and now he makes the move to The Rabbit Hole to serve up three cuts of imaginative and varied substance to work in all kinds of scenarios. "Focus Pe Kick" is a particularly enchanting warm up affair, using ethereal sweeps of pad to soften the insistent chug of the cyclical beat, while "RW" gets into a cheeky, shuffling jazz groove offset with spooky synth tones. The title track spreads itself over the B side with a slow and measured unfurling of rhythmic poise and tonal elegance built for the long mix.

Backed Up (6:36)
Review: With a style rooted in classic 90s rap-house styles, System2 have already flown out a wealth of material for various imprints including Underground Audio and Politics Of Dancing, but on this occasion they're back on their own System2 label to deliver two upfront jams that will sit right on any old-skool minded dancefloor. "Movin (Edit)" may have a dubbed out flavour to it, but it's still a peak time belter with a smooth hip-house vocal flow atop of loose and limber breakbeats and a satisfyingly punchy bassline. "Backed Up" may take things deeper with some intricate drum machine patterns and soulful keys, but it's still a neat time machine back to the good old days of early house music.

Still Lemonade
Still Lemonade (Redshape remix)
Review: Is the world ready for a Skream album on Crosstown Rebels? News that Oli Jones had signed up to the Damian Lazarus helmed label for his third studio LP probably came as a shock to many, but really it fits in well with the development in sound of Skream these past few years. Whilst full details of that LP are yet to surface, Crosstown lay down a marker of how it might sound with this Still Lemonade 12" from Skream. In original form, the track is tech house at it's most immediate and colourful and is complemented by a remix from Redshape that veers off into rhythmic abstraction nicely.

Visio (Seuil remix)
Review: Swiss artist Romar has already built up a name for himself on Monique Musique and on his own RORA imprint, but now the artist also known as Roraprod is making the move over to Fasten Musique for another round of hypnotic workouts suited to the European minimal crowd. "Elusion" packs in some classic Carl Craig-esque warmth with its delicate smatterings of synth notes amidst finely chiseled beats, while "Visio" slips into a more classic kind of minimal house cycle that could easily fit in with the Romanian wave of producers. Seuil brings a healthy dose of French flamboyance to his version of "Visio", getting all kinds of bump and shuffle out of the source material while working in plenty of extra goodies of his own.

Eder Alvarez & Gorbani - "Antidoping" (kike Mayor & He Did remix) (6:51)
Sasha Kaktus - "Yanino 1" (7:04)
Enzo Leep - "Briel" (8:34)
Review: Russian club-turned imprint Heisenberg is kicking off its label with the mantra, "the home for Romanian techno, Berlin underground house and Breaking Bad fans". While samples from the latter are fortunately scant on this various artists EP, there are plenty of quality experimental party tones to be enjoyed from the host of unfamiliar names. Little Hado is especially funky with the sparse-as-you-like "Miscare", while Sasha Kaktus brings immersive pulses of chords to the table on the deep and techy "Yanino 1". For any fans of the deepest end of purist dancefloor cuts, there's plenty to dig into on this here record.

Drosophila (7:14)
Review: The minimal house tackle seems to be coming thick and fast from the Dilated Pupils supergroup, with this latest missive springing up on the slowly emergent German imprint Tabla. "11MYJ" leads the charged with a hypnotic mantra that works around a tight, looped up percussion combo and ethereal swathes of pads. "31TBJ" has equal amounts of ambience in its veins, although the groove comes stepping out with a little more sass in amidst the misty tones. "Drosophilia" resides on the B side with ample room to spread out another dubby exercise in subtlety and patience, ensuring this EP shows there's more to this group than shuffly, hard grooving house music.

Ponfeel
Review: Cutting a strident path through the Eastern European minimal milieu, Moratu has already surfaced on Beech and Nil before now, but now the emergent producer inaugurates new label Oldvavis, and the sounds contained within certainly pack enough pep to edge in front of the crowd. "Oldvavis" moves with that swirling, dubbed-out techno breakbeat flavour that has been prevalent in recent years, but the drums come through clear and punchy, and it gives the beat an urgency that can't be ignored. "Ponfeel" gets into a different kind of groove, upping the shuffle and making for a catchy house jam full of organic goodness.

