I Take You There
Got Your Back
I Take You There (IO Mulen remix)
Review: Politics Of Dancing is back with another upfront slab of peak time house grooves for those that know, representing the vitality of Paris' scene now and always. "I Take You There" has everything the crowd needs to get down - fulsome, rounded bass, steadfast, simmering drums and the psychotropic flutter of synths dancing across the top of the mix. "Got Your Back" is more of a roller thanks to its own low end ruminations and bolder leads, equally adept at doing the business at a different time of night. iO Mulen is on hand for a remix of "I Take You There" which bounces all over the B side in a trippy haze of minimal house perfection.

Overcome (9:00)
Lady Science (NYC Sunrise) (9:22)
Review: REPRESS ALERT!: Trelik returns with a repackaged edition of one of the catalogue's most treasured releases. "Overcome" and "Lady Science (NYC Sunrise)" need little introduction, and now come sporting the new TR11:11 matrix number. Written and produced by Thomas Melchior and Baby Ford aka Soul Capsule, these tracks came from one of the many sessions recorded at the West London Ifach Studio in 1999. On the A Side "Overcome" is stripped back and energetic, driven by rolling and shuffling garage style beats, tight bubbling bass and atmospheric synth pads. The intermittent vocal samples and the release's signature organ set you up for the flip, "Lady Science (NYC Sunrise)". Possibly one of house music's most emotive pieces, the track builds slowly with the introduction of each part building a story of soulful optimism based around a sparse palette of deep synths, uplifting keys and warm analogue bass. The understated beauty of the main vocal riff never seems to grow old or tired with the track lending itself perfectly to either main room, peak-time play or after-hours sessions alike. Remastered by Rashad at D & M.

Reflections (8:50)
Manifold Surface (9:45)
Review: When the Bucharest based power duo of Cristi Cons and Vlad Caia (SIT) team up with acclaimed local pianist Mischa Blanos - you get Amorf. The impressive trio was one of 2017's undisputed highlights with their awe-inspiring Blending Light LP on local imprint Understand. This long awaited sophomore effort comes courtesy of their own Amphia imprint, which brings Cons and Caia's idiosyncratic production style to new, intelligent and experimental levels once again - and to rather stunning effect. Featured on the Dimensions EP are "Reflections" which retains the loose and live feel of their acclaimed live performances, with influences of jazz and classical for an epic introspective cut. On the flip, "Manifold Surface" is more straight up, injected with some dancefloor dynamics which makes for a groove filled and hypnotic journey.

Chris Stussy - "Atlas" (6:09)
Niko Maxen - "Silverlining" (7:15)
Per Hammar - "Dynamic Ranger" (7:11)
Ray Mono - "Unplugged" (7:34)
Review: There's much to admire on this second "chapter" of Talman's "Retro Future" EP series, which lands in stores two months after its sold-out predecessor. The title is apt, because much of the material effortlessly joins the dots between the spacey bounce of late '90s tech-house and the rolling, bass-heavy glitch-funk of today's leading tech productions. Chris Stussy steals the show with opener "Atlas", a cut full to bursting with intergalactic-electronics, ear-pleasing chords and glassy-eyed futurist house grooves, while Per Hammar's "Dynamic Ranger" cannily mixes a swirling atmosphere with druggy, mind-altering rhythms. Elsewhere, Ray Mono provides ear-pleasing peak-time hypnotism, while Niko Maxen makes the most of some stabbing analogue bass and chiming, delay-laden riffs.

Review: REPRESS ALERT: Groovepressure is back by popular demand after a 13 year hiatus and kicking things off with re-releases and new productions from the original Groovepressure artists. Taking influence from original UK techouse and techbreaks, Detroit techno, Chicago House, electro, deep house and 90's electronica, Groovepressure is about keeping these influences fresh whilst looking towards the future. Releases will include new music plus re-masters and remixes of sought-after Groove Pressure classics. Groovepressure came from the underground and had support from legends like Laurent Garnier and Andrew Weatherall with recent support from the newer school including Onur Ozer and Raresh. A² (aka Andy Panayi and Alec Stone) are London bred artists who originally appeared on Groovepressure in 2001. Their tracks will form the first comeback release on Groovepressure. "No Mistake" and "Rebirth" are both re-mastered Groovepressure classics in their own unique tech-breaks style whilst "A² Groove" and "Real Thing" are new releases taken from the vaults and keeping the same vibe.

