Review: Given his stone-cold legend status, it's a little surprising that Grandmaster Flash has only released a handful of DJ mixes over a career that spans almost four decades. This expansive four-disc set, although primarily an unmixed selection of hip-hop classics contains a rare DJ mix from the man who did more to popularize scratching and hip-hop mixing than anyone else. It's an impressive and entertaining mix, with Flash cutting and blending his way through a selection of familiar rap jams from 36 years of hip-hop culture. Elsewhere, the three unmixed discs do a good job balancing all-time favourites with slightly more underground (but no less potent) classics from the likes of Black Moon, Black Sheep, Nice & Smooth and Chubb Rock.
