Review: DJ Hyperactive's now-defunct Contact was the label that first put out this cult cut from 1996. Some 25 years later it now gets a welcome reissue on Truncate's own self-titled label and features a remix from the techno titan himself. 'Reptilian Tank' gets a breath of new life and a refreshing new remix by label boss Truncate. First up is the original - a head-wrecking, panel-beating techno rave-up with wispy pads and pulsating bass that is full of pent-up energy. The remix is a speedy, stripped-back version that races ahead with all the urgency of a shooting star.

Review: Truncate is a master of laying down drums that are heavy and powerful but also hypnotic. They sound superb on a loud system and are the sort of things you want to roll on for days. Here he is back with another four such cuts on his own now 25-release-deep self-titled imprint. 'Basal 1' opens up with bleeping deep techno pulses and slippery synths then 'Basal 2 (Out Of Control)' melts theming with its twisted rums, bass and synths, 'Basal 3' is another heady one that goes deep into the cosmos. Last of all, the EP is rounded out by 'Basal 4', another superbly stylish and mind melting techno cut with frazzled synths and industrial hints.

Review: Veteran Los Angeles producer Truncate returns on his eponymous imprint with four heavy duty techno tools loaded directly from the factory floor. 'The Drill' follows the same Blueprint of early '90s Birmingham industrial in the vein of Downwards and Dynamic Tension, while 'The Hammer' follows in suit but with the addition of Robert Hood's style of cyclicality: steely hi-hat workouts and claps on the kick. Turn over to side B and you have the pummelling, industrial strength pressure of 'The Closer' followed by the strobey 303-led stomp of the No Gabber mix.

It's also likely that you'll enjoy his latest EP, First Phase, which arrives in stores in limited numbers, on coloured vinyl. The two original tracks on show are naturally formidable workouts. 'First Phase' is a dense and murky tribal techno stomper, while 'The Eve' is a jacking, drum machine driven affair blessed with some intensely psychedelic acid lines. Former Truncate collaborator James Ruskin remixes that tune, turning a sharper, heavier and mildly wonky revision, while Luke Slater delivers a Planetary Assault Systems take on 'First Phase' that cloaks the producer's dense drums in spacey electronics and hypnotic synthesizer motifs.

Review: David Flores aka Truncate presents a 10 year anniversary release on his eponymous imprint, featuring four powerful cuts to pummel the newly reopened dancefloors on the First Phase EP. The direct and functional execution of the title track in its original form is a solid DJ tool that's made to play, with the Planetary Assault Systems remix adding another level of ferocious intensity to it beforehand. Over on the flip, the hypnotic cyclicality of "The Eve" is certainly in the vein of Robert Hood yet finely executed in its own right, while the rework by Blueprint's James Ruskin stays respectful to the original while adding some nice dancefloor dynamics.

Review: Number 20 drops on Truncate and plunges us back into a world of chiseled, deadly serious techno. "Repeat" opens things up with some slowly modulating themes that teasingly evolve from veiled threat to clear and present danger. Luis Flores takes on a remix of the track that adds some industrial heft to the rhythm section and leaves a generous dose of white noise debris in its wake. "El Sonido" is a wound up jacker dreaming of peak time - a tight but swinging groove bringing the funk and end of the world interplay between the nervy synth line and the displaced vocal snippets. There's also a "No Vox" version of the track if that voice doesn't do it for you.

Review: White label lover Truncate (AKA long-serving techno producer David Flores) is back with more "no frills hard grooves, crafted for the dancefloor". This time it's all about "Machine Jack", a track served in two distinct flavours of analogue-driven intensity. First up is "Machine Jack V1", where one-note stabs, Belgian hardcore "Hoover" noises and simple, mind-altering melodies slowly rise above a pounding techno groove. "Machine Jack V2" is equally as intense, with twisted, acid-style electronic motifs dancing above another ten-ton beat. In comparison, surprisingly tropical B-side "Missing" is rather laidback and melodious. It's still savage and floor-friendly, but boasts a rather cheery synthesizer melody and some blissful electronic touches throughout.

Review: Los Angeles techno titan Truncate (AKA experienced producer David Flores) continues to serve up heavyweight jams on his eponymous white-label series. A-side "Multiply" is a no-nonsense affair, with hissing and crashing cymbals, morse code style electronic beeps and crunchy drum machine handclaps rising above a thunderous peak-time techno groove. Over on side B, "Pseudo V2" sees Flores wrap European tech-house glitches and pulses around a hypnotic deep techno groove, while "Pseudo V3" offers a more psychdelic and mind-altering take on the same deep and bass-heavy groove, with twisted acid lines sprinting in and out of the mix at regular intervals.