Om Neom (12:42)
Review: As far as Rhadoo's release rate is concerned, it's about quality not quantity - but when they do eventuate they are certainly worth the wait. The [a:rpia:r] co-head's last release was over four years ago on Amphia (as Colorhadoo) and he returns for Moscow by way of Berlin's Nervmusic with this collection of afterhours weirdo techno on the Semantics EP. Anyone who has witnessed one of his much lauded closing sets recently knows he has no qualms mixing in experimental beats between lean house cuts - this style is explored personally on tracks like the off-kilter mini-funk of "Fierbinti" or the contorted/psychedelic groove of "Gerunziu". "Om Neon" on the other side is classic Rhadoo all the way: moody, hypnotic and totally tripped-out - best enjoyed after 9:00 on the dancefloor. Cutting edge stuff once again from one of Rominimal's most respected figures.

Trailblazer (9:08)
Altitude (7:15)
Nightfall (8:16)
Review: For the label's first release, German imprint Amour has recruited rising star Noah Skelton, a producer who has previously served up tech-house treats on Silencio, Mayak and Cabinet Records, amongst others. Skelton starts in fine style with "Trailblazer", a wonderfully dreamy, funk-fuelled affair that joins the dots between the spacey, futurist sound of 1990s tech-house and the rolling chunkiness of more contemporary tech-tinged fare. He reaches for deep space chords once more on similarly inclined flipside cut "Altitude" - all two-step-influenced house beats, ultra-deep electronics and fireside-warm bass - while closing track "Nightfall" is a swirling, early morning roller of the type that Parisian crew Yoyaku has been serving up all year.

Fur Die Paar Heller (10:18)
Review: Sascha Funke's latest EP bears all of the aural hallmarks of his chosen collaborator, Niklas Wandt. The latter is arguably best known for his percussive, off-kilter tropical cuts produced alongside Jan "Wolf Muller" Schulte, but has also been involved in numerous new wave and krautrock style bands. Hints to all of these musical inspirations can be heard throughout the EP, from the stylish spoken word vocals and chugging krautrock grooves of "Die Sage", to the foreboding new wave/tropical drum dub fusion of epic closing cut "Fur Die Paar Heller". Elsewhere, "Lobotomie" sees the duo wrap fluttering pan pipes and spacey synths around gentle tropical drums, while "Umarmung Aus Holz" is a funky and foreboding, guitar-powered krautrock workout tailor made for end-of-days dancefloors.

Whiskey Roll (10:14)
Review: Somewhat surprisingly, this four-track affair not only marks Romain "Traumer" Reynaud's first release of 2019, but also the first missive of his GETTRAUM label for 10 months. Happily he's in fine form throughout, flitting between the skittish, jazz-flecked tech-house drums and fuzzy, lo-fi synth melodies of insatiable opener "Full Service" and the sunrise soundscapes and hypnotic, glitch-fired, Yoyaku style drums of sublime closing cut "Whiskey Roll". Sandwiched in between is "Waiting For The Sun", a breakbeat-driven affair that strengthens Reynaud's reputation as one of the world's top exponents of fuzzy, body moving tech-house funk.

Mistral (7:32)
Get Some More (7:43)
Review: Silat Beksi and Daniel Broesecke first joined forces for a collaborative EP on Vivus early last year, so it's little surprise to see them return to the imprint after a brief dalliance with Curtea Veche. They hit their stride on Side A, where "Mistral" offers an attractive blend of chunky, rolling tech-house grooves, rising and falling thickset bass, fizzing electronics and the kind of dreamy deep space pads that seemingly drift across the sound space. On the flip, "Get Some More" follows a similar blueprint, though thanks to even more spacey pads and some blissful synthesizer melodies it feels a whole lot more positive and glassy-eyed.

