C Da Afro - "That Funky Horn" (5:42)
Munky Fike, Alexny - "Acapulco" (6:14)
Disco Endeavours - "So High" (6:26)
Vagabundo Club Social - "El Misterio" (6:00)
Pookie Knights - "Feelin's Mutual" (5:46)
Nnatn - "Magia Du Samba" (7:01)
Review: Some V/As are dubious in their length, seeming to span both EP and mini-compilation length in equal measure, but not this one, which definitely seems to know what it's about. Moiss Music are no stranger to this format, here presenting their second vinyl release 'Watermelon Jam' after the first EP-length four tracker, 'Strawberry Jam'. Nu-disco, funk and house is the name of the game once again, and the tone is set by C Da Afro's 'That Funky Horn' via sample-filtering soul and raucous trumpets. The vocal cuts on this record are among its highlights; Disco Endeavours' 'So High' carries Brandy-esque chirps along a funking house backdrop, while the best of the bunch - 'Feelin's Mutual' by Pookie Knights - channels Carmen or Sylvester in its syrupy refrains and jet-set arps. Even a samba house bit closes it off - a swell all-rounder.

The Funk District - "Gogo Mama" (7:06)
The Funk District - "Easy Easy" (6:57)
Vagabundo Club Social - "Cumbi" (5:50)
Vagabundo Club Social - "Ki-kongo" (5:42)
Review: Following Gledd's stellar opening drop, the Saint Wax label returns with a various artists 12" that features some fresh-sounding edits from all over the shop. On the A side, The Funk District steps up first with some Afrobeat retouches, reaching from the rolling 'Gogo Mama' to the hard-slapping funk of 'Easy Easy'. On the flip, Vagabundo Social Club get into a slinky, jazz and acid laced groove on 'Cumbi' and ride the filter in all the right places for the soaring, uplifting 'Ki-kongo'. If you crave some respectfully treated, cool-as-ice edits to spice up your set, look no further.

Shakala (8:39)
Los Bareteros (6:02)
El Cateter (5:38)
Review: Given their deep-rooted knowledge of the re-edit scene, it was probably only a matter of time before the Razor 'N' Tape crew turned their attention to Colombian scalpel fiends Felipe Gordon & Vagabundo Club Social. This outing on Aaron Dae and JKriv's imprint could well be the South Americans' finest work to date. We're particularly enjoying A-side "Shakala", a gently tooled-up and dubbed-out revision of a dusty, tropical disco-funk treat rich in Fela Kuti style Afrobeat grooves, rising horns and flanged guitar riffs. That said, we've also got a lot of love for the fiery horns, bustling rhythms and warm bass of "Los Bareteros" (a revision of a well known, boogaloo-era Afro-Latin jazz dancefloor classic), as well as the similarly minded - but altogether heavier - "El Cateter".

Felipe Gordon & Vagabundo Club Social - "Basilio" (Eddie's Stomp mix) (6:32)
Sleazy Mcqueen & Vagabundo Club Social - "Chips Y Salsoul" (7:17)
Eddie C - "Be There" (7:07)
Review: Lovedancing's latest missive is something of an all-star affair, with Canadian hero Eddie C and Whiskey Disco boss Sleazy McQueen contributing tracks alongside Colombian producer Felipe Gordon and fast-rising scalpel fiend Vagabundo Club Social. The latter joins forces with Gordon for the deep house/deep Latin disco fusion of "Basilio" - all jammed-out Rhodes riffs, heavily percussive grooves and chanted vocals - which is in turn re-imagined as a horn-heavy Latin disco-funk workout by Eddie Stomp. The Vagabundo returns to action alongside regular studio partner Sleazy Mcqueen on B-side opener "Chips Y Salsoul" - warm and deep disco-house vibes with added trumpet solo action - before Eddie C rounds things off with the shuffling, string-laden disco-house loveliness of "Be There".

