Review: Given their long individual commitments to the dubwise cause, you'd expect a collaborative album from dub techno type Scott Monteith (AKA Deadbeat) and sometime Rhythm & Sound vocalist Paul St Hilaire to be a formidable proposition. And so it proves, as the duo apply their dub techno credentials to a more traditional dub framework on The Infinity Dub Sessions. St Hilaire is at his beguiling, soulful best riding Monteith's riddims, which veer from floor-friendly dub-house and dub-techno grooves (see "Little Darling" and "Rock of Creation"), to heady trips into more traditional dubwise territory (check the celebratory "Peace & Love" and tumbling "Hold On Strong"). Throughout, there's a loving authenticity that's extremely appealing.

Review: We can always rely on Ornaments to deliver the best in quality house music and 2012 was another important milestone for the label. Their last EP sees label favourite, Rhauder go head to head with on of the most charismatic voices in house and techno - Mr.Paul St Hilaire, famously known for his work with Rhythm & Sound and its sub-label, Burial Mix. The original is actually reminiscent of the Basic Channel tradition, with those long, sweltering chunks of percussion flowing so neatly along side St Hilaire's enigmatic voice. The dub version is even deeper and indulgent in its delay tradition - exactly what we want to see here! The Pop-a-dub mix is an absolute gem though, allowing those drums to release themselves from the torrent of reverb and tape echo and grind their way to the sound of those gorgeous dub vocals.

  2. Ne Fe Throw It (version) (10:28)
Review: The fifth release on Main Street leaves the deep house scene behind and offers an ultra deep and slow grooving' huge dub tune with rare fragmentary vocals by Paul St. Hilaire. A 12" that would fit in the Rhythm & Sound label discography as well.

Review: 'Find A Way' is a perfect match to the high quality standards of deep house tracks represented on Main Street. Paul St. Hilaire's voice is approved by now and is well known for his vocal on some Burial Mix releases. A killer instrumental version is featured on the B-side.

Review: At the third release on their deep house division Basic Channel keeps introducing new singers. Paul St Hilaire brings in a refreshing reggae flavour to the rather classic deep house set-up. The main vocal mix one A-side is allied with an instrumental on the B-side that reminiscent of Maurizio or Basic Channel releases.

  1. Peculiar

  3. Jah Love
Review: Paul St. Hilaire's new 12'' release "Peculiar" on his label False Tuned sets the mood from the start: a punchy riddim backed up by an accenting bass in the title track. Relaxed and pulsating, and at the same time demonstrating remarkable interplay between instruments and his voice. It is one instantly recognisable from past musical works with Basic Channel and on False Tuned. By the time one gets to "Office", the energetic and smooth dubby style just gets to one's inner feelings. A short kaleidoscope of sounds serves as intro to "Jah Love", and proceeds to a fine dancey vocal dub song. This is reggae/dub at a high level, with meticulous production and mixing standards playing an important part in shaping the general musical package. Lots of room for wandering and taking in the subtle and under-laid sounds. These are songs and an artist giving a positive glimpse into the future of reggae and dub.

  1. Skank (Cobblestone Jazz Reconstruction) (8:39)
  2. Control (Amorf Reconstruction) (8:58)
Review: Last year, dub techno veterans Paul St Hillaire and Rhauder joined forces for a superb collaborative debut album, Decoded. Sushitech has wisely chosen to breathe new life into their soulful, dubbed-out exploits by handing over the parts to a string of high profile remixers. The first of three Reconstructed EPs begins with Cobblestone Jazz's peak-time take on "Skank", where St Hillaire's patois vocals ride a metronomic techno backing track rich in restless late night stabs, delay-laden woodblock hits and bleeping electronics. Flip to the B-side for a warmer and hazier take on "Control" by Amorf. Sitting somewhere between bass-heavy tech-house and head-in-the-clouds deep house, it's something of a hypnotic delight.

  1. Stabilize (Ion Ludwig Reconstruction) (12:07)
  2. Control (Steve O'Sullivan Reconstruction) (7:28)
  3. Dim Dim (Melchior Productions LTD Reconstruction) (6:55)
Review: As you'd expect, Sushitech has pulled out all the stops on this second selection of remixes of tracks from Paul St Hilaire and Rhauder's recent top notch dub techno full length, Deredoc. Ion Ludwig steps up first, laying down a rolling, peak-time take on "Stability" that wraps dubbed-out synth motifs and atmospheric snippets of St Hilaire's vocal around a chunky, tech-tinged deep house groove. Over on the B-side, British techno veteran Steve O'Sullivan delivers a deliciously dreamy, late night interpretation of "Control", before minimal house maestro naturally emphasizes the dubbier aspects of "Dim Dim" on his standout rework.