Review: Fresh from the success of their "Water, Sky, Sun, Wood" album on Mule Musiq - a fine "hour-long meditation" born out of a four-hour improvisation - Wareika return to the dancefloor via a suitably hypnotic double-pack on Sleep Is Commercial. In its original form, the epic "Shamania" offers a near perfect balance between trippy, Villalobos style slipped minimal techno grooves and fluid - if distant sounding - piano movements. Fittingly, Villalobos provides two epic reworks alongside occasional collaborator Melchior Spirit: the first is glitchy, rubbery and undeniably mind-altering, while the second wraps weirdo electronics and mangled voices around a bolder, arguably heavier groove. For those looking for a "bigger", more compressed sound, the rolling tech-house flex of the Dunkle Dummies No Stop Mix is the one to check.

Viste Cuando Todo (7:34)
Review: On his first EP of 2019, Santiago Uribe continues to mix and match house, techno, electro and tech-house sounds in thrillingly entertaining new ways. It's consistently tricky to pin down exactly what the Uruguayan producer is up to, though the results are uniformly impressively. Check, for example, the lo-fi alien electro-funk of "Viste Cuando Todo", the cheeky South American take on UK bleep techno that is opener "Montevideo Electric Sound" and the tipsy, bleep-fired acid house chug of "El De Los Vidrios". "Buseca Sin Vino Tinto", a bounding, bass-heavy jog through tech-tinged peak-time house madness, is also rather good.

Birds II (8:09)
Review: Initially making his presence known on the international scene 10 years ago with his trademark style of tech house, it seems that German producer Alex Niggemann really is in the prime of his career at the moment. After launching his successful Aeon imprint back in 2013, presenting an edition of the Australian Balance compilation/mix and becoming a staple of sorts for top labels like Poker Flat and Last Night On Earth - the Dusseldorf native's energy just keeps on burning and this release for the wonderful Mule Musiq is solid evidence of that. Referred by good buddy Sandrino (of Frankey & Sandrino), label boss Toshiya Kawasaki admits he had never actually heard of Niggemann before, but was won over by these two ethereal and deeply hypnotic tracks featured here in the form of "Birds I" and "Birds II".

Echo Of The Years (7:45)
Review: Under the International Anything alias, collaborators Markus Nikolai and Ole Schulte made their bow on Perlon in 2017, contributing a fine track to the label's "Superlongevity 6" compilation. Almost two years on they return to the storied imprint with their debut 12". Interestingly, it's not your average Perlon 12", featuring as it does two quirky, off kilter synth-pop jams. Both boast typically delay-laden machine drums, darting synths in the fashion of '80s electrofunk and skewed noises that bring it closer to the minimalism we'd normally expect from the imprint. Of the two, it's the female-fronted funkiness of A-side "Like This Girl" that most impresses, though the slightly deeper "Echo of the Years" is also ace.

Parallax (10:06)
Review: Last year, Bucharest producer Vlad Caia impressed plenty of people with "Division I", a collection of experimental-minded minimal techno cuts that was the closest he's come - so far, at least - to releasing a debut album proper. This speedy sequel continues in a similar vein, offering up five more atmospheric cuts across two slabs of wax. He begins in confident fashion via the swirling, deep space pads, bubbly electronics and off-kilter tech-house drums of "Renaissance", before reaching for the droning analogue bass, jammed-out bleep melodies and smooth drums of bolder floor-filler "Cluster". Elsewhere, "Alkuon" sees Caia blend heavy sub-bass and swinging machine drums with sparkling electronics and liquid synth lines, while "Parallax" is a darker, moodier chunk of late night dancefloor science rich in "LFO" bass and off-kilter keys.