Sunshine Jones - "Lovergirl" (8:02)
Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee - "Love Me Too" (5:28)
Will Buck & PRTMNTO - "I Need Your Love" (6:40)
Vagabundo Club Social - "Sonico Amor" (7:41)
Review: Perhaps we should think of Whiskey Disco's Small Batch series as their attempt at "artisan disco". Certainly, the re-edits on show should have a few hipsters - and plenty of disco DJs - stroking their hirsute chins in appreciation. Dubtribe Soundsystem's Sunshine Jones kicks things off with the mid-80s synth-pop-goes-acid-house brilliance of "Lovergirl", while regular collaborators Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee doff a cap to Sly & Robbie and Larry Levan on the dub disco vibes of "Love Me Too". Those after some high tempo jazz-funk-meets-disco-house thrills should check Will Buck and PRTMNTO's "I Need Your Love". As for Vagabundo Club Social's "Sonico Armor", it's a hazy, dub-flecked Balearic disco delight.

Sartorial - "Together" (6:57)
Monsieur Van Pratt - "Clavs & Trumpet" (5:25)
Vagabundo Club Social - "Encanto Nigeriano" (6:56)
Review: The always funky Tropical Disco Records is back with a 15th fantastic instalment of feel good, playful disco sounds that have you dying for warmer days and brighter nights. It's another various artist affair as is their MO, and Moodena goes first with some horn led disco funk. Sartorial's "Together" is a breezier, beach roller with a sense of cool jazz authority that gets you feeling loved up. Monsieur Van Pratt then brings big Philly strings next to some squelchy acid synth funk before Vagabundo Club Social closes things out with the afro tinged and tribal disco groove of "Encanto Nigeriano".

Phazed Groove - "In Motion" (6:12)
Ziggy Phunk - "Vibes Of Nola" (6:55)
Kikko Esse & Emanuele Del Carmine - "Funky Tranky" (7:06)
Vagabundo Club Social - "Calabao" (6:00)
Review: The Tropical Disco crew continue to show an utter disregard for the season by serving up more of their seamy and summer grooves. The super strong Various Artists collection kicks off with the funky bass riffs of 'In Motion' from Phazed Groove, who ride the riffs and fluttering flute lines to the cosmos and back again. Ziggy Phunk gets more raw and punchy with a freewheeling disco house cut that will shake your booty loose and on the backside are two more timeless tracks: 'Funky Tranky' has lush trumpets reaching for the skies and 'Calabao' brings a real Latin vibe and flailing percussive energy.

Sleazy McQueen & Vagabundo Club Social - "Boh!" (7:41)
The Rejected - "O Craque De Futbol" (6:50)
Pontchartrain - "Have A Little Taste" (7:04)
Review: Whiskey Disco's first missive of 2018 is something of a sweaty beast, with a quartet of producers stepping up to deliver some sticky dancefloor heat. Label chief Sleazy McQueen joins forces with Vagabundo Social Club on A-side edit "Boh!", a slamming rework of a Bohannon-esque disco-funk jam rich in hard guitar riffs and crunchy Clavinet lines. The Rejected takes a different approach on the flipside, serving up a rolling, delay-laden tweak of celebratory, soccer-themed Brazilian club jam "O Craque De Futbol". Sunny, funky and low-slung, it's accompanied on side B by the gently housed-up swamp funk of Pontchartrain's "Have a Little Taste". Given the quality of the EP, we're more than happy to follow that instruction.

Pambele (Sleazy McQueen remix) (6:55)
Angayusa (JKriv Discumbia mix) (5:21)
Angayusa (Sleazy McQueen & Brian San Diego remix) (5:53)
Review: Last year Vagabundo Club Social pitched up on Lovedancing with an EP of humid and colourful club tracks that tended towards the tropical. Here, arguably the EP's strongest tracks are given the remix treatment. Label boss Sleazy McQueen features prominently. First he offers up a rolling, acid-fired take on "Pambele" full of squelchy bass, organ stabs and bustling beats, before joining forces with Brian San Diego to re-cast "Angayusa" as a trumpet-sporting slab of loopy deep house dopeness. Arguably even better though is Escort man JKriv's hybrid analogue house/cumbia revision of the same track, which bristles with weighty bass, tropical motifs and sweat-soaked Colombian drums.