Review: The 15th release on techno titan Truncate's eponymous label contains three alternative versions of previously released gems. First up you'll find a vocal-free version of angular and metallic 2011 throb-job "Focus", where relentless cymbals and two-note loops ride a pounding kick-drum pattern. Next, he unloads a bubbling, acid-fired "V2" take on 2012 jack-track "Modify" - all layered percussion, razor-sharp electronics and wayward TB-303 lines - before dedicated all of side B to a tasty alternate riff on "Mira Mar". The original was one of his deepest and dreamiest techno tracks, so it's nice to see that he's retained the warm chords and tumbling melodies amongst the delay-laden beats and gentle acid lines.

Review: Truncate's "7_1" first appeared on wax back on 2014, on the A-side of a 7" single dedicated to revivalist acid and Chicago jack-tracks. Producer David Flores has decided to revisit them two years on, serving up his previously unreleased 12" mix - a subtle extension that makes more of his nagging acid lines and whispered vocals - plus two fresh reworks. The first of these comes from M_nus man Kevin McHugh under his Ambivalent alias, and successfully drags the track further towards driving, main room techno territory. Arguably even more impressive is the thrillingly wonky Silent Servant version, which recasts Flores' original as a bittersweet chunk of melancholic acid weirdness.

Review: There is little to say about David Flores and his Truncate alias apart from the fact that we've been big supporters of the label for years, and that he's given the go-to guy when you're yearning for some militant, stripped-back techno goodness. In fact, "Culture" is more house-centred than his usual material, but that's only because of the tune's repetitive vocal sample, while both "Track 2" and "Track 3" are more representative of Flores' usual style; the former chucks sparse 909 drums over classic Chicago sirens, and the latter goes for the bleepy treatment, making the perfect score to any Berghain set.

Review: Uh oh, Truncate is back onto your subwoofers with the second chapter of his recent remix series...the last outing still pounding its way across the Juno HQ! This time the American techno maverick chooses Par Grindvik and Dustin Zahn to mould "Mira Mar" into bleepy, hi-hat-heavy tool, while Zahn himself strips "Modify" of all its dignity and cuts it down to a beautifully simple kick-beat approach. Grindvik closes this chapter off with a deeper, more mentalist take on "Mira Mar", where the melodies are catapulted into oblivion thanks to intricate FX processing .

Review: David Flores delivers another Truncate bullet, and as per usual, these three cuts are bundle of techno jerkers for the Berghainian dweller. Title track "Another One" is a clap-heavy head noodle with a distinctly dubby air, "Model 1" is bleepy and all guns blazing thanks to its militant groove, while "Room Mode" is the weirder of the bunch, where a warped Detroit-style bassline dominates Truncate's familiar minimalistic percussion style. Certified bombshells for the dancefloor.

Review: For the west coast techno scene of America, Developer and Truncate are a one stop shop for club techno. Where Developer's production goes large, Truncate's focus is primitive techno minimalism - for David Flores, his peak time productions come packaged as Audio Injection. Truncate fans will notice the similarities of "Control V1" to "Concentrate" (recently commissioned for Pangaea's fabric live 73) from 2011. Truncate manages to strip back "Control V2" even more, which puts greater emphasis on the ketamine drugged computer vocal, while "Reflex V1" and "Reflex V2" are also incarnations of themselves; one minimal, the other more so.

Review: Truncate is celebrated by his fellow DJs for the grand power and impact of his drums. However he shapes them, they cannot fail to arrest the attention of any dance floor. This outing on his own Truncate label is another fine example crafted alongside Dotdat. There is a trippy Detroit melodic minimalism to 'PNQ V1' that will tie your mind in knots, then 'HYD V1' layers up jacking drum loops that never resolve with edgy synth pulses. It's tense and unrelenting techno for late night experiences and to close, 'HYD V2' brings more raw and wild textures to the ever-pounding kick drums. Devastating stuff.

Review: Audio Injection's David Flores dons his Truncate mantle to teas up with fellow Droid Recordings stalwart Luis Flores. Compared to their other works, the Ratio EP is rather timid...well minimal. An ultra-light and clacky "Ratio 1" sets the tone for the EP, as does the following "Ratio 2" which is cut from the same cloth and builds in strength like a boxer that's moved from lightweight to middle-weight. On the smudgy stamped reversed-side of the white-label, Luis Flores adds sprockets of alarmed synths and ghoulish chords to his remix of "Ratio 3"; a production desperate to be heard at Berghain. Like the others, "Ratio 3" pulsates with minimal force, as percussion walks up and down its arrangement like a drunk cabassa player falling in and out of time. Proper minimal techno.