Review: It promises to be yet another interesting year for Dial Records with an upcoming compilation and the tantalising prospect of a debut album from White Material man DJ Richard on the horizon. Before that, it's Herr Flugel that kicks proceedings off with a new three track 12" that sounds and feels every bit as vibrant as this stellar 2014 LP Happiness Is Happening. Sliced Africa opens with "Black Towers" a racketing slab of epic deepness that appears suited to the early morning moments, whilst the title track has our Roman veering off into more tropical territory. Some superb drum programming on this one. To close "Spiritual Enhancer" adopts a more contemplative poise, easing down the tempo and providing the warm up DJs with a B Side gem to cherish.

Review: Johnny D is a certified masterclass when it comes to itchy, swinging and funky tech-house bangers. The dude has released on all the big 'uns including Oslo, Bouq and Safari Electronique, and he returns to 8Bit with another deadly three-tracker tailor-made for the dance. The title track "Believer" is a hypnotic and floor-sweeper, while "Ellic" is a little darker and more lo-fi, and "Poluc" focusses on the percussive edge, something which Mr. Johnny D knows a thing or two about!

Review: The Untold Stories: Protagonist Series. Records dedicated to the stories of some venerable but unsung historical figures. The first of the Protagonist Series was created by Sil, and gives a glimpse into the spirit of the first such figure: Tadeush Konrad. Sil, the pseudonym of Kirill Sylantev, who is more widely known for his work in the duo Easy Changes, now begins solo productions. For the UNTLDPRO series his work dedicated to Tadeush Konrad is of confident vibe, with much swing and rich with soulful flashes from times past. This work is then remixed by Ztrl and Hubble. First comes the Ztrl remix, with energetic bass and a wealth of tones interrelating to great hypnotic effect. Then on the B-side Hubble's remix, an extended work, a floating journey of warm organic sounds, concludes the story and the spirit of Tadeush Konrad.

Elysium
Pulsar
Review: The fortieth release on Scuba's label is a collaboration between Locked Groove and the fast-rising Italian pair Mind Against. If there was any doubt that Hotflush represents an accessible take on underground techno, then this is it delivered with a palpable self-confidence. "Elysium" is based on tribal beats, but its groove pulses insidiously and the melodic breakdown is reminiscent of Kompakt's classic trance sheen. "Pulsar" follows in a similar vein and the arrangement, erm, pulses hypnotically. Although similarly pristine hooks and sparkling synths are audible, on this occasion it's all about the groove that gets increasingly intense until the inevitable climax.

Review: After the striking debut release on Nothing Odd Recordings found label owner Sam Smith sitting comfortably alongside Baby Ford for an exploration of subliminal house and techno, NOR002 finds Smith donning the alias Monty The Fly and expanding on his own vision for stripped-down dance music brimming with psychoactive tendencies. Across the three tracks there is a diverse range of moods being drawn on, from the meditative to the mechanical, all fused together by what some might consider an obsessive eye for detail. There's meditation in the air in places, with mysterious pads and heavy splashes of reverb soaking out into some corners in the time-honoured dubwise spirit of transcendental electronic music. Elsewhere brushed percussion and disembodied vocals shape out a more sinister message, lending themselves to a sound world both immersive and disorientating in one fell swoop.

Review: After dropping the excellent 241020 EP by Dilated Pupils, Mode Of Expression make a strong return to the fray with this EP from Gua Camole, expanding on the labels manifesto of quality, stripped down house music for discerning ears. "Return" is particularly distinctive with its nagging, subtly funking loop of clattering percussion pared down to a whisper, coursing its way through deep drifts of chords and pads. Mof Sparkle then drops a remix of "ANA" that roams into more cosmic territory without losing that austere atmosphere, before Gua Camole brings it back down to earth with "Binry", sporting an organic line in guitar licks and mechanical locomotion drenched in soul.
