Let's Start To Dance Again (Dimitri From Paris remix Super Disco Blend) (8:12)
Let's Start To Dance Again (7:37)
Let's Start To Dance (part II) (6:41)
Review: Bohannon's biggest dancefloor hit, 'Let's Start II Dance Again', has been remixed umpteen times over the years, with several reworks of the slamming disco-funk classic released in the early-to-mid-1980s. Here it gets another new lease of life as part of Unidisc's 40th anniversary celebrations, with disco remix maestro Dimitri From Paris at the controls. The Frenchman delivers two tasteful, club-ready tweaks: an 'Extended Remix' that wisely utilises all of the familiar elements of Bohannon's original, while subtly beefing up the beats and adding a few drops and breakdowns, and an even longer, more dubbed-out 'Super Disco Blend' revision. Over on the flip there's a chance to enjoy Bohannon's original version and the raw and heavy 'Part 2' mix from 1981 album Alive.

Rivers (7:03)
Finality (7:11)
Your Man (7:06)
Paradíso (5:47)
Entrance To The Future (1:16)
Review: Hailing out of the Rhythm Plate universe, Yse Saint Laur'ant is back with more of that fanciful house music he does so well. This latest drop on Vinyl Only leads in with 'Rivers', a beautiful warm-up track led by a powerful spoken word performance from an unknown source. 'Finality' is a smouldering, slow-build epic which finally releases in a burst of brass to get a big mass of bodies moving as the sunnier days hit and we head outdoors to dance. 'Your Man' is a dustier affair for the heads down crowd, 'Paradiso' slows things to a gentle murmur and 'Entrance To The Future' takes a sharp left turn into synthwave territory. If you like bags of personality in your house music, look no further.

Lost & Looking (Cosmodelica remix) (7:36)
Lost & Looking (Cosmodelica dub) (6:01)
Review: Lady Blackbird's recent album Black Acid Soul was many things - a modern soul-jazz masterpiece for starters - but dancefloor-ready was not one of them. Because of this, the Los Angeles-based artist has decided to inaugurate a series of 'remix dubplates' featuring fresh revisions of cuts from the album. Number one in the series features two rubs from Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy under the Cosmodelica alias: a brilliant full-vocal remix in which spacey synth stabs, Clavinet sounds and clipped disco guitars rise above a sturdy dub disco groove, and a flipside dub that removes most of Lady Blackbird's fine vocal and emphasizes the trippy elements in Murphy's brilliant re-prodution (particularly the synthesizer sounds).

Look For Love (The Reflex Revision) (9:52)
Hooked On You (The Reflex Revision) (7:32)
Review: Is there a French disco maestro more iconic than Cerrone? We think not. His tracks burst with the best the genre ever had to offer, and they stand up to endless airtime even this many decades after they were written and released. The Reflex knows this, and once again exercises impeccable taste and critical judgement on approaching such holy grail stuff as he offers up a pair of Cerrone revisions for the modern dancefloor. The fundamentals of both 'Look For Love' and 'Hooked On You' remain intact, with just some nipping and tucking and a little stretching where it counts to make these honey-coated jams even sweeter. You can't say fairer than that, can you?

Tu Mens Devant Moi (feat Ramatou Traore - Voilaaa remix) (4:08)
Spies Are Watching Me (feat Sir Jean - Patchworks remix) (7:50)
Review: It's a while since we last heard from Bruno 'Patchworks' Hovart's Afro-disco focused Violaaa project, so this surprise set of remixes of back catalogue tracks is more than welcome. Fittingly, three of the versions come from Hovart himself under different aliases. There's a fine, tropical-tinged, sun-splashed Violaaa revision of 'Tu Mens Divant Moi' that doffs a cap to zouk music, and two deep house-tinged Patchworks versions of classic cuts. The mix of the outfit's underground hit 'Spies Are Watching Me' is a brilliant alternative take on a familiar favourite (it certainly breathes new life into the track), while the samba-house-in-Ghana revision of 'Ben Bene La' is brilliant. Throw in a quality J Kriv deep nu-disco version of 'Ku La Foon' and you have an excellent EP of tasteful, club-ready cuts.

Review: Jocelyn Brown will also be one of the most recognisable voices in soul and disco and here she gets called upon by Raven aka Elliot Roscoff. He is a legend in the music game who has played a key role in turbo-hits by artists like Philipp Glass, Grover Washington Jr., Jan Akkerman, Jesse Green, Candi Staton, Peggy Lee and many more. He also signed plenty of the early disco hits to the iconic West End label and keeps on serving up the tunes that make dance floors go wild. This one is a real stepper, with silky bass, colourful synths and a heart aching diva vocal that soars and soars.

Review: REPRESS ALERT!: Peter Croce is a Detroit-based DJ, producer, and head of the boutique vinyl label Rocksteady Disco, which he founded in 2014. He inaugurates new Italian label Edits Collection with some tracks that he has expertly and respectfully re-spliced for maximum dancefloor dynamics. On the A side you've got the sweltering Latin rhythms of 'Leve Toi Et Danse' which is powerfully hypnotic, and then that bass drops! On the flip, there's the roaring disco inferno of 'Dragons' followed by the late night boogie-down vibe of 'Dancing Is My Pleasure'. All killer, no filler!

