Review: Fresh, clean and modern disco from Japan's T-Groove. Channelling the yeah-yeah-ing vocals of American r&b contemporary Maddam Mya, 'Move Me' is a bass-riffing, double-clapping charger in the mode of 80s-20s nu-boogie. B-sider 'Keep On' Dancin' is hardly different, working a squeezy and pressurized modern pop vocal line from Maya Killtron into a chaotic, bustling shooting funk star.

Review: Yuki "T-Groove" Takahashi has long been one of the most in-demand remixers on the 21st century "nu-boogie" scene. He's not released many solo records, though. In fact, "Move Your Body" is his debut album. Put together with a crack team of musicians and a string of soulful guest vocalists (Enois Scroggins, Jovan, B Thompson, Winfree and the Precious Lo's all feature), the album sits somewhere between Incognito, Galliano, original New York boogie, slick, radio-friendly '80s soul and, on a couple of notable occasions, 21st century R&B. It is, of course, stylistically on-point - think punchy, Teena Marie style horns, George Benson guitars, D-Train synths and cowbell-laden drum breaks - and many of the songs sound like nu-disco anthems in the making.

Review: Tomoko Murabayash's solo project Four Leaf Sound is back with a third sizzling 7". This one is produced by T-Groove and marries sultry and seductive disco with K-pop vocals. A-side 'Drive Through Glass' rides on a funky bassline with warming piano chords as those vocals are elegantly delivered up top. Flip it over for the similarly sweet 'Taillight.' This one has a deeper baseline, and more tender acoustics guitar riffs as the vocal matches that vulnerability in effective fashion. A lovely pair of tunes for sure.
