This white vinyl reissue boasts all of the mixes featured on the original 12". Perhaps the most famous version is the rolling, bass-heavy two-step flex of the "Live Garage" mix that opens side B, but there's plenty to set the pulse racing elsewhere. The driving, jazzy-but-stomping "Words To Give By" version has been annoyingly overlooked over the years, while the "Tambourine Dub" is deliciously sweaty and driving in the best possible way.

Review: It would be fair to say that Roy Davis Jr and Peven Everett's "Gabriel" (originally written "Gabrielle" on early pressings) has become a timeless dance music classic - a track that both soulful house and UK garage DJs reach for in times of trouble. Should it not be in your collection already (and it should be), Large Music has decided to re-master and re-press the original 1996 12". It does, of course, contain the now ubiquitous "Live Garage" version - the groovy two-step, trumpet-laden mix that became popular with early UK garage DJs - plus a trio of lesser-known remixes. The Tambourine Dub, in particular, is something of a tough, warehouse-friendly deep house treat.

Review: Groovin' Records has a good relationship with Peven Everett. Over the years, the Italian label has released and reissued plenty of material from the legendary Chicagoan vocalist and producer. 'Bluelight Love' is brand spanking new - a superb, subtly Latin-tinged chunk of deep, soulful vocal house rich in jazzy guitar flourishes, organic-sounding percussion hits and dreamy chords. On the flip, Everett remixes it himself, opting for chunkier, bouncier drums, far weightier bass and a much more club-centric feel. The spacey synth solos that are a little buried in the A-side original version are far more prominent, too, while his superb lead vocal naturally takes pride of place in the mix.

Review: This tidy two-tracker brings together a couple of sought-after gems from one of the true masters of neo-soul and soulful deep house, Peven Everett. On side A there's a chance to cop hard-to-find 2010 single 'Heat Up', a Clavinet-heavy chunk of organic, soft-touch, up-tempo soul meets deep house brilliance in which Everett's effortlessly slick and smooth vocals rise above rubbery bass guitar, heady keys and tasteful beats. Head to side B for something never-before-released on wax, the much requested 'Fantasy Eyes'. More electronic sounding but still loose, warm and organic, it's a similarly inclined chunk of dancefloor goodness that once again boasts some superb lead vocals from the veteran Chicagoan.

Review: Even Everett is one of house music's most vital singing voices and has got an arsenal of tunes in his catalogue. This time out he lands on Groovin with 'Burning Hot' which has been a big hit in the clubs since 2010. It's one of his biggest tunes and a bonafide house classic with noodling funk bass, soul train grooves and his own soaring vocals the icing on the cake. Flip this one over and you will find an unreleased demo taken from the original song recording. It's more jazzy and, for our money, that bit better for it.

Review: The latest classic record to get flipped by Italian reissue specialists Groove Records is Peven Everett's 'Special', a gorgeous chunk of organic soulful house that first appeared in stores way back in 2008. You'll find Everett's original mix nestling on side A. It naturally features his own sublime, life-affirming vocals, alongside extensive organ lines, jazzy guitar solos, rolling deep house beats and a bassline that sounds like a survivor from the jazz-funk era. This time round it comes accompanied by Timmy Regisford's 2009 'Remix' version, a heavier and slightly more electronic-sounding affair that's arguably better for peak-time dancefloor plays - largely because Regisford's beefed-up groove and positive-sounding synthesizer motifs pack a real punch.

Review: Although we've become accustomed to Groovin' digging into the crates for inspiration, few would have expected their latest release to be a reissue of one of Peven Everett's most slept-on soulful house gems. "Feelin' Who You Are" first appeared in 2008 on the flip of a double A-side single, before being given a pressing of its own with fresh reworks. This edition includes versions from both releases, beginning with the near 16-minute "Original Drum Cartell Full Length Mix" - an epic journey through musically rich, live-sounding dancefloor grooves topped up with an impeccable Peverett lead vocal. We're also treated to the warmer, tighter "Original Mix" and two Shelter mixes by Adam Rios and Timmy Regisford: a rolling, ultra-positive vocal take and a squelchy, bassline-driven dub full of intricate instrumental flourishes.

