Review: Known most for his TC Studio work alongside Matei Tulbure, Traian Chereches has latterly taken to working in a solo capacity and demonstrated an equal degree of aplomb for unique rhythms and joyful sensations. Fans of the Romanian's work will delight in this double pack on his and Tulbure's prospering TC Studio label with the six tracks on Lobster Club really showing Chereches' full production range. Proceedings begin on an abstract note with "Wald 1975" memorable for some bold vocal sampling, though tracks such as the tumbling "A New Beat" and "Orchestra Rehearsal" will provide more than enough dancefloor satisfaction.
Review: Bucharest pair TC Studio helm the first release on Memoria Ltd, the new vinyl only arm of Breda-based label Memoria Recordings which pairs musical art with creative covers, and any self respecting Latin speaker will know why they chose the title Vulpe when they see the artwork for this 12". Though they are best known for their collective work as TC Studio, Matei Tulbure and Traian Chereches have elected to demonstrate their talents in a solo capacity for this 12" and it's hard to pick who stands out such is the standard of production. Chereches packs out "Caligula" with all manner of intricate textural detail but still ensures the emphasis is on the busy yet playful groove, whilst Tulbure opts for a more restrained and abstract approach on "Dunn".
