Review: Following up great releases by Will Sonic, Iner and Sun Rhythms, St. Petersburg-based label Dobro returns with VA 004, compiled by the aforementioned Iner and featuring groovy music from around the globe, or as the label best described themselves 'a lot of sunny house and disco bangers.' Starting off on the A side with Sable Blanc's take on the dusty MPC house sound of Berlin with 'Humming Bird On The Spot', followed by KX9000 & Berzingue getting into some Windy City style late night deepness on 'Hasch 3000'. Over on the flip, highlights came from the likes of Meowsn who gives their best KDJ impression on 'Q', and Martem & Maoree's loopy disco inferno 'Walking Down The Street'.

Review: Two sides, two continents, all class: LTF, W/Lbl glide into 2018 fashionably late with this deliciously sophisticated 12" from two classically-minded newcomers. Flying Frenchman Sable Blanc lives up to his Balearic tag with two supreme sun-kissed sounds; "Rose Cocktail" is all about the peppy Jersey organs and wily jazz sax while "Bridelice" shuffles with smoky introspective soul. Flip for two vibes from LA's Never Dull. "Friday Night Special" hits with disco vibrancy (and just a smidgeon of jazz sax appeal) while "Jazzin'Disco" filters us deeper into the night with a sublime roll of synths, sax and sunny side feels. LTD by name, LTD by nature. Don't sleep on this.

Review: Honey Butter launches in a flurry of feel good deep house from lesser known producers with a keen ear for straight up groovers. Swales kicks the record off with the melancholic tones of "Pushin' Away", while Ari Bald sidles in with the wistful sample chops of "Hot 2 Cold". Sabie Blanc takes things to even dreamier heights on the B-side with the harp-embellished romanticism of "Musique D'Ascenseur", and then Eben Rees finishes the party off with some seriously funky licks on "Dirty Dishes". All in all, it's a formidable salvo of likeminded deep house jams that should work its way into the bags of all manner of soulfully-minded spinners.