Review: Luckily for us and you lot reading this - perhaps not so much for the owners of the original copies - Peven Everett has decided to embark on a bit of a reissue marathon, with plenty of his biggest hits resurfacing on our charts after lengthy hiatuses. The king of 'soulful' house has never sounded so good, and it's thanks to Italy's Groovin label that we're graced with two version of 2007's Feelin You In And Out. In case you don't know this monster of a song, just try to imagine an underground version of R Kelly backed by the sort of dubbed-out house made by peeps like Mood II Swing, and you're somewhere close to it. You also get two versions of the hit, one deep version and another more fast-paced take. Magic.

Review: Second time around for Peven Everett's "Put Your Back Into It", which has become an in-demand record since it first hit stores 10 years ago. This official reissue replicates the track listing of the original pressing. Everett's original version is an undulating, soft-spun deep house delight, with the producer adding his own superb, soul-soaked versions to a backing track rich in shuffling, floor-friendly drums, warm bass and jazzy keys. On the flipside, remixer Quentin Harris gives the track a little more bass-heavy bump, employing slightly heavier drums and some rich chords, whist making more of Everett's impeccable Fender Rhodes work.

Review: Last month saw Red D and San Soda join the select cast of DJs to contribute to Defected's signature In The House mix series with a fine Double CD set that saw the FCL pair each turn in a mix of currents and classics. The mandatory 12" sampler now arrives as a vinyl accoutrement with FCL's own contribution "Behold" augmented by three highlights of the CD mixes. Rich with soulful touches and deep house classicism, "Behold" is FCL laying down a fine chord driven production that is the epitome of dreamy. A classic from the late '90s canon of Nick Holder follows with the forthright Track Addicts cut "A Place Not 2 Far" whilst the B side holds some real heat from Jump Chico Slamm and the always welcome sight of Peven Everett's vocals lacing a house groove, in this case Stacy Kidd's "How Bad I Want Ya".

Review: Stacy Kidd and Peven Everett have had more than a few hot link ups in the past, but even they surpassed themselves with 'Body Jerkin' in 2015. The single was an instant hit, which is why the limited pressing became so highly prized amongst rabid second hand house heads. Now South Street have done us all a favour and repressed this crucial track, and bundled it with some killer remixes as a bonus. The original version sits on the A-side of this record, bringing some joyous disco feel to the house template and coming up trumps before we slap into the funked up 'Chicago Mix'. The B2 'Disco Mix' is the secret weapon thanks to its raw, looped up and stripped back sound.

Review: 'Watch Them Come', a 1999 jam produced by Roy Davis Junior and Jay Juniel, featuring the heavenly vocals of a then-young Peven Everett, is a genuine classic - a percussion-rich chunk of vocal deep house brilliance rich in infectious bass guitar, stretched out synth solos and twinkling electronic piano motifs. It has been remixed a few times before - Jazzanova famously reworked it, for starters - but this new edition marks its' first reissue since 2001. The brilliant original is backed by a trio of 2023 remixes: a bouncy, rubbery, drum machine -driven re-wire from Green Velvet that adds extra percussive punch and some mesmerising electronic motifs; a surprisingly tribal and sub-heavy Soul Clap revision; and a jazzy, analogue-rich Chicago house re-fix from Matt N Ricky. A genuine must-have!

Review: Always one to embrace classic, American styles in his deep house productions, Damiano Von Erckert scores a career high point with this release as he gets to collaborate with seminal crooner Peven Everett, and it makes for a powerful combination on the heart-rending tones of "All About Lovin Me". The "4 O'Clock You're In A Club" mix of the track brings a bit more gutsy impact to the track for a tougher part of the night, while Big M drops an off-kilter, bumping remix for the freakier souls in the room. "Diamonds & Girls" provides a lighter distraction on the B side for those who just want a simple, sweet natured instrumental deep house cut.