Review: Gledd & The Funk do what they always do here and that is bring some superb soulful and great gospel house vibes that cannot fail to ignite a floor. Their perfectly entitled Deep In The Church EP comes on nice acid yellow wax and kicks off with the prickly 'The Rabbit.' Warm chords, big horns and slinky drums make for swift lift off. 'Thankful' then brings the raw and guttural vocals to a disco-tinged beat and 'New Rising' brings the funk. Art of Tones remixes with a nice deep take.

Searching for a sweet spot between the plush orchestration of disco and the upbeat shuffle of rocksteady, he embarked on a series of covers with a strong cast behind him, taking on the likes of Chic's 'Good Times', 'It's My House' and a version of 'Ain't No Stopping Us Now' which became a staple at David Mancuso's mythical Loft parties. This collection gathers together all the singles - vocals, dubs and all - and comes packaged with an interview with Isaacs and liner notes, restored and remastered and sounding better than ever.

Review: Razor-N-Tape is back again this week, this time with Kokoro Disco-San, an experienced trio of musicians and producers from Barcelona who have clearly stayed on the pulse of the nu-disco scene in recent years. 'Sunshine' in its original form is an edit of a familiar vocal-led disco groove which is perfect for poolside chilling, but it's the reworks by label chief Jkriv which really bang the party. The bright like neon Beach Burn mix is sure to get the hands in the air, as will the low slung SPF76 mix which is perfect to drop just before sunset.

Review: Reissued on 12" wax after its long germination as a mega-rare promo white label, Rick Clarke's very first and massively sought-after single 'Potion', from 1981, gets light shed on it once more. Revered by boogie collectors in particular, this one is best known for its instrumental, which appears in all its glitzy glory on the B side. On the song, as you'll recall, Clarke urges us to "get, get down" and drink from his disco elixir; we gladly oblige.

The result is 'Starlight', a serving of emotive soul funk with a nod to legend Stevie Wonder. Over on the flip, we have the late night boogie-down vibe of Destiny II's 'I'm Here For This' featuring Aria Lyric's powerful vocal delivery, underpinned by an uplifting arrangement that has summertime vibes abound. Review: Social Lovers made a massive impression in 2019 with their debar 'Love Come Down.' We're delighted they are back and back with such another bit of brilliance. This time they serve up a cover of Evelyn Champaign Kings stone cold classic sing-along song 'Love Come Down.' The re-sung vocal is utterly angelic, the bass is robust and rubbery and oversized and the swaggering dub rhythms to die for. Glorious. On the flip is an instrumental version that frankly is just as likely to get a floor going wild.

Lift Off (remix) (5:01)
Review: Having previously produced two tidy remixes of overlooked Patrick Cowley gem 'Get a Little', Alan Dixon has returned to the late, great producer's catalogue in order to rework another lesser-celebrated cut. This time round, he's turned his hand to Megatron Man album track, 'Lift Off', a typically throbbing, muscular vocal number that sits somewhere between thrusting robo-disco, sparkling electrofunk and synth-pop. Dixon first adds a little low-end grunt on the re-edit style 'Love Attack Mix', before delivering a sturdier and easier-to-mix 'DJ Friendly version'. On the flip you'll find Cowley's original and a rare, club-ready remix from the early '80s.

Review: Melbourne digger and edit master Hysteric is back in top class fashion here with some more of his brilliantly feel good tunes. This time he dips his toe into warm Mediterranean waters and the lush world of Italo disco with 'Lombardoni Tool' which is all retro synth chords, splashy cymbals and chugging 80s drums. Bliss. Review: Radio Mundo is another of those red hot but hugely mysterious new labels where the name of the artist and imprint are all the same. It's a well worn ploy to disguise who might be behind what must be a series of edits of old tunes - but whoever is making this needs credit because just as was the case with the first one, this seance one is another vital 12". There is Afro drumming and vocal work mixed with dark synth sounds and a late night club feel on the opener 'Basse Terre'. Review: Originally released in 1979 on Dominant Records, this double single features production by Italian composers and vocalists Antonio Iglio and Antonio Moxedano. 'Tigre' and 'Gennarino 'O Sioux'' saw extreme demand after becoming instant cult classics. The bass is tight and the vocal melodies are instant foot tappers, you'll be humming it for hours. The original 7" is one of the most wanted and rarest around, with very few copies ever going on the second hand market - reaching the hundreds in some cases - a huge leap forward for the Neapolitan Disco Funk scene, and a testament to the pure talent of these artists in what was arguably the beginning of a golden era for Italian funk and soul.

Review: There's no doubting that Idris Muhammad's "Could Heaven Ever Be Like This" is a stone-cold classic; a sparkling, heavenly chunk of dreamy, disco-era jazz-funk that's capable of reducing grown men and women to tears when played at the right time. Some could argue that it's so good that it shouldn't be tampered with. Late Nite Tuff Guy, a producer who previous for reworking classic cuts, clearly disagrees, because he's delivered a fresh 2018 revision. His version is actually rather reverential, subtly beefing up the bottom end to provide a little more a rolling disco feel while adding some easy-to-mix beats at the beginning. Otherwise, he's made use of all the key original instrumentation and should be applauded for his tasteful efforts.

This 12" for example contains extended, club-focused reworks of two recent - and predictably popular - tracks.