Pambele (6:21)
Esclavo 29 (6:18)
Angayusa (5:57)
Review: Whiskey Disco sublabel Lovedancing now presents Amigos Vagabundo Club Social, who have truly found their voice with this terrific EP. Comprised of Jaime Tuiran and Juan Pablo Pinedo, they combine the best electronic grooves and Carribean flavour on the Pambele EP - three tracks that commemorate their musical heritage and upbringing in Barranquilla, on the north coast of Colombia. The groovy and sun kissed title track with its creamy Rhodes notes is a perfect homage to a certain Colombian boxing legend, while the lo-slung and funky swagger of "Esclavo 29" is a go-to track to work the dancefloor on a long, hot summer night. Finally on the flip is a sultry deep house groove in the form of "Angayusa" with some super sexy sax action.

Lego Edit - "Afromaniaco" (8:29)
Review: Samosa Records is back with a summer edition titled Afrikano Vol. 1, featuring four tracks from various artists. On the A-side, Vagabundo Club Social kick things off with the life-affirming boogie vibes of 'Mr. Mista', while by C. Da Afro & De Gama are equally uplifting on 'Sweet Dance' that's all about the beat and horn breakdowns.Over on the flip, Atchoum & Grincheux appear with the spiritual life music of 'Demokousse' remixed by Les Inferno who underpins the track with infectious breakbeats and finally Lego Edit provides goes poolside and sunset on the low slung 'Afromaniaco'.

Monsieur Van Pratt - "Jazz Player" (5:04)
Infradisco - "Aungasana!" (6:27)
Roland & Brother Rich - "Roger Moore's Living Room" (6:23)
Review: Tropical Disco have now served up an impressive 22 volumes of timeless and wonderfully seductive disco tunes. These are sounds that will brightened up your life and make it sunny even if the real weather is awful, as it is now at the end of October while we write this. Vagabundo Club Social bring Latin vibes to their big, horn lead opener 'Costero.' Monsieur Van Pratt's 'Jazz Player' then leads with a more seductive horn sound and slide guitars that get you grooving. Infradisco's 'Aungasana!' layers up steamy 80s sax lines with neon chords and bulky disco house beats and Roland & Brother Rich close out with a deep and jazzy house groove straight from a Detroit basement.

Sartorial - "Slipping Into Dudeness" (6:01)
Sartorial - "ICU" (7:19)
Review: REPRESS ALERT!: The fifth volume of their magnificent Super Spicy Recipe series finds the label's crew in full party effect, with the six tracks here crossing the borders from peak time dropping to essential warm up/down gear. First up, Vagabundo Club Social takes 'Beso Loco' featuring Tomjake Sax and turns up the controls to maximum fun, the Colombians throwing in tons of groove and Afro -influenced percussion, before Monsieur Van Pratt and Guatemalan singer Teff Brolo. This all-original track is leaded by the powerful soulful vocals, accompanied by a groove-infused piano which keeps the beats nicely anchored, followed by the ever dependable Reece Johnson who closes off this side. Flip it over for Bernardo Mota & Boogietraxx and the euphoric 'Keep On Doing Your Thing' before Sartorial takes proceedings into slightly jazzier territory on B2 and B3.

Pontchartrain - "1515 Broadway Revisited" (feat Larry Love - Jacques Renault Brooklyn BK live remix) (6:40)
Review: As the title makes clear, this tasty 12" from Lovedancing sees Brooklyn producer Jacques Renault deliver fresh interpretations of killer cuts from the label's vaults. Renault first offers up a deliciously sweaty, loose-limbed take on Vagabundo Club Social and Sleazy McQueen's "Chips Y Salsoul", placing the original's familiar electric piano motif and muted trumpet samples atop a densely layered Latin house groove, before joining the dots between dub disco and proto house on a rework of Vagabundo Club Social's "Pambele". Over on side B he delivers two takes on Pontchartrain's "1515 Broadway Revisited": a lolloping disco-house "BK Club Remix" and a "BK Live Remix" that sounds like it was done in one take, dub style, in the same manner as proto-house legend Paul Simpson's influential 1980s mixes.
