The Evolution: Phase Three
Cat: VISIO 040. Rel: 28 May 21
Deep House
  1. Deenamic - "Fears" (feat JM Bailon) (5:53)
  2. Orlando Voorn - "In Deep Thoughts" (6:43)
  3. Tryezz - "Later Frequencies" (5:46)
  4. Stephane Attias - "Fairy Tales" (6:16)
Review: The Visions Inc label has been defining its own grand of house music since inception in 1999. For this one the label draws on assured artistic talent from all over. Deenamic's 'Fear's manages to be a nice basement party jam but also oozes a sense of jazz-funk cool. Orlando Voorn again joins the dots between Europe and Detroit with the dancing keys and future techno soul of his magnificent 'In Deep Thoughts' and Tryezz builds the pressure on his steamy and late night 'Later Frequencies.' Stephane Attias's 'Fairy Tales' rounds out this limited 12" with more deep and misty eyed grooves for those who like it cosy and cuddly.

Terrains (limited 140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: ANGIS 444. Rel: 28 Sep 20
Deep House
  1. Terrains No.1 (3:09)
  2. Terrains No.2 (4:13)
  3. Terrains No.3 (6:19)
  4. Terrains No.4 (3:48)
Review: Following swiftly up from the smooth soul inflections of HUMA, Angis Music deliver another sureshot from Tryezz. Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jonathan Fowlkes builds on years immersed in production and performance to deliver this pristine slab of machine soul. For those who want to hear the soul, funk and boogie roots in their electronic music, this record has exactly what you need. 'Terrains No.1' sports an electro framework and dreamy synth strokes oozing sophistication and funk in equal measure. 'Terrains No.2' skips along in a more sprightly fashion, shuffling in all the right places, while 'Terrains No.3' leans in on a firmer house groove. 'Terrains No.4' rounds the EP out on another immaculately crafted groove, maintaining the rich chord structures and glistening synth tones that make this whole EP so damn satisfying.
