Review: Given their long individual commitments to the dubwise cause, you'd expect a collaborative album from dub techno type Scott Monteith (AKA Deadbeat) and sometime Rhythm & Sound vocalist Paul St Hilaire to be a formidable proposition. And so it proves, as the duo apply their dub techno credentials to a more traditional dub framework on The Infinity Dub Sessions. St Hilaire is at his beguiling, soulful best riding Monteith's riddims, which veer from floor-friendly dub-house and dub-techno grooves (see "Little Darling" and "Rock of Creation"), to heady trips into more traditional dubwise territory (check the celebratory "Peace & Love" and tumbling "Hold On Strong"). Throughout, there's a loving authenticity that's extremely appealing.

Review: The fifth release on Main Street leaves the deep house scene behind and offers an ultra deep and slow grooving' huge dub tune with rare fragmentary vocals by Paul St. Hilaire. A 12" that would fit in the Rhythm & Sound label discography as well.

Found A Way (11:45)
Review: 'Find A Way' is a perfect match to the high quality standards of deep house tracks represented on Main Street. Paul St. Hilaire's voice is approved by now and is well known for his vocal on some Burial Mix releases. A killer instrumental version is featured on the B-side.

Review: At the third release on their deep house division Basic Channel keeps introducing new singers. Paul St Hilaire brings in a refreshing reggae flavour to the rather classic deep house set-up. The main vocal mix one A-side is allied with an instrumental on the B-side that reminiscent of Maurizio or Basic Channel releases.

Review: The latest album from prolific producer, vocalist and close Basic Channel confidante Paul St. Hilaire is by far his most intriguing yet. Charting a musical lineage from the Caribbean island of Dominica to Berlin over the course of a lifetime, Tikiman Vol. 1 goes straight back to the artist's roots as Tikiman, before legal troubles saw to a name change. Meditating on a life torn between Kreuzberg and Santo Domingo, this is a restless sonic fusion, miring ambient backings, ricocheting dub sonics, and distinctively bluesy baritone singing from Hilaire. It' all errs towards top-quality production, sure to sink the listener into nicely fugueish states.

Faith
Review: Just over two decades after its initial release, peerless dub don Paul St. Hilaire aka Tikiman & Rene Lowe's timeless masterpiece 'Faith' sees a first-ever reissue. It arrives on Richard Akingbehin's Kynant Records, which has also put out Tikiman's first solo album in over a decade and sounds as good as it ever did. 'Faith' (Vox mix) is bottomless dub with liquid chords rippling off to infinity as the dreamy vocals drift in and out and the original version is and even more edgeless and smeared and smudged deep dub delight.
